Neil Diamond has stated that UB40's "Red Red Wine" is among his favorite covers of his songs. He frequently performs the song live using the UB40 reggae arrangement rather than that of the original version.

I really liked Tahitian Skies too (although I thought she was singing The Haitian Skies).+1Caro Emerald: Tahitian Skies (Caro is my favorite find of this round so far)![]()
I’ve been slacking on write ups, so I’m really glad to hear people are enjoying the artist.
We’re getting into the top tier of her portfolio now, with quicksand being the last where I didn’t have the song originally listed as “top 10, maybe top 5”. Still a fun song, but if you’ve enjoyed her work do far, you’re in for a treat.
I almost named the played Red Red Whine because I was complaining to my wife about having to add this one to the playlist.Round 22 - Red Red Wine - Neil Diamond
UB40 covered this in 1983. It needed to be here. They were covering a reggae version by Tony Tribe. They had no idea it was by ND.

Work hard, stay patient, stay cool but not aloof
Be kind to everyone, you never know what they're goin' through
Hold the door and greet people even if they're ignorin' you
They come at you hard.Chase your wildest dreams, support yourself to a bigger truth

I didn't try, but it's perfect timing for this one as we are preparing my son graduating from HS this week. This one is off their final album Sincerely, The P. As I posted before, their plan was to do 12 albums and go out on their own terms, so this is an album that features some more sentimental tracks like this, and most are at the end of the album so it starts to become a bit of a ride. There are a couple songs on the album ranked higher on the countdown, but this is one of the songs that really got to me when I first started this deep dive. I was not expecting it to get dusty while I was listening to some hip hop albums, but that bit at the end of the song with his son is the cherry on top that usually chokes me up.

NEXT: the song that was going to be on the Theme playlist, but I decided was too good and saved it for this. Get the silk shirts and bellbottoms ready for Sunday.
The John 5 playlist has (on purpose) been a bit of a rollercoaster ride.
At least you understand why my playlist is in "other" mode. It was complicated.I almost named the played Red Red Whine because I was complaining to my wife about having to add this one to the playlist.Round 22 - Red Red Wine - Neil Diamond

Some extraordinary artists here. Pavement, Aesop Rock, and Sufjan (even though I do not think I can even come close to putting this one on because it’s a bit too much, and I’m specifically remembering being in one of wikkid’s posthumous threads on the Fourth of July listening to what I think is a Sufjan song from this album about a Fourth of July when his Mom was dying from cancer—and yup and now I’m going to lie here awake).

As always, I appreciate you doing these on Friday. Yes, there are at least 2 lurking that dig Aesop, and I wasn't aware he had a new one. I will be blasting that in my earholes at work this am.MADs adjacent new album releases

Duuuuuuude. My music people - hope you all will participate:
Much like @Scoresman did with Television shows and horror films and @kupcho1 did with novels and @John Maddens Lunchbox did for U2 songs, I am going to collect a list of each participant's Top 70 albums, and tally up and present the results in a slow roll-out.
My only "rule" is no "greatest hits" compilations. Otherwise no restrictions as to genres or format.
Let's shoot for a deadline for submissions at July 1st.

Fantastic idea, bad timing for me. 80s and I are working on a 21st century movie list and that will probably take all my obsessive mental bandwidth. Were you planning on doing something similiar? Not sure if that's a good or bad "duuuuude".Duuuuuuude.My music people - hope you all will participate:
