Missing FBGs (1 Viewer)

I was looking through some old PM's and came across one from @Brave Sir Robin.  What ever happened to him and his wife?  

Side note: My first PM was a warning from Joe Bryant to stop using incorrect thread icons on my posts.  Remember on the old board you could choose an icon for your thread?  I would just pick a random one when I would tell one of my long winded stories and he gave me a warning not to do that. :lol:   So the next time you think to yourself, "Boy, this board has changed", no it hasn't.  Love ya, JB!

BSR was quality people.  I guess it's "is."  But I don't think he posts anymore.  I'm pretty sure I'm friends with his wife on FB.  I think she "liked" a picture I posted of my daughter, so she's still around. (edit, but i don't think she posts here much either).

I'm friends with his @Mrs. BSR on the Facebooks, as far as I know they are both well and good

I'm going to defend Joe on this one (but not at your expense - you didn't do anything wrong).

First, they may have been hoping that the new feature would work and they could build a board culture where people used icons for politics, baseball, etc. Instead of having new forums people could sort by icon. I don't know but it would have been cool to see.

But second, I bet some dolt reported you for it.  And you got a message because you were inadvertently creating more work for him and his staff. 

Joe took a lot of grief from people who felt like they were getting treated unfairly by a free service he provided.  And the boards probably drove subscriptions early on so it felt like we were customers who were entitled to a board that worked exactly the way we wanted it. 

Now the boards have died down, they aren't driving nearly as much business as they used to, we all complained about advertising and it doesn't make enough money to justify click baiting, and yet it's very expensive to host everything.  And in theory we're all grown ups and should be less of a pain in the ###.  Yet we're still making work for him and #####ing about the moderation.  

Can we take a minute to appreciate that same as day one includes "free" and "lots of cool people" and "I'm not scared to open a link at work".

Totally get that.  And I've always come to Joe's defense for how he runs the boards.  You could scour these boards and I would be willing to joke bet any amount of money that I've never said anything bad about how he runs this free service.  

My post about the icons wasn't a knock on him.  It was just a way to show that the boards have pretty much always been run one way.  I don't think they're any stricter than the first day I logged in.

He left. Came back. Left. Someone says he has an alt in the shark pool. There aren't really any religious threads here anymore even in psf. 

 
thanks. City is finally moving forward buying my house and that will help a lot with the stress. My grieving has really subsided. It was time. I should be ina  new house by February, so something to really look forward to, as well. The community support here has been off the charts and very helpful.
