sportsline's not wrong there though. If a guy rots on the practice squad for a year he gets creditted with no NFL experience. He didn't play and that's the definition of NFL experience, know what I mean?I'm finding conflicting info. ESPN has him signed as a free agent on April 27 2004 while Doug's got him as a 3rd round pick.sportsline has him playing 4 games in '04 (no stats for '05), but lists him as a 1st year player...par for the course for sportslineI find him interesting too but IIRC he's been around a few years. This is his 3rd or 4th, isn't it?Seems like most of those guys are already rostered.
I would look at
Derek Hagan, Miami WR
Malcolm Floyd, San Diego WRGood call, I added him earlier this week to my Dynasty WR corp for future depth; CJohnson, CChambers, GJennings & JCotchery.
He's 6'5, 205 and still a babe, thing is he had lots of time to play catch with Rivers as they waited for their day to come so there should be some good rapore among them![]()
Use CTRL F for april 27th

From this article on him:http://www.chargers.com/news/headlines/flo...aining-some.htmFloyd was signed by the Chargers as undrafted free agent in 2004, but a broken collarbone in training camp set him back. He was signed to the practice squad at the start of the season and activated for the final four games.
Neither does Hagen, the guy has stone hands.I'm seeing Welker as the #1 guy in Miami. Chambers can't catch well enough to be a #1.Is Welker the clear #2 guy in Miami? Also, I was thinking the opposite about Furrey with Hakim entering the picture lately, but I don't really see Lions games much so I dunno ...Welker was a good nomination.I'll also cast a vot for Mike Furrey.
that's kinda funny. I get similar results searching for each, must be a common mis-spellingHis name is actually Malcom (no L) and is being confused with a WR named Malcolm Floyd.
For the last few years, I've done a mid to late season analysis of WR and the potential for someone to emerge. I went back and looked at previous years to see what kind of WR were in the TOP 10 fantasy points from (for example) Week 8 to the end of the season or Week 10 to end of season. I have not done that this year, but here is my criteria I use. These tend to be derived from the general observations I made looking at Past years.Experience: Most who emerge were 2nd or 3rd year or veterans. QB: Most who emerge have at least a decent VET QB.Rb: Most who emerge do NOT have a so-called stud at RB who gets all the TD'sWr: Most who emerge tend be the #1 (whether disputed or not) WR on their team.Schedule: Most who emerge had an easier schedule compared to the rest of the league.I have my old files on my home computer and may do this and post results next week. Off the top of my head, I found, picked up, or traded for the following receivers during their BREAKOUT period:Steve SmithChad JohnsonLav ColesA perfect example of the type of player we all want is Drew Bennett circa 2004. He fits this criteria (although Volek was unknown and Mason was the #1)- It was hindsight, but his schedule late that year was the easiest stretch that could have been inagined. Also some vets showed up on this list if I remember right. I'll post all previous results next week if I can find them. I would go through every team, list 1 or 2 WRs, go through all the above criteria and pick out the 4 or 5 best possible candidates. I guarantee you that a couple from the list of five will be in the TOP 10 WR points over the last half of the season. Good Luck!
I know he's played in games before but is this his first time he'll be starting?Chad Jackson - starting on sunday
I think so, quick glance at stats doesn't show any starts. We need someone reliable or to play Troy Brown more(may need tubs of Ben Gay on the sideline to do this but...). I can't remember ever watching an NFL team and hoping a guy caught the ball as it leaves the QBs hand. Guys turn the wrong way, run the wrong route(or Brady errs) and it's soI know he's played in games before but is this his first time he'll be starting?Chad Jackson - starting on sunday
Except for those deflections he hasn't been much of a factor this year, but IIRC, last year near the end he turned it up quite a bit. A good pickup for FF playoffs. Don't have a link right now though.Small tidbitBoth those catches made by Clayton last weekend were off of deflections. It wasn't like Boller put it on the numbers. Boller was lucky the first touchdown pass wasn't intercepted in the endzone. He threw it into traffic and it was deflected in the air, I think it even hit the goal post, came back down, and Clayton ended up with it. The second touchdown pass deflected too, although Clayton did burn some rubber after he ended up with the ball.Mark Clayton, if McNair goes away.
I'm starting himZERO FF point YTD but with the bye and high hopes and someR-u-v-e-l-l M-a-r-t-i-n
Well? Who else? I'd love to see some conviction behind these posts, maybe change my mind on a sleeper too. Anyone?Re Martin-I'm starting himZERO FF point YTD but with the bye and high hopes and someR-u-v-e-l-l M-a-r-t-i-nmoves I'm starting him.Who else is starting a WR named in this thread?
The Packers had tryouts with Corey Bradford, Charles Rogers, Todd Pinkston, David Boston, Kelly Campbell and Derrius Thompson. They've decided to stick with fifth WR Ruvell Martin.
That's a mistake. Booker is back, Hagan again on the bench, and Welker is gold in PPR leagues in the slot.I dropped Welker for Hagen this week with Welker dinged up and Hagan being the better option anyway, I see this turning out well this week and going forward. Saban would rather use Welker as a special teams guy and a 3rd down slot guy. Welker is just to small to handle a every down type wr job.

Here is my list of wrs to keep an eye out for in some order:7) Hank Baskett - If Stallworth were to get injured, he will get his td chances.

I hope you're right...I was feeling good about the schedule (after NE this week, it's Chi and that's it)Brandon Jones - Coming on fast
Butter Finger Williamson - Easy schedule coming up
Isn't Taylor banged up too? Is he pressing Williamson for the #1 spot?I'm contemplating Troy Williamson r Travis Taylor.
I really wanted Robinson, but his back injury sounds way more serious than first believed.
With a bye coming u pand Fitz returning, I'm gonna committ one of those guys to Bryant Johnson's roster spot.
Didn't they pick up Gaffney? I'm not saying he'll beat out Caldwell so soon but could he steal some looks over the next few weeks? Caldwell hasn't exactly been lighting the world on fire.Reche Caldwell for this week - 9 targets last week, MINN stout against the run, Brady will find him on MNF.
I'm sticking with the trend. He didn't play a single down last week.Didn't they pick up Gaffney? I'm not saying he'll beat out Caldwell so soon but could he steal some looks over the next few weeks? This is interesting. I will look forward to your analysis. I quickly looked over the SOS charts for WR and four teams popped out: GB, Min, SF and TB.Throw out TB and SF as non-vet QB's. GB has Driver, Jennings, others that don't fit the 2-3 year mold, although I might list Jennings even though he's a rookie. Minnesota has Troy Williamson. For the last few years, I've done a mid to late season analysis of WR and the potential for someone to emerge. and WW pickup last week until he knocked himself loopy last week and is now
officially probable downgraded to doubtful for Monday.
sched: NE, @SF, GB, @Mia, Arz, @Chi, @Det, NYJ, @GB, Stl
A few players come to my mind.First, is Losman a decent vet QB? Probably not, but the rest works. (I love McGahee's talent, but he is not a TD hog)Williamson does seem to fit the mold.Shanahan could open the offense. Outside of Branch, when(recently) has a NE WR done well for you in FF? You might be right here but I've been burned here before so my view is taintedJeff Pasquino said:I'm sticking with the trend. This is purely an "if you need help" scenario. I wouldn't start him over say 30+ other WRs - but if you need a filler, he's a name to consider.I agree on your point about WRs that you needed in NE, although Givens did ok there last year for me.Outside of Branch, when(recently) has a NE WR done well for you in FF?
