Mike and the Mad Dog show (Not Done!) (1 Viewer)

I've already started up another account. I want to lay low for awhile, but my posting style (HQ clips) should give it away pretty quickly. If you click on whichever sports-related hashtag is trending, chances are my clip will be one of the first ones... starting tonight.

The upside is that I'll never have to listen to Francesa's show again. It's truly awful. I want to go in a different direction. I've deleted everything Mike-related from my computer. Times change.
Lay low??

Mike Francesa's biggest Twitter critic reemerges, and shows just how deep the host's fandom goes nyp.st/2uKmLQo

So, about this... I Francesa'd myself, I'm afraid.

What happened was, someone started a fake SportsFunhouse account, with an underscore between the two words. He fooled a lot of people. A lot of people who meant a lot to me were following him, believing I was back. I had to make myself known before it got out of hand. So THEN, the first 600 people or so who re-followed me said "Glad you're back... we missed you and we love the Mike clips!"

The people have spoken. If I want to be on Twitter, I'm in the Mike Francesa business... like it, or not.

Frank Isola and a spot in the post. You are even bigger than I initially thought
Remember on the last page, when I told gump that I talked to Mike in Montclair? He was with Frank. They are best friends. Frank called me and put Mike on the phone. Again, if I didn't post Mike's clips, these people would not spit on me. I think that's hilarious.

What are you going to do differently to avoid getting clipped again?

Not post any MLB clips, unfortunately. I'm nearly 100% convinced it was them. I noticed they left me alone when I was posting positive plays, but when I made fun of 4 blown John Sterling calls in the span of a week, it was over.

Someone less self-aware would post a clip of Al Pacino saying "every time I try to leave they drag me back in".

Thanks brother. I'm in a tough spot. I'm getting followers back by the truckload, and they are all expecting Francesa audio. Ughhhh.

I'm not even sure if it was MLB or CBS radio (aka WFAN) who got my account shut down. They were very vague.
Given the handle I can't see woy deyd expect Franceser Ordio ;)

Caller: "I think if I was the czar of baseball, I'd make it a 154-game season, I'd increase the roster size to 27, and I'd eliminate the DH. What would you do if you were the czar of baseball, Mike?"

Francesa: "I, I mean, the first thing I'd do is undo those three changes you made. [dump]

Paul in Tom's River, you're on the Fan..."

:lmao:  Why even bother. The guy probably sat on hold for an hour. Maybe retiring is actually the right move.

Yesterday a caller asked Mike if he was going to resurface once he leave the Fan and he replied yes. Anyone know what he's doing. I recall during the Super Bowl Dog asked him to join him on Sirius

He's claimed that he has something lined up but can't talk about it.  Meanwhile, his replacements show is said to be Chris Carlin. Bart Scott, and Maggie Gray, with Joe and Evan getting his 1st hour so their show will be 10-2.

i will pass on the scott trio....be careful what you wish for.

I like Carlin, haven't heard Maggie Gray, neutral on Scott. I listen to some of the show he's on Sundays. He needs a strong anchor keeping him on track.  Kim Jones and Chris SImms reportedly turned down offers. Interesting that they're following ESPN into the three person show format.

I have no idea why anyone would tune in to WFAN between 1 and 6 anymore except out of pure habit. That group does nothing.

I think Carlin and Kim Jones would have been good.  Always liked her

Hmm, didn't realize Carlin was leaving WIP.

Now I see that Jon Marks will be the afternoon host.  They should just put The Rights to Ricky Sanchez in as the afternoon drive show.

So, two Mike and the Mad Dog producers get gigs replacing Mike, Carlin and Malusis (Football  Sunday).
Plus, Greg Giannotti is permanently replacing Craig Carton and he produced for Joe and Evan.

Very happy with the Giannotti move.  Can only stand so much Jerry Recco.

FWIW, I had heard from a friend who is friendly with the owner of Mulcahy's (someone who is very close with Big Mike) and he was told by this guy a few months back that Mike would be doing a daily 1-2 hour show that would be simulcast on SNY.  Not sure what to make of it, but will be interesting to see.  1-2 hours is a very short work day for Mike, would be surprised if he was willing to make a commute just for that.

So, even though the new show starts doesn't start until January, Bart Scott is already gone from New York Game Day. I actually think the show works better without him. I don't know that it is him, but two people vs three. Don't know why FAN is following ESPN down that route.

I've never liked 3 in the studio NFL shows so I can't see for the life of me how they think it's going to work on the radio. This has train wreck written all over it.

Mike is the guest on this week's si media podcast with Richard Deitsch, for those who can't get enough hate listening from the bs report.  Also, you may be wondering how successful mike was/is.  Do not fear, he will definitely tell you in this podcast.

I know there is talk of him doing his own podcast or getting involved with Simmons and the Ringer. Maybe it's just me but I think it will end up doing poorly. Mike is best at reacting live to whatever is going on. He might be able to pull off an opening monologue type of effort at the beginning of a podcast but I can't see him doing a bunch of prep and smoothing that into a full show.

not sure if you listened to the interview, but deitsch asked him about 3 things speculated by Jimmy Traina:

1) Mike does some kind of podcast with the Ringer

2) a weekly TV show on MSG

3) 2-3 hours per week with Russo on Sirius.

He seemed most interested with number 1 and claimed he likes Simmons a lot and that he could possibly do something where he gives his NFL picks each week.  Said there is enormous interest in his weekly picks and people have offered to pay for them.

My one hope is that it’s not a podcast with no listener participation. In my opinion, the lifeblood of Mike’s WFAN show is his interaction with the callers. Without that, I think the product will suffer greatly.
Me and RN on the same page.

I feel like USA Today should interview some of us as the people who kinda, but not really, know the guy behind the account.

They didn't call you? I spoke with them a couple weeks ago, but insisted it remain off the record and for background purposes only.

That's the only interviewer whose editor didn't require my real name for the piece, so I did it. I've had probably 8 requests before this one. Again, I'm a nobody, but people seem to be fascinated with the guy who records Mike's show. I truly don't get it. All of the other places needed my name and personal info to run the piece. I am supposed to be working while I'm posting clips from his show. That's the main reason I don't want worlds colliding.

RN strikes again!

A thousand years ago there was an HBO real sports thing on fantasy football and they interviewed a bunch of FBGs, one of whom had like 10 TVs set up to watch games

Who was that
