MixTape Draft - 6+ word titles. Finish your draft and listen to mixes! (2 Viewers)

If we're going to stick w/ two a days, I'd suggest spacing them out a bit more.

I'm West Coast so I'm making a pick when I wake up and another at 9AM.  Picks later in the day will give people more time to listen to stuff and keep nerds busy after dark.

I was thinking about this today too.  How about we do the 2nd picks starting at 4pm est?

It might throw a big turd in the punchbowl, but let's try an impromptu bonus round since everybody is caught up.

I reward you with being able to take your 12th rounder tonight!!

We will start with round 13 in the morning and do round 14 starting 4pm est.

12- The Mamas & The Papas -

Dedicated To The One I Love.....

This is the best version of this tune and it's the only hit I believe with Michelle singing lead and not Cass.

Not sure where this is from

While I'm far away from you my baby
I know it's hard for you my baby
Because it's hard for me my baby
And the darkest hour is just before dawn…

Would have been in contention for my first round pick if I was drafting older stuff.
I am always debating if I should pick newer or less well known stuff or maybe highlight a particular band or artist vs. picking what I like the best. When a Youtube video of a song I am linking has 20 million+ views I don't know if I am adding much value to the draft. Generally, I end up going through songs I have listed with 5 stars in iTunes and that is more than enough to complete any of our drafts (aside from when I have to draft "Q"uarterflash). I am considering double dipping into two artists I have already picked and the filling out the rest of the draft with songs that I am pretty sure have never been in any of our drafts.

12th Round - Whitney Houston - "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)"

I've drafted Whitney before, but this song has never made it into one of my mixes.  If you don't love this song, you're a terrible person.
I reminds me of one of my roommates my sophomore year in college. Her purse was always full of drugs, and every day at 3:00 pm she went to the neighbors house and took bong hits with him, and they watched General Hospital together. I remember her dancing in the family room singing to this song. I also remember a time when she picked up some shrooms for some of us before she went out of town, and wrote on the chalk board in our hallway "Fungus is among us.  It's a treasure hunt!" She hid them, and we had to search the place like the DEA to find them.

I like to think Whitney would've approved of all of this random drug usage.

12.xx - Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Want To Have Fun

Another 80's tune that rules.  And continues to keep my draft list from being a sausage fest, I stumbled on this one researching earlier this week.

Only six words, but oh such copious amounts of bonus points for having Captain Lou Albano in the video.

Since round 12 is apparently the international women's round

The Bangles - "If She Knew What She Wants"

They started with a great song written by the talented Jules Shear and made a gorgeous recording that avoids most of the production excesses of 1986.  The Rickenbacker solo in the bridge is a lovely touch.  There's some confusion around the use of third person pronouns in the lyrics but that's a minor quibble.

I was driving, taking chances
Walking way too far out on some broken branches
Sometimes where you’re going, Is hard to see
I always knew there was something missing
They said no one could ever get me to sit and listen
I was always trying to leave... babe it got away from me.

Round 12 - No Time to Crank the Sun - EL VY
