The Texans waived RB Mike Bell. That sure didn't last long.

Texans waive RB Bell to make room for OT Tucker

One day before they begin the preseason schedule against Denver at Reliant Stadium, the Texans placed former Broncos running back Mike Bell on waivers and signed free agent offensive tackle Torrin Tucker.

When Bell was signed last week because of Chris Brown's back injury, he showed up out of shape, then suffered a hamstring injury and wasn't able to participate in practice.

Wow, just stopped in to say hello?

Hmm...I have Brown riding my bench. If Green gets hurt (high probability) and Brown stays healthy (low probability) I could have another RB to play the matchups with.

It appears he was in the mood for some TexMex.

Mike Bell, signed last week by the Texans as insurance for the injury risk duo of Ahman Green and Chrissy Brown, got cut today. While with the team a week he managed to quicklyshow how out of shape he was, and then promptly got hurt. Brown himself nursing back problems has returned to practice.

Bell Cut !

I don't want to hijack, but the discussion so far has talked about the remaining RB's, but not mentioned Chris Taylor. Is he now so far out of the running that the release of Mike Bell doesn't help?

I watched the Saturday AM practice as well so we saw pretty much the same thing. I think Green still looks like he has something in the tank and I still see enough burst. He's not as quick as he once was, but it is good enough. I think Taylor's biggest problem right now is that he isn't always making the right reads in the zone. That is a major deal. He has to get that worked out. I agree with you on Walker. I think he's just a guy, but he seemed to make the right reads as much as any back out there. He's serviceable. I like the zip that Slaton shows, but even when the Texans are just arm wrapping him, he seems to slow way down. I'm wondering if he can get any yards after contact and run as hard as they need.

Yeah, I just saw that in the other thread. Not good news for him. I guess we'll have to see how the preseason games work out for him, but I don't like to hear that.

Koobs just wanted an inside look at Denver's game plan for the first preseason game.I said it when Bell was cut from Denver, and I'll say it again- he simply wasn't that talented.

Watch him get picked back up by the Broncos after the Torrian injury - then in a preseason game go off for around 120+ yards against 3rd and 4th string D - it will be back to the good old days here in Denver.
