Good link Chunky. Yep, that's it.Opening Garrard remark about MSW:

"I like hearing that 'David Garrard to Mike Sims-Walker.' That's a great combination, he does a great job, he's a great receiver and I'm happy he's finally able to get over some of those injury bugs that he's been plagued with in his career, and he's finally able to show everybody what he can actually do."

When asked by Rome, "Did you see this building, and did you see it coming?"

"Absolutely. I've been saying it all offseason, during training camp, going into the season, that when he's out there he's one of the best receivers in the league. We've only been able to see it in practices and OTAs but now everybody's being able to see it because he possesses all the abilities that you have to have. He's a big target to throw to, he's got good speed, great hands, and he can just make plays, and that's what you want as a play making receiver."

Mike Sims-Walker, Jaguars WR

Much like Jerome Harrison, I'm probably not the first guy you've heard recommend MSW, but I will at least give you a different reason. Not only is he tied at 15th in the NFL with Nate Washington at 31 targets, but Sims-Walker has been one of the most popular Red Zone passing targets as well. David Garrard has looked for MSW 41% of the time in the Red Zone, good for a top 10 ranking in RZ target percentage.

So Sims-Walker won't only be dangerous in the open field, he'll have a good chunk of the Jags' touchdown opportunities thrown his way. Right now he's a definite WR3, and plausibly a WR2. With the Jags having no real #1 entering the season, it's conceivable that Mike Sims-Walker's value still has a ton of room to grow. It also doesn't hurt that the Jaguars' next 4 opponents are: Seattle, St. Louis, Tennessee and Kansas City- four of the worst secondaries in the NFL. :moneybag:

 
Picked him up last night when the waiver wire ran... never thought in a million years when the season began I would find myself debating starting this guy for either Steve Carolina Smith or Roddy White...

 
I might sell, strictly on the fact that people are forgetting he is seriously injury prone. I might throw him in a package with a Santana Moss and try to land a #1 receiver from a team that only has one good one (like a Fitzgerald). I know I'm getting hosed kind of but I'm really stacked at WR.. I don't see Walker cracking my lineup.

Xgo back and read pages 1-3 of this thread...

 
I drafted him in his rookie year and in every year since...finally gave up this season. Only got him in one of my redraft leagues.

Nonetheless, thanks CP for the heads up.

Thinking about making a move for him in my redraft. His owner values him nicely but perhaps not as highly as he should. What's his trade value? I can only move Jennings, Calvin or Welker for him...seriously considering moving one of those folk.

I'd move Welker for MSW. They're pretty close, but MSW gives you a lot more upside from your WR3 position. If we're talking about a WR2, I'd probably prefer Welker.

No, he's saying he'll target a FANTASY owner with only one good WR.e.g. in a start 2 WR league, Mikey has Calvin Johnson, Mike Sims-Walker, and Santana Moss

Joe-Bob has Larry Fitzgerald, Eddie Royal, and Bernard Berrian

Mikey trades MSW + SanMoss to Joe-Bob for Larry Fitz.

I'd move Welker for MSW. They're pretty close, but MSW gives you a lot more upside from your WR3 position. If we're talking about a WR2, I'd probably prefer Welker.

gotcha.given the talk surrounding welker's current injury status i'd personally much rather have msw...higher upside and lower risk IMO

Getting Fitz for MSW and S Moss is not getting hosed if you are "stacked at the wr position." WHy not upgrade RBs by shipping off WRs?
 
Seems to be a common idea these days. I have Moss and that's about it (lost Gonzo). Was offered Sims-Walker and Moreno for him. Like both players, but not big on moving a stud for depth. Probably belongs in the AC forum, but since others mentioned it, figured I would as well. Tells a lot about the (perceived) value of Sims-Walker.

 
Considering starting MSW. Have Moss, AJ and Desean Jackson though in a start 3. I love MSW but I think DJax is the way to go. Bummer.

Not singling you out or anything, just pointing out that the bold is a great case of people's perception taking awhile to catch up to reality.MSW is WR9 in my 1/10 .5ppr 14-team league. That's a WR1. Given that his ranking isn't artificially inflated by a crazy 45pt game and a bunch of snoozers, I'd say the guy has a very good chance to maintain that ranking, and, frankly, maybe it's the Kool Aid talking, but the way Jax is picking it up, he's more likely to move up rather than down. :)

 
I missed out on this guy :sadbanana: I wish I could gush about how I'm starting him this week too, but I can't. I went the route of Manningham instead - starting to wish I hadn't.

 
Starting MSW & Bowe and I'm not sure who else (Maybe Morgan against the weak ATL secondary). I hope Bowe is healthy and a better play than last week (didn't start him)

We have similar scoring (MSW is WR7) and if you remove week 1 (prior to Williamson's injury), he's WR4 on a PPG basis.
 
Listening to Cecil on the Audible, he's not a true believer, citing injuries as the concern. Hoping this kid can continue to prove people wrong.

After his start I got offered a first round rookie pick for walker. This pick will most likely be 3 overall at worst. So basically now I'm trying to evaluation his talent vs that of the incoming draft @ RB/WR.

Take the pick and run. Top 3 picks in dynasty leagues are what dynasties are built on. Over the past 3 years in my dynasty, the 9 top-3 picks are Adrian Peterson, Calvin Johnson, Marshawn Lynch, Darren McFadden, Matt Forte, Jonathan Stewart, Knowshon Moreno, Chris Wells, and LeSean McCoy. Of those 9, I'd take any of them over MSW straight up. The only two that are even close are McFadden and Lynch, and even they win out because they retain so much residual value due to their pedigree. And if you wind up with the #1 overall in an Adrian Peterson/Calvin Johnson draft, then look out. And if you don't like the talent, then trade the draft pick next year- draft picks are always worth more right around the rookie draft, and you can almost certainly get so much more than MSW back in trade. Normally draft picks are overrated in Dynasty, but top-3 draft picks are arguably the single most valuable resource available to an owner.

so now he's a behavioral problem to go with an injury concern? or is that overreacting? we still don't have the full story of what happened do we?

All I've heard is that he stayed out well past curfew. If so, that's not too troubling for me as a Sims-Walker owner in dynasty. Players outgrow immaturity.
 
Most likely cost me a win (though I still have the NYJ DST so there is some hope). But I can't be too upset, the team I played didn't play Roddy so I guess it just wasn't meant to be this week.

Correct, we never heard any direct quotes from MS-W, and all Del Rio has said is "we'll handle it internally".This is not a factual article I am quoting, but I agree with the sentiment of this writer at the bleacher report.com

This is PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL, not pee-wee or high school, where, if a player breaks a certain rule, they should be held out of a quarter or half.

No, Sims-Walker was held out of an ENTIRE GAME. You don't hold one of your best players out for an entire game unless something major happened. I would have been perfectly fine with holding him out for a quarter or even a half. But not the WHOLE GAME. And for what? A violation of team rules.

Let's be real, people. Why do you think the Jaguars wouldn't reveal the rule broken by Sims-Walker?

Probably because it was a stupid, non-important rule, and Del Rio, trying to assert himself over a rookie team, suspended Walker.

And look at the result. Sims-Walker is no Maurice Jones-Drew, but he is probably the second best offensive player on the team.

Without Sims-Walker, Garrard couldn't do anything with the ball.

I could be wrong, but my guess is the bolded part is correct. JdR was being stupid and petty trying to prove a point, and IMO, he went too far.
