1 year deal...think this is a step in wrong direction for a young team/QB

49ers agrees to one-year deal with Randy Moss3/12/2012 8:31:21 PM The San Francisco 49ers have reached agreement on a one-year deal with wide receiver Randy Moss according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. The 35 year old wide receiver worked out for the 49ers this morning. He worked out for the Saints last week.
:lmao: @ 49ers. The embarassment by the bay is back. :lmao:

:lmao: Still so much hate for Moss. Maybe it's for the 9ers.

This is a great signing for SF. There is virtually no risk. If he doesn't work our then he can easily be cut. If he does work out, he could be the player they need to get over the hump. They need a WR who can do what Moss may still be able to do.

:goodposting: How can anyone bash this signing without seeing the numbers? I doubt he got much guaranteed money...

Chemistry?

If Harbaugh thinks for a second he will cause that problem, he will cut him. I think Harbaugh is just the kind of coach Moss needs.

He'll quit the first time Alex smith misses him, and there will be many more. I don't think Randy makes it to week 1

Harbaugh himself was throwing the ball to Moss. If he likes what he saw I think he's proven that he knows what he's doing. I personally like the move.

Saw this coming as soon as it was mentioned that Harbaugh was going to throw to Moss himself in the tryout (given league rules about players practicing). The guy seems downright giddy. I half expect Harbaugh to take some snaps in a game.

Like Braylon Edwards?

Tough to say how it'll pan out for them. I don't see how randy can bounce back, but after the two years he had anything can happen with that guy. It's not like they're putting a lot on the line and if there ever was a wild card it's randy.

Not thrilled but I think it shows that Moss was serious to sign with the first team that believed in him. Harbaugh obviously did.

He could have tried to milk the workout news from last week for more options but obviously felt very comfortable in SF.

Funny that he signs with SF, the team that best the Saints last year with great play at QB by Alex Smith.

You mean the same Braylon Edwards that signed for a 1 year 3.5 million dollar deal?I'm sure this is the same thing.

Can Alex Smith throw the ball past 20 yards? Moss might have 5 catches 200 yards and 4 TD's haha

Moss still has something left. Didn't the saints report him looking really good? Sub 4.4 40?

He's still Randy Moss, the most physically gifted WR in BFL history. When he's motivated, he plays well.

I have to thank the 49ers. I'm usually a sucker for the "veteran WR who changes teams" it seems every year (e.g., TO, Moss, Ochocinco, etc...) and had Moss signed with the Saints I would've likely ended up being all over him this year and pushing to have him on every roster. By signing in San Francisco, I can now more readily avoid the temptation.

How is this any different than the Edwards signing? Not a good fit for this team and their limp armed QB
The limp arm qb that overthrew a speedy Kyle Williams in the NFC Championship game?
wow one throw. Are you saying Smith doesnt have a weak arm ever since his shoulder injuries?
You're only as good as your last game... And that was his last game :shrug:Seriously though, I think Alex is capable... He not any closer to 300/game but that is more due to his decision making (which is sort of improving)... Your posting made it seem like he is not capable.

Im a 49er fan. I have no problem with Smith as QB for now. His decision making was awesome last year. But he has a noodle arm and a guy like Randy Moss (and Braylon Edwards) whos only route they know how to run is deep routes doesnt fit this team.

That's the beauty of it though... Teams will need to respect the guy running right by them on every play... All we need is for Alex to connect once or twice per game and he is capable of that

Randy can't run right by people anymore. That's why his production dropped off a cliff; he doesn't want to take hits over the middle, and he can't burn people deep the way he used to.Jerry Rice stayed productive for so long because he fundamentally changed the way he played the game as his body changed. Randy Moss has not and will not.

Kaepernick has a howitzer. He'll find Randy deep. Don't think they burnt an early 2nd round pick to have him ride the pine forever

Apparently 2 teams seemed to think he could still run by people and or would do the other functions of a WR. To me it was telling that SF left the practice field and signed him the same day. It's an indication that they didn't want him trying out for other teams so they too could see what he had to offer. It was a smart move.

His performance dropped off like a cliff b/c of his attitude issues. It was only a few years ago when he was shredding records. Motivation is the only thing I am concerned about... Not ability

He was traded by the Patriots. The same team that held onto Chad Ochocinco all year. He did nothing in 2010 with Tom Freakin Brady and Brett Freakin Favre. Hes done people

I'm pretty sure he ran right by Revis only 2 years ago. Then later ran right by Cromarti. Is he Moss of 5 years ago? No. Is he going to have lost a little bit more? Probably. That doesn't mean he still can't be productive. This time last year nobody would have even imagined the guy would get signed. This is what, the 4 time now we've had to hear about Moss being "done." Why don't we just wait and see this time. The bottom line is that SF is getting him for practically nothing. Even if he is "done" then it won't be any skin off the 9ers back.

He scored 3 TDs in 4 games his last year in NE. The 4th game, they didn't throw the ball to him even one time. He pissed off the BB and the OC. It's laughable how the haters will try to portray it. He scored 2 TDs in 4 games with the Vikes. That's 5 Tds in 8 games, or on pace for a 10 TD season and he was basically taken out of the offenses on purpose because he pissed off the wrong people. Moss simply gave up after that. Let's at least try to be realistic about things here. Hate only clouds judgement. The above stats are facts.
