This was written before Gord Downie's terminal brain cancer diagnosis but it's kind of hard not to think of it in that context. It's also a really good song, IMO and the lead single from this album.

Just give me the news
It can all be lies
Exciting over fair or the right thing at the right time
Everything is clear
Just how you described
The way it appears, a world possessed by the human mind

Then I think I smiled
Then I think you said, "it's fine"
And quietly I dressed, in a world completely possessed by the human mind

8.07 - The Tragically Hip - In a World Possessed by the Human Mind

It may need a little work
I gave some brief thought in the juke box draft of pairing up my songs every other round (I think I was near one of the turns). Like one song sampling from another, covers, one song referencing another, etc.

I can I magine if everything were connected how bad a snipe would be mid draft that tied a bunch of your songs together.

It's "You Can Leave Your Hat On" but it's not on Spotify regardless.  There are lots of other version of the song though.

ETA:  That would be a particularly creepy song choice on Karaoke night
Don't care.  It's Tom or nobody.

but real pick...on the heels of funkadelic, I needed something with a little more groove than my typical 3-chord garage/post-punk stuff. he's got a looot of tunes that work for this, and of course the obvious one- but with another of his

8... home is where the hatred is.. Gil Scott-Heron

Round 8?

White Stripes -  Forever for Her (Is over For Me)

I always loved the build in this underrated tune.  With all the Stripes available I probably could have waited, but I wantes to be sure.

There are two I should have taken first that will now get sniped for sure.  Happy snow day!  Coming down strong in R.I.

Are you with me?

I go to the bar, I ring my coat,
I call the bartender
Said look man, come down here,
He got down there

So what you want?
One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

8.xx - George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers (six words in the group name as well) - One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer

Not the original version of this song, but probably the most popular, so I'll roll with that.

A great jukebox song that I don't think went in that draft

Just me and my good buddy Wiser, that's all I'll ever need.
