Most Electric Player All Time (1 Viewer)

Tyreek Hill really deserves to be there, too. The game is just so much faster these days and he's faster than everybody in it. Watch this. It's insane. He's just moving at a different speed, with lateral cuts and agility that defy description.

If Hill does something similar tomorrow, I'll be pleased.  Players are faster today on average, but OJ and Bob Hayes wouldn't take a back seat. Simpson was 6'1", 210 pounds and did a 10.3 100m, Tyreek did a 9.98. Hayes did a 9.9.

If we're talking about guys moving at different speeds than everyone else on the field then any of Kyler Murray's redzone scrambles should work there.  He's got this weird form that makes it look like he's not even moving and then zoop, he's got a td.

Bob Hayes, even though I'm too young to remember, was very rare. That is indeed true. Some of the older track guys could indeed give some of the more modern guys a run for their money. Nice memory.

My rankings:

  1. Barry Sanders
  2. Gayle Sayers
  3. Deion Sanders
  4. Hershel Walker
  5. Bo Jackson
3, 4, and 5 were tough to rank.

There's no else that my fuzzy memory can pull out as far as adding to the list. I really have not seen any players pre-1978, so there are probably a few players that I would include in my personal top 10 or 15 list.  I will give a shout out to Gary Anderson (Chargers). Although I don't think he belongs near the top of this list, he had a couple of plays that I will never forget especially his iconic 5-yard vault for a TD.

My vote: Sir Barry.  The only player I have seen who could run 20 to 30 yards, break or elude 4 or 5 tackles to net a 1 or 2 yards gain.

A comment: personally, I would distinguish between "electric" on one side and "unstoppable, dominant, etc." on the other.  Some folks would be in both lists, others in only one of the two.  For me some of those mentioned above would be in the "dominant" list but not in the "electric" list.

I’m seeing a bunch of players mentioned who are great players but I wouldn’t call them electric.

my first thought was players like Barry Sanders, Prime Time,  M Vick.

Darren Sproles was pretty darn electric.

Barry was first that came to mind when I saw this or Reggie Bush for college.

Are you familiar with what Barry Sanders did his junior year in college?  No running back even comes remotely close in matching what he did.

Not talking stats, talking watching them play. I've never seen a player more electric than Bush at USC, it was like a video game.

I don't watch much college football, admittedly, but when I saw Michael Vick at Virginia Tech, my jaw dropped. He just flat out looked like he was at a different speed and had a joystick out there. It's too bad that during his prime he wasn't into film study or he would've been one of the greats even before the jail sentence.

Agreed Vick really was and took he position to a whole new level. Unfortunately not being into film study was an understatement, imagine if he cared.

I think it's gotta be Barry but, Michael Vick did unbelievable things on the field too.  Can't argue with either one.   I still don't know how the same guy was running circles around defenders while also throwing that incredible deep ball

One of the most unbelievable games I’ve ever watched live.  Capped by another super-electric (not on the level of this thread) player balling out.  Potential candidate for “Most Electric Game of All Time” thread.

Mike Vick curb stomps Gints

Barry and Deion were the two that came to mind immediately.

Brett Favre is one that I haven’t heard mentioned.  He was fun to watch.

Marshall Faulk was very electric, more so than Barry. Joe Montana was a maestro.

Emmitt Smith

Priest Holmes had a cup of coffee as one of the most electric players ever.

defensively:

Charles Haley was so unstoppable. Lawrence Taylor. Reggie White. Ed Reed.
Like the priest mention, very underrated

Good ones mentioned so of those not seen, hard to do much better than rookie year Portis, THAT was electric

wouod Also give a nod to Randy moss as a rookie doing things we never saw

Sayers and Sanders were the first names to come to mind.  OJ is also up there.  Dude could kill it on the field too.

Favre gets tons of accolades, and deservedly so, but I am not sure there has been a more overrated QB in NFL history.

Just as likely to throw a crunchtime game losing pick as a game winning TD.

Great player but we really ignore all the flaws because we love his "gunslinger" persona.

I agree, but he didn't at least not until he realized how finite NFL careers are and hooked up with Andy Reid.

I like the Darren Sproles mention.

This thread is about being electric, which is hard to define but, like art and pornography, I know it when I see it.

Sproles was electric.

Not Barry but no one else really was.

Great comment.

It reminds me of a comment Shaq made during his peak Shaq years with the Lakers and lost out on the NBA MVP.

When asked if he was disappointed Shaq, in classic Shaq fashion, said something like "I don't need to be the most valuable player, I'm happy being the most dominant."

I'm having trouble finding highlights, and this could just be fanciful remembrance from childhood but Lawrence McCutcheon comes to mind, again vaguely, as a guy who had some pretty electric moments for the Rams.

Not upper tier elite but IIRC dude was a fun player to watch.

Vick had the fastest acceleration I’ve ever seen.
He was at full speed after his first step.

Sanders, Moss, LT, AP, Hill, all electric…

Not the most electric but Randall Cunningham was definitely electric. He amazed me so many times throughout his career.

Those two plays and the TD after he bounced off Carl Banks tackle attempt were special.

This was the one I was forgetting.  He could do it all.  Totally electric with a cannon arm, and golden leg.  Him and Bo were the most physically gifted and athletic players I have ever seen.  Jim Brown was similar I was told.
