Good lord people, over-react much? This is what I hate about the shark pool, every little bump and bruise is over analyzed into the worst possible senario. In an hour or so, he'll need his leg amputated.
Yes, this is confirmed, they have amputated MJD's leg.Tough break for MJD and his fantasy owners
i'm more worried about how the amputation might affect his BMI

Did you see the hit? Hard not to overreact to that
Uh, yeah, I did. Football is a rough game, they're not made of glass......
Yea football is a rough game, and players get hurt every game........

Yep, just saw it reported by Adam on Twitter

darronm Fantasy WHEW RT @Adam_Schefter MRI on running back Maurice Jones-Drew's "lower extremity" is negative. It's only a bruise.Jones-Drew is fine.

i have the #1 pick in a 10 team ppr league. i was on the fence between mjd and ap but i guess this answers my question.
Does it?I'm in the same situation (but a 12 team) and am worried although his knee is fine and there are no broken bones, will he be limited to start the year, and could this be something that lingers into the season. Not a serious injury, but one that limits his burst and overall production.

He's just got a bad bruise, he'll be fine. I'm sure they have the bests painkillers money can buy.

I have the #6 and if the 5 owners in front of me are Chicken Littles like many of the previous posters are HE'LL BE MINE! :excited:

Guys, you should take ADP and not think twice...PPR or not

As a basketball player at what I think I can call a pretty high level, I can tell you from experience that this type of bruise is extremely unpleasant. It actually does make every cut and burst and jump and slide and spin (slide is like a juke almost but quicker if you don't know bball) a little bit slower, and each one hurts successively more, especially when you get a break...and you get a break between every play in football.I think he will be limited a few weeks going in. And painkillers are, in my experience, worse than just going through the injury. The only thing that limits you is pain, but the haziness from painkillers, IMO, puts you at a lower level than just dealing with the pain.By week 4-5 I think he'll be fine, but then again people will be hitting him every game 20+ times most likely, so it may linger into 6-7. It's really easy to aggravate the bruise. I had one that lasted an entire season once.

So is this temporary nightmare over?

Is it safe to keep MJD at the top of the board, if we had him there prior to this scare, or will after many drafts in the next day or two, JAX come out and say MJD is limited due to the injury? How close to 100% will he be come week 1? Wish I knew before tomorrow evening.

Correct me if I'm wrong but i believe you are drafting tomorrow as i am #1, I have debated this back and forth for a forthnight, i'm not sure that even makes sense it just sounds cool. That being said I will be sticking to my guns and still drafting him #1. This is PPR so aside from Forte or LT even Jackson i have to pick MJD even with this scare. I still haven't seen the play

Jones owners, prepare yourselves now for a slow start. Dont overreact... just be patient. Dont start threads about trading him..everything will just fine

I don't anticipate a slow start at all. An Xray and MRI both confirm it's a bruise. He's an NFL running back. And they're facing the Colts in week 1. The Jags and MJD play well against INDY. We draft later today, and if he's availableto me, i'm drafting him and watching him put up nice numbers in week 1. Especially in my PPR league.

I agree, he starts slow EVERY year even when he healthy, he eventually rises to the top though. That said people taking him over ADP are nuts, ppr or not. screens and swings passes are going to be a big part of the vikes game with Favre in the fold.

just played a little pickup football with some friends. got kicked a little in the shin as i was going up for a pass. icing it now, which seems to be helping. someone call del rio and tell him to ice down MJD.

Are you sure you don't need your leg amputated?

Just picked him #1 Overall, feel a lil weird I dont feel like i picked a stud. Everything else tells me you made the right decision

Maurice Jones-Drew-RB- Jaguars Sep. 7 - 1:03 pm et

Maurice Jones-Drew (shin) sat out Monday's practice.

MJD rode the stationary back and was seen walking without a limp. With X-rays and MRI negative and coach Jack Del Rio downplaying the injury, we're not concerned about his Week 1 status.

Even if they amputated the leg, I don't think he'd get off to a slow start again the colts run defense.

Who is the handcuff to have here, Greg Jones?
People keep asking and the answer is that there's no clear handcuff. If MJD goes down you'd likely see a RBBC of Greg Jones and Jennings until one of them prove they can handle the load or the Jags trade for or sign another RB. Even so you are still likely looking at a committee approach.

So does that mean that Greg Jones would be the best handcuff to MJD?

Greg Jones also didn't practice, according to the same Twitter report. Hadn't even heard G. Jones was hurt previous to that report. Anyone familiar with the G. Jones issue?

I'm told MJD was cleared for a full practice today but haven't been able to confirm it yet. So treat it as a rumor for now.

Wed, Sep 9

Jones-Drew is practicing again, a welcome sight for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Advice: Jones-Drew missed practice Monday because of a bruised right leg. He got hurt in the final preseason game last week when Washington cornerback Fred Smoot tackled him low from behind, a hit Jones-Drew is still upset about. He worked in full pads Wednesday, showing no problems running, cutting and catching passes. Coach Jack Del Rio said there's little doubt his offensive star will be ready when the Jaguars open the season at Indianapolis on Sunday.

Maurice Jones-Drew-RB- Jaguars Sep. 9 - 2:39 pm et

Coach Jack Del Rio confirmed in a conference call that Maurice Jones-Drew (shin) returned to practice Wednesday.

Jones-Drew is in no danger of missing Week 1, and David Garrard confirmed that MoJo "looked good" on the practice field. Behind only Adrian Peterson, Jones-Drew is an easy top-two RB play against the Bob Sanders-less Colts.

Maurice Jones-Drew-RB- Jaguars Sep. 11 - 7:04 pm et

Maurice Jones-Drew participated fully in Jaguars practice Friday and was removed from the Week 1 injury report.

We're still startled at all the late-preseason concern over MJD's shin "injury." It was a bruise. The Colts will start Antonio Johnson and Daniel Muir at defensive tackle on Sunday. There are four career starts between them, and both have been cut by multiple teams. Now 100%, MoJo is set to run wild.

AND no Bob Sanders!

 The Colts won't have SS Bob Sanders (knee), so former undrafted free agent Melvin Bullitt will start. Further secondary issues lie at right cornerback, where either diminutive Tim Jennings or raw underclassman rookie Jerraud Powers will stand in. With LCB Kelvin Hayden likely to keep Torry Holt in check, Troy Williamson has a good shot to build on his stellar preseason in Week 1. Then sell high...DT Ed Johnson is serving a one-game suspension, the Colts are moving smallish DE Robert Mathis back into a full-time role, and second-round pick Fili Moala failed to distinguish himself in camp. Add in Sanders' absence and Maurice Jones-Drew should start piping hot.
