A pound heaver and 1366 x 768 resolution vs. the Surface's 2160x1440. I do like that it is a bigger screen (13.3" vs. 12") but I don't think it makes up for it.http://www.theverge.com/2014/11/18/7240483/hp-envy-x2-looks-like-a-surface-pro-3
Any buyers?
Apple has to bring something out similar, no?
Get a new job.what if you can't stream where you work
Why? I have a 3 and it is an amazing machine, available right now.Unless you really want the bigger screen I would wait until the Surface 4.
If you didn't like it before you still won't like it, but the new Broadwell chips are much more efficient. If I wait for the Surface 5 will it be any good this time???
There's nothing wrong with the 3 but the Broadwell chips are a big improvement (slightly faster, better graphics, 61% better power consumption). Why? I have a 3 and it is an amazing machine, available right now.Unless you really want the bigger screen I would wait until the Surface 4.
Awesome device, still way too expensive. I bought a $250 touchscreen laptop that still does everything I need it to. I've fooled around with some of the earlier Surfaces and they seem a bit small.

The keyboard didn't feel 100% natural. Granted, I haven't tried any of the newer ones. There's definitely a bit of prestige pricing going on, which I very much like to avoid. The only reason I have an iPhone 6 is because I'm leasing it with unlimited data for $80 a month and in two-years they'll send me the iPhone 7 for free when it comes out for the same exact price of $80 a month.
Bought the i5/256 when it was on sale. Love it. I couldn't wait for the 4 - needed a laptop pretty quick.I wouldn't pay the extra money for i5/i7 right now. If speed is important then wait for the Surface 4 which has a much more efficient Broadwell chip in it.Yes, but the 64GB model really doesn't have enough storage for Office - IMO the 64GB model really is cramped for storage. The i5 8GBram 256GB model seems to be the sweet spot. Also, (and I feel like a moron for having to ask questions like these since I'm in IT), I want the one that I can put Office on. Is that this one? What's a type cover? If it's for basic tasks then a i3 with 64GB is good enough. Get the type cover.Thinking about getting one of these for the family Christmas present. But I have no idea what I'm even looking at. If I want to use it like a laptop (with a keyboard) what do I need to buy? This thing will be used mainly for low end stuff (school projects, surfing the internet, etc.). What model do I want? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
TIS
Also, you can throw a 128GB microsd card into the base i3/64GB to give you a 192GB for $100 more.

The Surface Pro 4 which will run on Windows 10 is said to come in two variants: one 12-inch and one 14-inch display. The 12-inch model will boast of a 2K resolution screen display with 2,160 x 1,440 pixels and will be fan-less. The 14-inch variant will have Intel i5 and i7 as processors while the 12-inch version will be powered by new Intel SoC.
The Surface Pro 4 could offer of up to a maximum of 1 TB of internal memory. The new MacBook packs a maximum of 512 GB of storage. The Pro 4's RAM specification is said to be twice the new MacBook's 8 GB RAM. If the Surface Pro 4 will have the Windows 10 on-board, the MacBook 2015 has OS X Yosemite.
In terms of price and release date, the Surface Pro 4 will apparently cost from $1,200 to $2,000 and will be out in the market in July. The MacBook 2015, on the other hand, is already available in the US market starting today with shipping times of 1-3 days, except 512 BG Gold model which has a shipping time of 3-4 weeks.
Until now, the port configuration of the new MacBook is seen as a crucial point. Will Microsoft follow or stick with the traditional multiple USB ports for notebook? According to Ars Technica, "Apple was showing off a couple of things that split the Type C port into a few different, more conventional ports made possible by Type C's support of multiple protocols."
While the Surface Pro 4 is basically a concept now, it won't be long until something "concrete" information comes. One indication that a new device in the Surface line is coming is the recent price cut of $100/$150 on Surface 3.
Between Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and MacBook 2015, which will emerge victorious? It's early to tell now as both will have to go through series of hands-on reviews. But it does sound good news that a reliable company like Microsoft is targeting Apple's market by providing the same specs at a lower price.

Yep. Love this thing.Best comp product I've ever owned.People are really buying this thing??
I looked at the difference between the Surface 3 and Surface Pro 3 i3 and for $200 less (assuming 4GB version) you're giving up a lot - smaller screen, slower CPU (i3 is about 50% faster), worse camera.Have to wait to see if the Pro 3 would be much of a downgrade versus the Pro 4 before looking to buy. The technology is awesome though given those specs above. I want to want one but I cannot justify it to myself.
Too bad Apple is late to the ball game here. And, too bad MSFT doesn't give educational discounts even if it is only $100.

