Middle Aged Dummies - Artist - Round 3 - #1's have been posted! (3 Viewers)

1. The End of Radio -- Shellac

It the song Steve manages to reference radio personalities John Peel ("In session tonight"), Jack Brickhouse ("Hey Hey!") Walter Winchel ("Mr. and Mrs. America and all the ships at sea . . .") Kacee Kasem,("Welcome to your top ten") and song and dance man Jonathan Richman ("Out on Route 128 in the dark and golden it's the sound of modern moonlight."
You forgot to mention Verizon.
"Can you hear me now?" ;)

Ok I think I’ll have time to do this one, since it won’t require as much of a deep dive for me (although they did keep releasing albums well after I stopped listening to anything newer from them - which means I might not have much of anything after Union).

For round 4, I will be ranking Yes songs. I’ll be setting a time limit to try and keep from bogging the playlists down too much, which may exclude a few of my favorites.
you do know I painted one of the inside folds of Yessongs on my bedroom wall when I was in college ...
Awesome. I had a poster of it in college (without the artistic ability)

poor quality original taken with a "shake it like a polaroid" instant camera and then I took a photo of that - lol

notice the carpet, a cross-hatch combination of red, white and blue ...exceptionally hideous - lol, the picture was taken around '78-'79 and the carpet was installed a couple years earlier when the 200 year anniversary "Spirit of '76" color scheme was all the rage

here is a picture of the kid that did it ...that's me on the right ...about 46 YEARS AGO - ARRRRUUGHHHHHH!!!
All I see is a "Zoinks" message, and I'm told to look elsewhere.

As far as I know no one has ever claimed Pearl Jam in a MAD countdown. If we are claiming here, I'll take Eddie Vedder. Mainly but not solely for PJ.
I will not be doing a medal stand this time around

Were you so offended by my Dave selections that you can't bear to judge my Eddie selections? 😬
Lol- I'm not sure it's possible to screw up a Vedder list!

I think this is true, but we'll see what everyone else thinks!

You look like what I image a Yes fan back in the day looked like. ;)

I would submit a list. Chances I listen and comment is pretty slim so I should probably just sit it out even if I don't want to
Listening to every playlist and commenting is not mandatory. You submitting an artist and list is, however. ;)
Yeah, my participation is not where I want it to be for these threads, but I still like going through the process of selecting 31 songs. I especially lack when it comes to listening to all of the playlists (if I were an educated psychologist, I could probably explain it in terms related to ADHD, OCD, etc.)

For my next pick, I'm trying to decide between a Canadian hard rock band (the BEST Canadian hard rock band), a Canadian who plays Americana (Canadiacana? ... no, not that guy), a country artist, a lead singer known equally for membership in two bands, some hobos from Memphis, or a legendary classic rock band. Hmmm

0-6. Welcome to the club.

If this a requirement then I should be voted off the island. This is pretty much what I did for this last round, although I listened to most of the early lists—I didn’t comment on them. Then I fell way behind and didn't catch up.

Likely more of the same going forward for me. Writing up all 31 songs and commenting on most of the group playlists is impressive and appreciated---but I usually can't do that. I think getting more artists into the lists is the best move.

So I'll keep submitting lists and will try to comment more. I hope you do too.

That’s still good imo because it gives me more mostly new music to listen to.

The Guess Who or BTO?
Robbie Robertson
Emmylou Harris
Nobody is known equally for membership in two bands (David Coverdale)
Oblivians or Mud Boy and the Neutrons
Grand Funk Railroad

I'm actually going to switch it up and go ahead the next time if you all will have me by doing El-P now that I've heard pretty much the entire catalogue. I hope you all enjoy him, his production, and his emceeing.
Look forward to it. After our chat i dug into him even more and listened to the solo albums.

Awesome. I realized I was too far behind on listening and didn't necessarily have the desire to catch up and do They Might Be Giants, so I took the past few days and made sure I was making this one as representative and as perfect as I could. Hey, I have a photo for you. I'll PM it to you. You might smile.

Sammy Hagar - WHAT??!!!!! WHAT IS THIS ELECTRIC DRILL DOING HERE SCRAPING UP AGAINST THE GUITAR ID I CALL MY CHILDHOOD???!!!!!
