http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ON1SWUo3Jw&feature=sub I thought he atleast ran about a 4.35 now. Nice interview with Gruden though
eh - I think they can be significant. For example, on MNF I was blown away by the speed Desean Jackson showed in catching that first bomb of the night. At one point Landry was a couple of yards in front of Jackson - then Jackson turned on the jets and in less than 15 yards he had gone from being a couple of yards behind to a couple of yards in front.Goes to show what a silly metric 40 times really are. Quickness and shiftiness are FAR more important, particularly for non-WRs and DBs.
I DON'T think has always been articulate and well spoken.... in fact, this interview is the first time I've heard him talk in a way that bespeaks his intelligent. He seems to have made a conscious effort to speak more clearly and lucidly. One thing about Vick that's always surprised me is that he's always been very articulate and well spoken. Most of these athletes just spout cliche's and usually sound dumb as a brick.
Actually... ever since he got released he's spoken this way in every interview I've seen him in, at least in the locker room/post game ones.I DON'T think has always been articulate and well spoken.... in fact, this interview is the first time I've heard him talk in a way that bespeaks his intelligent. His straight line speed doesn't seem as fast, but still every bit as shifty and quick from what I see.eh - I think they can be significant. Yeah good point,, have you checked out Michael vicks website? http://mikevick.ning.com/ alot of people go there to chat during the game and they have forums also.Goes to show what a silly metric 40 times really are. Quickness and shiftiness are FAR more important, particularly for non-WRs and DBs.
And yet LaRon Landry ran a 4.35 forty, the same as Jackson, but Jackson made Landry look like he was standing still.eh - I think they can be significant. I agree in the Eagles first game against the packers. Vick looked lightning fast, now he looks slower ,maybe because hes taking off a little later because hes keeping his eyes down the field. But ive heard analyst say during his games that it might not look like hes that fast on tv, but in person, hes really fast. Also hes still wearing a flack jacket from his rib injury, but i dont know if that would make a player run slower though.Having been at the game on Monday, the dude is flat out fast. I don't care what his 40 time was... with the juke moves he was putting on, I was impressed. To be honest, and in my opinion, tv made him seem slower than what he is IRL.
It was Gruden...was just painful to listen to.Yes, coach, hes the fastest sprinter in the world.Which dolt on Monday night said that he runs under a 4 second forty on game days?
Agreed. He seems to be running more confidently and under control this season. Andy Reid is a miracle worker.I had actually commented to some friends that I thought "he looked a step slower, and it seems to have improved his game" earlier in the year.Sure, he still looks very fast and quick. Especially as a quarterback. But he looks smoother and less jitterbug-ee.
It was Jaws and he was just being sarcastic --i.e. it doesn't matter what his normal 40 time is cause on game day he is sub 4.0. It was a joke.It was Gruden...was just painful to listen to.Yes, coach, hes the fastest sprinter in the world.Which dolt on Monday night said that he runs under a 4 second forty on game days?

lol his interviews the first couple of years after college were nothing but cliches in nearly indecipherable ebonics. The only thing I could understand for sure was 'know what I'm sayin' after every phrase he uttered.yeah, I assume you were jokingOne thing about Vick that's always surprised me is that he's always been very articulate and well spoken. Why would I be joking, did you watch the video or seen his recent interviews?I don't agree with the whole dog thing, but he does seem like a changed man.lol his interviews the first couple of years after college were nothing but cliches in nearly indecipherable ebonics. I definitely think he is very different. How could anyone NOT be?ttea said:Why would I be joking, did you watch the video or seen his recent interviews?I don't agree with the whole dog thing, but he does seem like a changed man.shakaka said:lol his interviews the first couple of years after college were nothing but cliches in nearly indecipherable ebonics. You can run faster when you aren't also trying to follow/cover someone and have no idea which way they are going to run.njherdfan said:And yet LaRon Landry ran a 4.35 forty, the same as Jackson, but Jackson made Landry look like he was standing still.The_Man said:eh - I think they can be significant. I think what you are seeing here is maturity. The kind of maturity sitting in prison for a year and a half, when you could be in limos and mansions. Has a way of making a guy grow up sometimes. Especially when under the tutelage of Reid/mcnabb.karmarooster said:I DON'T think has always been articulate and well spoken.... in fact, this interview is the first time I've heard him talk in a way that bespeaks his intelligent. I remember after the whole dog thing broke, he was in public, and a reporter asked him if he felt that he would be exonerated of all charges. He paused for a bit, and you can tell he had no idea what that meant, and he said "no comment". I always thought that was funny. He is older/more mature now/ and has paid his dues, so I'm sure his media interactions are a bit easier now.karmarooster said:I DON'T think has always been articulate and well spoken.... in fact, this interview is the first time I've heard him talk in a way that bespeaks his intelligent. Bad example. Landry has put on 35 pounds of muscle since the combine. DeSean is still build like a middle-schooler.njherdfan said:And yet LaRon Landry ran a 4.35 forty, the same as Jackson, but Jackson made Landry look like he was standing still.The_Man said:eh - I think they can be significant. you would be joking because he was never articulate and well spoken, he isn't now, and he probably never will bebeing able to put together a complete sentence every now and then doesn't make him Hemingway lolttea said:Why would I be joking, did you watch the video or seen his recent interviews?I don't agree with the whole dog thing, but he does seem like a changed man.shakaka said:lol his interviews the first couple of years after college were nothing but cliches in nearly indecipherable ebonics. Seemed fine even on draft day. Vick the "inarticulate ebonics spouting thug" is just another falsehood about his Atlanta days just as people say he wasnt a winning qb when he was there and played with the "great" Roddy White.you would be joking because he was never articulate and well spoken, he isn't now, and he probably never will bebeing able to put together a complete sentence every now and then doesn't make him Hemingway lolttea said:Why would I be joking, did you watch the video or seen his recent interviews?I don't agree with the whole dog thing, but he does seem like a changed man.shakaka said:lol his interviews the first couple of years after college were nothing but cliches in nearly indecipherable ebonics. A sprinter covers about 1 yard for 1/10 of a second. Reaction time for sprinters is about 15/00 of a second. So, when a sprinter accelerates, you can assume he will move 2 or 3 feet before the covering person realizes he has done so, and accelerates himself. That's how he gets separation.jlaw said:Don't forget 40 times are measured from a standing start and in a straight line. Mid-route acceleration, in a post route like Jackson ran IIRC, is very different, IMO - just like a car that may have a low 0-60 time may not be as fast from 60-120. Plus, the WR has the advantage of knowing when he's going to open it up. The DB has to make an educated guess and doesn't want to get beat. Even a split second's difference can result in significant separation.
The play I watched he just flat out blew by him. There's no shame in getting dusted by DeSean but Landry knew where he was going, it's called "the end zone".You can run faster when you aren't also trying to follow/cover someone and have no idea which way they are going to run.njherdfan said:And yet LaRon Landry ran a 4.35 forty, the same as Jackson, but Jackson made Landry look like he was standing still.The_Man said:eh - I think they can be significant.
