Mike Vick > Anyone else not buying into the hype? (1 Viewer)

a lot

Vick's end of game stats do not tell the story in thsi game. He played very poorly, and looked eerily similar to the old Vick in Atl. He has shown in the last 2 weeks that when faced with a good defense, he will revert to what he knows. His stats from yesterday were due to them playing from behind, and on that note...the late TD shouldn't have been thrown and just as easily could have been picked off. All that being said, I think Vick rebounds this week against a poor Houston defense, and everyone will be back on his bandwagon. As I have stated before, Vick has always been a good FF QB, and with the added weapons in Philly, he will continue to be a good FF QB. But as an Eagles fan, I view things slightly differently. I do not see the Eagles going anywhere with Vick, because I think that good teams will scheme him out of the game, and make him beat them in the one way that he can't, with accurate passing. Also, I think that Andy has reverted back to the Andy of old with Vick at QB. In that they are passing or in a passing formation and Vick scrambles alot. Rather than the balanced offense that we have clammered for for years, they are back to the pass happy offense, in which they abandon the run unless they are up BIG late in the game.

This is why you don't bump until the game is over. Another tough defense, another pretty good game
He hasn't scored less then 24 points in any game he has started & finished this season. He only has 1 tough defense remaining and that's against the Giants who he already put up over 24 points against. He's the highest scoring QB in terms of ppg in standard FBG scoring. Sure he may have a let down week, but every other top-10 QB has had at least 2 sub-20 pt. games. Vick has had none.I wonder what the OP's definition of a let down is.

And the throw to Desean was a great throw that should have been a TD, if we're going to play the what-if game. And I disagree on the late TD anyway; it was fourth down with 1:54 to play, needing two TDs; a risky throw in that situation is almost guaranteed. He got lucky that it got through, but getting it picked off is no different than an incompletion.

Do you really think Vick was schemed out of the game last night? He had 333 yards passing with 2 TDs and 44 yards rushing. He threw one INT on a deflection at the line of scrimmage. The Eagles lost this game because of their defense, not because of anything the Bears did against Vick.

I think Vick was the least of the Eagles problems yesterday: unless you blame Vick for the 4 TD passes to Cutler and allowing D. Hester and Jennings long returns. A healthy secondary for the Eagles could make a big difference and if these teams meet again I could easily see the Eagles winning.

I guess people really see what they want to see. Like I said before...haters are funny people.

Vick is a heck of a player, but all this MVP talk makes no sense to me. You can't give the MVP to a player who hasn't played 16 games, and I think some people are a little too taken in by the whole story of Vick. You gotta appreciate what the guy has done to come back and play at this level, but it's too soon to "crown his ###".

Vick's numbers should be good, he threw the ball 44 times. 133yds passing and 11 yds rushing are in the last 2 drives, with the Bears playing a softer (no big play) defense. For some reason, Vick gets all the credit when they win and none when they lose. He was incredibly average the last 2 weeks, and if not for the defense they would have lost last week. The defense played great against Indy and the Giants, and tehy had a bad game yesterday. But I think in the last 2 weeks it has been proven that he is still the same player he always was, just now he has better weapons to hide some of his flaws. He is a good QB, but I think he has alot of the same flaws as McNabb has. I think while Vick is a phenomenal athlete, his is an average passer, and in the playoffs that will be exposed by good defenses. I am just stating what I see now, before we get to the playoffs and I have to listen to everyone all the sudden notice this. Vick is a good QB, but just like McNabb, they are trying to make an athletic QB fit the system, rather than get a QB that fits the system or convert the system to fit the QB.

This thread is about Vick and his FF value, not whether or not he should be the league MVP. The OP, I think, believes Vick will not be a reliable top QB down the stretch or in FF playoff time. I think that's complete BS.I'm about to be 9-3 and the 3 games I lost were the one where Vick got hurt and 2 when I had to start someone else at QB wjem he was recovering his rib. He's been among the top scoring QBs EVERY week he's played at least half the game. For me, he has absolutely been the FF MVP of my team and I imagine there are others who would say the same.

7.6 yards/attempt still represents a good game; it's not just that he threw a bunch. I can only think of two throws where he missed opportunities, both to Celek down the seam. Frankly, he looks like a great fit for the offense, better than Kolb. It's the defense that was exposed.

I couldn't agree with this statement more. He is an absolute stud in FF, and should be an unquestioned starter every week. He is a superior athlete and plays for a team that throws 60% of the time. That is a recipe for FF success, just as it was for McNabb for many years.

:) That was the whole point of the thread. I think Vick is playing at QB1-QB2 level. From a FF perspective, the dude is money. The original OP saying to "temper expectations" I thought was ridiculous for this guy. He's putting up pass & run yards each week and scoring around 20 FFP. Frankly, that's what I expect out of my QB. I don't expect 50-60 pt games.... That's the bonus plan, but with Vick you always have the chance! To be honest, the biggest scare as an eagles fan for me, wasn't Vick's play, but rather the lack of defense. I think Vick'll be fine the rest of the year and as for the NYG in upcoming weeks, anyone that follows NFC East, knows that the NFC games can be HUGE! I would expect a shoot-out again with the NYG.

I think we can close this thread. He's ranked 7th in my leagues scoring despite missing 3 games, getting hurt early in another game (got 2 pts) and played one half of another game. He's 2 pts behind Brady and 34 pts behind the #1 Rodgers. He's been an absolute stud regardless of who he's played.

He's now ranked 3rd* (2 pts behind Rivers, 14 behind Rogers) for total fantasy points after another 30+ point week. Up next, the 22nd ranked pass defense of the Dallas Cowboys.*per Data Dominator

there is no other QB i'd want going forward in FF for this season, so while every QB has a risk of a potential letdown, Vick has the highest potential by far.

I've been a longtime Eagles fan so I always try to temper my expectations, however Vick has been very difficult to stop. Last year, Chris Johnson was unstoppable, Vick has looked close to that, so saying he could be the Best player this year is not a stretch. 5 out of the 6 weeks he's played, he has been crazy good.
I think, given this game, it's prudent for teams looking toward the big picture to look forward to weeks 15 and to a lesser extent 16.

:wall: Well, he's over 20 points in my league.Make that over 24 yet again. So your warning was for what? Face it, Vick has been the top FFL QB this year.Over 30 now.

You shouldn't play in leagues that don't count the 2nd half of games.

This halftime bump was so incredibly stupid that I have come to the conclusion that icon is an alias for HK and he was trying to reverse jinx Vick. Thanks, you won me my game!
