Mike and the Mad Dog show (Not Done!) (3 Viewers)

They started at a bad time of year and it doesn't help that the only real team in NY these days is the Yankees.  That said, Carten is like the Chevy guy for me.

Listened to afternoon drive trio for a few last pm and it was still painful....I figure they are going to try to get them to football season but man the baseball discussions were brutal.  If Mike comes back in any way during this time slot he's going to destroy them.

Just had my first brush with Greatness.

Met Mike at the place I take golf lessons at earlier today.  He was getting a club fitting while I was taking my lesson.  He walked by us on his way to the battroom, I immediately looked at my instructor, didn't even get a word out and and he just goes "YUP!"

On his way back, I fanboyed for a half a second and shook his hand and told him I was a huge fan.  He gave a seemingly genuine smile and thank you.  Been on cloud 9 all day

I know you made this up because there's no way Mike let's someone else tell him what kind of clubs he needs.

Because Russo isn't awful enough on his own, they'll be reuniting for one day on High Heat (MLB Network) Wednesday to discuss the upcoming MLB season.

@Raider Nation - I'm sure you already know, but on the .01% chance you don't, I'll tag you here.

I tapped out and turned the channel after about 20 minutes. An hour later, I just went back to MLBN and they're already replaying this crap?

Now they just showed a rant maddog went on back when SF was ousted in the NLDS by the Mets. They come back to today and maddog proclaims that "The funny thing is, I've won three championships since then"

Good job Russo, not sure the Giants raise those pennants without you.

####### clown.

I like how he's blaming this all on a "campaign" that was orchestrated only in these last few days to keep him out of WFAN.

He's like Frank Costanza deciding to move to Del Boca Vista because the Seinfelds didn't want them there.

"I'm gonna be all over that shuffleboard court!!!!"

If WFAN decided to have dead air from 2p-6.30p it would be better than CMB.  Say what you want aboot Francesa, there was a reason to listen every day.  He kept the show moving and had decent guests with good interviews.  Pompous, yes.  Egotistical, sure.  We can say this about almost every on air personality.

Seriously? Already? What are the theories: expected opportunity fell through...elaborate negotiating ploy..vendetta against Michael Kay?
I've only heard a few isolated minutes of the afternoon show. Have heard more of the Sunday show with Diehl and Malusis and thought it was okay.

From December NY Times:" Not after Friday, when Francesa, whose show has been dominating New York’s airwaves practically since its inception in the late 1980s, signs off WFAN for what he insists will be the last time."

The article also says he refused to re-sign after his contract expired due to a  dispute with CBS, so maybe it was  a  ploy.

Ego?

I mean, he is a NY guy, so its hard to think his shtick will play nationally.  So, that leaves what, ESPN or WFAN?  WOR?  I saw maybe he gets 3-6.30p back.

True, but you'd think he'd have done some due diligence on  what future opportunities could be before bailing. But maybe ego just gave him confidence he'd have numerous good options.

“This is for those who started this campaign in recent days. I didn’t decide to go back to WFAN until I was told I better not go back,” Francesa told Newsday. “For those behind it, that was the moment I decided to return.”

What is the "campaign"? Did he get a rock through his window with a note warning him not to go back to the FAN?

Freakin' self absorbed snowflake can't grasp that even his past platform lost it so luster, and that was far and away the best platform he could ever find.

Suck it mikey. Enjoy semi retirement, we don't want nor need you anymore other than an occasional trip to nostalgia lane with Doggie

Well said - agree 100%

CMB is just painful. Almost Michael Kay level painful.

Mike “Joe in Queens, you are next on the FAN”

Joe “Mike, what do you think about the Knicks bring back Carmelo for the veterans minimum next year?”

Mike “Psst, Why would Carmelo sign back here for the veteran minimum when he can command so much more elsewhere?”

Joe “Well Mike, you came crawling back for pennies on the dollar so why wouldn’t Melo”

I hope this happens literally every hour.

I cant believe someone whose job it is to make radio decisions thought that the CMB show would be successful. That thing had a 100% chance of being awful.
