Moss or Ray Ray (1 Viewer)

Love all the hate Ray gets because he happened to be around when two dudes got stabbed. Amazing how among all the dozens of witnesses to the fights, none placed a knife in Ray's hand and most witnesses had him not even really participating in the fights. But he "settled" in a civil suit, so he must've been guilty.
"Just happened to be around" is a little disingenious. He was involved in the scuffles and don't forget that he actually pled guilty to obstructing justice by trying to cover it up and just happened to completely lose major evidence (backed up by two outside witnesses). Guys who "just happened to be there" don't do plea deals, guys that were involved in criminal activity do.
Or guys who don't want to take their chances with a jury.
Regardless, he still admitted to obstruction in a double murder. That takes him way out of the category of a guy who just happened to be around.
He took a plea to move on. It's not like he wants a trial hanging over him while he's trying to prepare for the upcoming season. Everyone in here talking smack would take that plea in a heartbeat if given the chance. He made a business decision so he could get on with his life. Looks like it was the right one.
That doesn't change the fact that he was more than just a guy who happened to be around.
He basically was. They overcharged him to make themselves look good and to get him to testify against his friends.
:lmao: Ok, you win. Poor Ray Ray is completely innocent, got shafted by the Man and only pled out, payed off and accepted a massive fine so that it all goes away, even though the only thing he did wrong (other than lose his suit) was just happening to be there. Poor guy, hope he recovers from this unparalleled injustice.

There were plenty of witnesses there yet none of them placed a knife in Ray's hand. Why is that?

Whether or not he stabbed someone isn't the point we've been addressing recently. Your claim is that he just happened to be there and took the obstruction plea to basically make it go away. That he wasn't culpable in the incident at all. That's not true.

BS. I'm pretty sure that 100% of us who DIDN'T stab someone or cover up evidence would claim innocence the entire way rather than take a plea. Outside of your little fantasy world, it's not really that difficult to prove you didn't kill someone when, you know, you didn't kill them.
I think there's someone living in a fantasy world here, but it isn't Bob.

Yes because the American legal system is so flawless right? Innocent people never get convicted right?

Let me ask you a question...if you were a witness, would you want to place a knife in Ray's hand? Hell no. He would've stabbed you quicker than you could have uttered...RUN!Facetiousness aside...he probably did his warm up dance and told all of the witnesses that he would pay them a visit if they ratted on him.

The guy I'd like to see get a ring is not Moss or Ray Lewis, it's Frank Gore. He's had a brilliant career while toiling on some REALLY bad 49er teams.

In my mind it's Moss or Ray Rice & Joe Flacco. I'll be happy for either side. Either way, Joe Flacco has delivered the kind of playoffs that make haters shut their pie holes.

This hater's pie hole is wide open- he's exactly who he always was. An above average QB struggling to crack the top 10. Just because he's almost as good of a QB in the playoffs as Mark Sanchez doesn't mean he's as elite as he thinks he is.

Wow. I guess you see what you want to see. I'm sorry Lee Evans couldn't catch an easy pass last year, or you might have already changed your mind. And I'm not sure what Sanchez has to do with it, since Flacco's played in twice as many playoff games. But, as they say, haters gonna hate.

Agreed. Before now, he had struggled in the playoffs more often than not, and his inconsistency in the regular season makes it impossible to consider him elite at all, but his playoff run has been impressive as hell. He's still not elite, but he can produce in big games and has proven that he can be one of the main reasons a teams wins and makes it to the Super Bowl. Like I said, he's not elite, but he's an above average QB.

Right. Because if there's one thing that's true about me, it's that wins in the playoffs trump everything for me. I've demonstrated that over and over again around here. If only Flacco had one or two more playoffs wins, I wouldn't question his eliteness. Just read some of the Manning/Brady threads for 5 seconds and you'll see how blatantly obvious it is. :rolleyes:As for me seeing what I want to see... why would I want to see Flacco not be elite? I like the guy. I've been complimentary of him in the past. For years I was arguing he was a better QB than Matt Ryan (I can dig up the archives, if you want). I love the fact that the SB QBs are from Nevada and Delaware (home of those vicious Blue Hens). I thought he would have taken a much bigger jump by now. I was wrong; he hasn't. I don't WANT to be wrong. I would rather never be wrong, actually. But I see what actually is, and what I see is that Flacco is not as good of a QB as Peyton, Tom, Aaron, Drew, Roeth, Luck, Bob Griffin, Wilson, Ryan (another guy I was sadly wrong about), Romo, and probably Jay and Eli (another guy I was sadly wrong about). Once upon a time, I'd take Rivers and Vick, too, but they've fallen off a cliff. I might take Stafford, Schaub, and Kaep depending on my mood. That puts Flacco at 12-16. These aren't guys I'd take to build around, these are guys I'd take if I just had a single season to play. Instead of calling me a hater who intensely wanted Flacco to prove my faith in him unfounded, how about you mention which of those names you think Flacco is better than today.

To win a game tomorrow? I'd take him over any of the rookies or Kap. Also over Romo, Ryan, Shaub,Stafford, & Cutler. None of those guys except Kap have proven they can win multiple big games in a row.I suspect Ryan may be better overall and Stafford has at least as much talent, but neither has won as much as Flacco. Romo & Cutler have million dollar arms and ten cent heads/hearts. I think all 3 rookies and Kap are going to be champs at some some point.

