6.06 Anthony "Rumble" Johnson- Light Heavyweight
How many LHW's drafted after Round 2 would be considered a big favorite against AJ? I'm going to go with none. He has looked bad only when doing severe damage to himself with unnecessarily dramatic weight cuts leading up to the fight. Otherwise he has been borderline unstoppable. His wrestling has always been underrated and he has dramatic power in both his hands and feet any any weight class. I think he has finally found a home at 205 and should continue to improve for at least a couple more years.
All of them? Shogun, Gustaffson, Evans, Texeira and Davis would all be favorites over him. Bader would be a pretty tight line.

He's looked "borderline unstoppable" because he has been fighting cans.
Gust would be over -220, I overlooked him. That was my bad.

I would take AJ over the other 4. He would dominate Texeira.

ETA: No way any of the other 4 would open greater than -160 over AJ.
 Who on Earth has "Rumble" beat at light heavyweight? I'd take all 6 fighters listed above easily, Bader included.
What the heck could Bader do to damage or win a round against Rumble? Johnson is 6'2" with a 78" reach. That gives him a reach advantage over everyone except Davis who has 79". I would give him the striking advantage in every one of those fights.
Wrestle? Wait for Johnson to inevitably gas? I do think that would be the closest matchup of the 6, so maybe I shouldn't have included Bader in the easily group.

Well I guess I better grab this guy before Bonesman gets him for his nickname. Here's a guy who could easily be HW champ. No one is going to knock him out, and he is an amazing grappler. He has one punch knockout power, and really breaks the mold when it comes to MMA fighters. At first I didn't like him, but now I really look forward to his fights.Roy "Big Country" Nelson
Easily?
Yep. Easily. He fought a heck of a fight against JDS, and I could see Big Country beating him next time. Nelson can grapple with Cain, so Cain would be forced to trade punches with him. All it takes is an opportunity and one punch from BC and he is HW champ.
He got tooled pretty well by JDS, Werdum, and Mir. I'm a big fan of him and his fights, and think he's a good pick, but I don't see him sniffing a title.

lolI like Roy Nelson, and I don't think he is a bad pick here, but he cannot outgrapple Cain and Cain would not hesitate for a second to take him down.

He did have pneumonia directly before the Mir fight and it was apparent. That is one fight that should be pretty much erased from the history books, really sucks when it was main event.

Johnson has only lost once, via eye poke that should have been a DQ, in fights where he has had a full camp and came in at the contracted weight. If he wasn't a moron and attempting to fight at an unhealthy weightclass for most of his career it is hard telling what his potential was/is as a fighter. I predict we will see him back in the UFC, and at 205.

Don't you hate the feeling you get when you think you HAVE to draft a particular person with your next pick, otherwise you've screwed your whole roster?

7.02 - Gegard Mousasi

After Mousasi beats Gufstafsson in a couple weeks, my team is going to look a whole lot better...

I think you might be forgetting what an amazing grappler Nelson is. He was the Grapplers Quest Superfight Champion in 2003, which is very impressive. He just doesn't need to use it in his fights.

I'm not. I've seen the clip of him beating Frank Mir in that tournament. He has an excellent ground game for a Heavyweight, but Bigfoot Silva's is better and Cain was fearless in completely neutralizing that. Roy vs Cain would be such bad news for Roy.

Well then. I'm sold.

first bad nickname:Donald Cowboy! Cerrone
one of my favorite fighters, but your overall team nickname strength is starting to come back to earth after a fast start. (I think it would have been pretty awesome if he'd chosen "Rice" instead of "Cowboy")

I was actually thinking of Rumble as a possible HW flyer for the late rounds after watching the Arlovski fight. I agree he's got some talent and looks better at higher weights, but I think the only guy he'd be in the ballpark with right now is Bader. I think the other guys would be pretty heavy favorites.give him a few more fights at LHW/HW and we'll see what happens, though - he's got a hell of a lot of power and solid wrestling/athleticism. One thing I think he definitely needs to work on is his gas tank because he looked shot after a round and a half the other night.

agreed - Roy has a puncher's chance against anybody, but he has a hell of a hard time against the elite guys at HW. He'd be a lot better off if he'd lose the belly and drop to light heavy.still, at this point he's one of the better HWs still out there, so I don't think it's a bad pick.

He closed as barely a dog vs Belfort at 185 lbs, in Brazil, even after running into medical trouble the day before the fight. I think some of you are really selling him short.

:hot: I was starting to have some hope he would make it to me, you stabbed in the heart here bud. A Hunt-Overeem match-up for my HWY belt was looking fantastic
I'd share him if I could, mo.One of the most legit cool guys on the planet. If you have twitter, follow @markhunt1974. If you don't have twitter, sign up and follow @markhunt1974.

He is focused and on a win streak. He won his last fight while overcoming multiple injuries. JDS is a very tough matchup for him, but if he can pull it off he will be the most I've ever cheered for an underdog in a title fight.

If Hunt's road to the title ends at JDS, this rematch needs to happen in real life.
and if he lost that one too, would love to see the UFC open the doors again to Lavar Johnson and see that fight. Would have been a superb fight to put on Fox

I like Hunt. I really do. And I cheer for him whenever he fights. But let's not forget that before his current four fight win streak he lost six straight fights, ALL in the first round. And he lost five of them in under 2 minutes.

I think he's got some talent, but I'm pretty surprised he's getting this fight against JDS and I think Hunt has no chance in heck of winning.

He lost due to not having submission defense that he has since greatly improved with the help of Greg Jackson. He was a K1 Kickboxing Champion that saw no reason to train for those types of fights because that wasn't the type he wanted to fight. To say he doesn't have a chance against JDS is ludicrous, it wouldn't even be the craziest thing that has happened in his career. Nobody that hits as hard as Hunt can ever be counted out.

Big difference between Struve and JDS.Of course Hunt has a chance to catch JDS with a shot and hurt him. But I just have a hard time seeing Hunt how Hunt will win this fight.

Figured I should take a Flyweight before it's down to people I've never heard of before. "Uncle Creepy" always puts on a show; if his first fight against Mighty Mouse was 5 rounds like it should've been, he would've won.

Not disagreeing with that, and not saying Hunt should be a favorite or anything. He will probably close around +300 or so. But it would be AWESOME if he won.

Really wanted Hunt here. Oh Well. I'll go with a guy who has beaten Hunt before. and Couture. and Big Nog.

I agree with that. I would love to see him win.

i'm divided on this 7.1 pick. I got a guy who would sell fights for me and keep the doors open vs. a guy who has had a real resurgence in his career after recovering from a bunch of injuries. Screw it:

7.1 Cub Swanson

Good pick, I feel dumb.

just for clarity's sake, those were picks 7.10 and 8.1 from modogg.
Gracias. In response, i offer this clip that i am sure some of you have seen of Mike Schiavello calling a fight this past weekend for Danny Mainus. It honestly makes me giggle every time i have seen this clip, and i have seen it about 5 times over 5 different websites:http://middleeasy.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=10583:michael-schiavello-made-us-giggle-like-prepubescent-dorks-when-he-kept-making-this-reference-at-rfa-7&catid=34:organizations
