Poor Willie. This injustice had to happen during the FFA's banation of banning.

Maybe they should look into taking on some new staff. @Ministry of Pain, how would you address this if you were promoted to mod?

it went like this:  I asked for suggestions for names for my new band. I asked right away that people post actual suggestions and not jokes.  I realized some would post jokes no matter what but I hoped for a lot of serious suggestions. I didn't tell anyone that we already had a few informal gigs lined up and time was of the essence. I got maybe 3-4% real suggestions and the rest were jokes. I appreciated the real suggestions though nothing stood out to me.  I started playing around with having the name silver or gold in the band name. I ran out of time and settled on a name.  Then the people who did nothing but clog up the thread with boring, unfunny, repetitive jokes went crazy about the name I had chosen. They offered no help at all and then when I came up with the name they told me how awful I was and how awful the name was. This was their contribution. Lame put downs and then rage when something was chosen that they didn't like. Nothing but trying to be funny up until the point of the band name selection and suddenly they're the most passionate people on the planet when it comes to real band names.  Just unbelievable. After that the joke names continued, now much more pointed and insulting.  They never stopped.  I'm convinced one guy sets an alarm on his phone or something that tells him it's time to make up dumb names and post them. It went on and on.  After a month I finally asked the thread be deleted. I'm in rehearsals, hanging out with my band mates and then come here to relax and I have to read the insulting names. It was grating to say the least. Within minutes after the initial thread being deleted a new one is fired up in it's place to give the same four or five guys a place to continue the onslaught of insults. Now that thread has been going on for almost a month. I asked politely, multiple times that they stop. I told them it was insulting to me. It didn't matter.  The thread continued and I'm convinced if I didn't start this thread it would never end. These guys would keep that thread going until the internet died and then they'd find a new internet type network to continue. And it's the same joke over and over. Sometimes the exact same name over and over. Like groundhogs day with insulting band names. To simplify how it went even further:

I'm looking for help to name my new band.

How about old fart depends cialas flaccid dentures?

Please no jokes, I really need a name.

How about old farts viagra dentures depends cialas?

Forget it guys I'm going with this name.

That's pretty much how it went.  Well, not pretty much, that is how it went.  The funny thing is the band name has been well received. We have some great art work and it goes well with that.  The band loves it, the people love it. The only people who don't are the ones here who stop by every day to make fun of a seasoned musician and his musician friends. We have a few audio files up online but you'll never find them and they'll never be shared here.  Thanks to the few who have had my back.  I appreciate it. To the rest of you, I wish you all the best because that's just who I am. -WD

 
NELSON: Well, I believe in jokes. You know, I think jokes are important, a necessity. You need to laugh at yourself, other people, life, death. You need to figure out a way to laugh at everything.

Um...some people asked questions, serious questions, trying to figure out the best way to solve your problem and understand, from your perspective, the best way to approach the problem.  Your response was rude, Willie.  Maybe you just misunderstood and assumed they, too, were trying to be funny.   But I think your slap-in-the-face responses to the ones who were actually trying to be helpful...that's what truly ignited this whole thing.  From that point on, everything was fair game without limitation.  I'm sure you see it differently, but that's how I saw it and I'm sure others did, too.

You want a link to some post in a thread you had deleted?  Having said that, slap in the face is the wrong expression.  You asked for help and then you were rude to the ones who actually tried to help.  Better?

 
I've known a lot of musicians throughout my life. Honestly, I can't ever remember one of them referring to himself or herself as a "seasoned" musician. I'd stop that. Just some friendly, though admittedly unsolicited, advice.

The thread is R rated and for a time x-rated. It is ripe with sexism and ageism. The main thing wrong with it is it isn't funny. Never clever and repetitive.  I humbly ask you delete the thread and to make sure it doesn't sprout up again (the initial thread was already deleted) I ask you to ban the above members. I posted guidelines in parenthesis but whatever you want to do is fine. I was just looking for suggestions for my band name and what I got was insulted over and over for going on a month plus now.  It's gone on far to long and I ask it finally come to an end. Thank you and I apologize to the community for starting the initial thread. -WD

This one has made it onto everybody's list. I thought that was a deciding factor with LHucks for example.  

At a certain point you either change people or you change people.

Regardless of how you feel about Willie or this thread, I think we can all agree on the bolded.

 
Probably been said already, but the Willie Neslon Ban.  Here's the twist, every band member has to take on the alias up an ffa member that Willie is proposing be banned.  So if you don't have six members yet Willie, you better get a few more.

That's simply not true. I didn't say a word until the 4 week mark. I've said very little. "Please stop" was the extent of it. It never would have ended.

"seasoned" was a tongue and cheek reference to the old people jokes. 

 
awwww willie it was all in good fun man you know what they always used to say back in the day when we were kids  they said that if you can not laugh with them and then you go and try to get everyone banned from a football magic message board everyone will probably laugh at you instead and no one will ask you to go to the sadie hawkins dance so man just think about it for a while that is all i am gettin at take that to the bank bromigo
