Mike Wallace left the game during the game winning drive last week. On Monday or so it was reported that he has a rib cartilage injury and that he would be limited in practice this week. All indications from the team so far, though, are that he should play this week.
What type of injuries can be sustained to rib cartilage? What sort of affects would those injuries have on athletic performance? I am no doctor, but I imagine that he may have torn some cartilage from the bone (pure speculation). If that is the case, it seems like the kind of injury that could really limit a person's ability to partake in athletic activity without pain. I have a hard time imagining being able to run at full speed with a painful rib cartilage injury, since each step, and with every breath, your lungs and chest are expanding, contracting, and otherwise being stretched.
I really do not know what injury he has and what affects it would have on a player. That is why I am asking the shark pool if anyone knows what sort of injuries can be sustained to rib cartilage, and what sort of affects those might have. Is it possibly time to sell Mike Wallace before we see his potential blow up, super stud emergence season turn into something completely different and his value plummets?