Currently Best Buy's offer is cheaper with the tablet trade in. If the trade in can be combined with the educational discount... that would drop the price down to $699 for the 128GB... plus the keyboard for about $850.Great info here!http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/eduHave to wait to see if the Pro 3 would be much of a downgrade versus the Pro 4 before looking to buy. This.Hopefully this one will have a touchpad that doesn't make you want to stab yourself in the eye with a fork.
I wrote this last year:What would the Surface Pro 4 have to have for your consideration to buy it?
What improvements should be made over the Surface Pro 3?
Will Windows 10 make it "that" much better?
Curious to hear from anyone what their thoughts are. I'm interested to see what it can do versus the iPad Pro that is speculated. Does the Pro 3 have a fan and should the Pro 4 not have a fan as a sweetener? Again, curious to hear thoughts.
The latest is that the SP4 may skip the Broadwell Core M chip and use the new Skylake Core M (same power savings, but faster/better graphics).I expect MS to dump the RT tablets and come out with two SP4 versions:
- Fanless version based on the low power Broadwell (Core M) chip which would be thinner, lighter, and have longer battery life than the SP3 (with fan), but not be much faster than the SP3.
- Fan version based on the Broadwell (Core U) chip which uses the same power (15 watts) as the the SP3. This would be the same size/weight as the SP3 but be much more powerful while still having longer battery life.
On the flip side, what would keep you from buying it?All of the computers at work at Windows. I mostly do PowerPoint stuff but could possibly expand on that with Bluetooth to use other programs and such if able via Bluetooth. I wouldn't be able to use works network (don't ask) for much anything else. I don't think the Pro 3 has any data plans so maybe the four will however one would not benefit me much.To answer your question - a SP4 with Skylake (basically a more powerful 2015 Macbook) would be a day one purchase for me.
If it's Broadwell Core M (Intel Core M 5Y70 like in the Yoga 3) I'm not sure I would buy it. Broadwell is rather new but with Skylake out at the same time there will be other devices at the same time that have Skylake. On the flip side, what would keep you from buying it?All of the computers at work at Windows. Of the five tiers for the Pro 3, I think the fourth tier ($999) would be my tier. So hopefully something in a similar price range comes out. I have an old tablet to trade in and the $200 is quite alluring based on the tablet I'd be trading in. But, I think the smartest thing to do is to wait.
Intel’s fifth generation is a definite leap forward, even in HD 5500, which appears to be the new mainstream graphics champion. The boost in speed over HD 4400 approaches 40 percent in select Battlefield 4 test loops, and exceeds 20 percent general. Those figures are enough to make a noticeable different in games. Beyond Earth can be enjoyed at 1080p and minimum detail on the HD 5500, for example, while HD 4400 struggles to handle the same load.
Video of Intel HD 5500 running Crysis 3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pt1fUnPx6HcEquipped with fast dual-channel memory, the HD Graphics 5500 outperforms the HD Graphics 4400 (Haswell, 20 EUs) by 20 - 25 percent and also beats the HD Graphics 5000 (Haswell, 40 EUs). However, even a low-end dedicated GeForce 820M ist about 10 - 30 percent faster than the HD 5500. Games as of 2014/2015 will usually run fluently only at (very) low settings.
The HD 5000 is in the i7 version of the SP3.
Not sure if it comes with LTE connection capability. the Pro 3 doesn't but there have been rumoursOn the flip side, what would keep you from buying it?All of the computers at work at Windows. So, this week should have some kind of news, no? If they have something to share they are keeping it under wraps better than Apple. Haven't been able to find anything on the net.
Latest word from the grapevine hinted that the Redmondian company is planning to unveil its next-generation Surface Pro 4 tablet/laptop combo during the upcoming Builders Developer Conference to be held on April 29 to May 1 at San Francisco, California.
After its formal unveiling, the Surface Pro 4 is projected to enter into mass production in June before it is officially released in July to the retail markets. It has also been reported that Microsoft intends to have the Surface Pro 4 coming out of the box with already the Windows 10 on it so that is why the device has a second half of the year release date.