Ray Lewis, been on the same team his entire career, treats defense like a religion even in an era where the defense can hardly play at full speed.I wouldn't be upset if Moss gets one, he's played a lot of football in his career and whether you like him or not, one of the all time greats.

A good friend of mine works at Gillette ,hes a bartender ,and has dealt with Moss when he played with the Pats....said moss is a top 10 arrogant **** head. Gonna go with i would like to see Ray Rice get a ring.

My friend ,Ray.worked the team/player events...and did i say a lot?And on a side note...the players weren't allowed to drink alcohol at these events and moss would try to get the bartenders to serve him booze and would cop an attitude when they said they couldn't

Okay, well...a few things:* I have no idea what you've "demonstrated here." No offense, but I don't know you. No need to dig up archives.* I never said Flacco was elite, so I'm not sure where you got that. I said he's shut up the haters. This has been an impressive playoffs. For those who said he didn't have it, this run has been a powerful argument to the contrary.* You called yourself a hater: "This hater's pie hole is wide open." I didn't direct the original post to you. You identified yourself as a hater. * As far as guys you put ahead of Flacco... you included guys who haven't even won a playoff game. Not sure if you're just thinking of fantasy football or what, but it seems clear that you're giving no weight to his growing post-season resume. If you want to rescind your claim that you're a hater, that's cool. I never said you were one. I'm just impressed with Flacco and think he's forced the haters to shut up this post-season. I'd be happy to see him get a ring, especially if he can go the entire tournament without committing a turnover.

As I understand it, Flacco claimed he was elite, and the people who laughed at him for it were the "haters". That's the standard I'm applying here when I call myself a hater. Either way, I think by calling him a mildly above-average QB, I'd probably fit anyone's definition of hater. As far as preferring QBs who have not yet won playoff games... that wasn't a mistake, and I was referring to real football, not fantasy football. Do you really think that's surprising? In 2003, would you not have preferred Peyton Manning to Trent Dilfer or Brad Johnson? You know what correlates better with future playoff wins than past playoff wins? Being a better QB. I'm giving weight to Flacco's burgeoning playoff résumé (which, prior to this season, really wasn't all that impressive), but I'm not giving it UNDUE weight. If a guy is average in 16 regular season games, and then great in 3 playoff games, we don't throw out the first 16 games of the sample, instead we look at the entire 19 game sample and conclude he's mildly above average. He's good enough to put up a strong 3-game stretch. That stretch just happened to come in the playoffs.

+1 for Moss. I've always liked the guy....he's just different but isn't fake. Whenever I hear Lewis talk it feels scripted and fake as hell. Everything about Lewis beyond football feels shady to me. JMO

I don't have any issues with Ray Lewis, but I definitely would rather see Moss get a ring. He was simply too great on the field not to get a ring to solidify his place near the top of the WR all-time rankings.

i dont like ray lewis and all the love he gets. he is a great HOF player, yes, but a real bad human being. Every one talks about how great of a leader he is and how he is doing this for 17 years and its the lions last roar, his sick grandma. and every one ignores his suit mysteriously disappeared in a double stabling. he even testified against two members of his entourage and nobody was convicted of the crimes. why do people throw themselves at these super athletes. He is worst then Lance Armstrong or any PED baseball player.A few stories have trickled out of Akron, Ohio, where the mother of one of the victims has finally forced herself to go see his graveform a trib article.

Wes Welker’s wife lost it after the Ravens beat the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game, writing on her Facebook page: “Proud of my husband and the Pats. By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis’ Wikipedia page. 6 kids 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay. What a hall of fame player! A true role model!”She apologized for such a crude statement, but there was a good, unstated question in there: Why are we lionizing this guy?

I really don't think people even think about rings with WRs when ranking them. For instance, I thought Alworth retired ringless until I looked it up and saw he got one with Dallas in his twilight. That ring has zero impact on how I view Alworth, and I strongly suspect next Sunday will have no impact on how people remember Moss. Unless he wins SBMVP or catches the game-winner, of course.

That's fair, Moss' ring (or not) will be as a complementary player in the twilight of his career. Probably nothing more than a marginal aspect to his legacy.

Apparently you haven't seen many pics of Wes' lady friend. He's probably quite thankful just to have her and likes her a little out of control. :excited:

And she loves his new hair transplants

Quitters don't deserve rings.
:excited: Randy and I are still tied with ZERO Super Bowl rings. Sometimes life is fair.

:banned: :banned: :banned:
Youre also tied with Tim Brown.
And thousands of other guys. But as long as Randy and I both go to our grave without a Super Bowl ring, it's all worth it.
Lol I suddenly hope Moss resigns with SF for 1 more year.
There was talk of that already but I can't imagine he's a huge priority for the team.Either way, I've hexed him this long -- I can do it one more time. :gang1:

I'm really happy for Ed Reed and Joe Flacco, as well as the Balt Ravens (minus Ray Lewis). Reed inparticular deserved a ring to cap off his career.
