Miles Austin - just seems soft (1 Viewer)

Watching the game on Thursday, when you saw him head to the locker room, you just knew he was out for the game. He just seems like a soft player. He's frustrating because right when you think he's going to produce, you get a game where he gets nicked and he's down for a week or two. He has to lead the league in starting games but then coming out early.

Austin is one of the least soft receivers in the league. Other than Boldin, nobody in the league relishes contact (and even initiates contact) quite like Austin.

Agreed and most of the games he has missed have been due to hamstring issues, which are not an indication of being soft IMO (unless you also think that Isaac Bruce was a soft receiver - as he missed numerous games early in his career due to hamstring problems).

I know what you're saying. I said the same thing about Hakeem Nicks a couple of years ago, and had the whole message board come down on me suggesting otherwise.

You know how it is with those undrafted guys from tiny schools like Monmouth. They've had everything handed to them on a silver platter so they take it for granted and don't feel like they have to work hard or play through pain just to make it in the NFL.

hijackBruce's picture is next to "Soft WR", dude never fought for an extra yard. He slid and dove to avoid contact like a champ. Still was an amazing route runner and player though.

He's certainly been a frustrating player to have on the roster this year as a WR2. Assuming he's out for a while, who will replace him for targets?

it must be amazing to be able to perceive how much pain and debilitation a person is feeling from watching them on tv
