I'd say Italian. We have an Olive Garden in our town and it's not that great really, although unlimited breadsticks are a tradition I wish other cultures would adopt.

Where do you think they came up with the term Uncle Tim ®Politician Spock said:You don't come across as being Jewish to me.GottinHimmel! Have you tried the breaded veal? The sauerbraten? Shame on you!German food is pretty disgusting.
It's very tasty but the lack of texture (or maybe the lack of variety in texture) is kind of a turn-off for me. Nothing crunches or snaps or takes much in the way of chewing. It's just flavorful but mushy stews with non-descript injera bread. There are some cuisines that I could eat just about every day but Ethiopian food isn't one of those.Ethiopian food is some of the best stuff out there, dammit.Ethiopian
I'm not convinced Ethipiopians are actually starving. They just don't want to eat that crappy food.![]()

I'm basing this on a sample of 3-4 places I've been to in SF, not the entire Horn of Africa so don't go hijack my boat to avenge the insult.
Used to think this until a trip to Germany with some locals who took me to good places. Now I look for German places when I'm traveling for work to eat at.German food is pretty disgusting.

Without a doubt. And it's hard to beat a bavarian pretzel. Toss in some beer wench wearing those short cut blouses and a skirt and it'd be a great place to hang out.Used to think this until a trip to Germany with some locals who took me to good places. Great beer and usually really cool atmospheres.

But if I want some actual meal, german food is way down my list compared to other ethnic options.
Metzgers in Ann Arbor and Richters in DearbornI agree, but my point is... there are no German restaurants. If it was any good, you would be saying thatPlus, it's not prevalent, so it can't be overrated. "hey honey, let's hit the German restaurant for dinner tonight"I wouldn't go so far as to say it's disgusting, but I find it really bland. I like schnitzel, but spaetzle is blah.German food is pretty disgusting.![]()
That's not Italian food, that's American Italian processed/microwaved food. Not knowing the difference might be more sad than going to Olive Garden in the first place. I went for the first time in 15 years recently and found almost nothing on the menu that actually resembles something you would get in Italy.I love Italian food, but Olive Garden makes me think twice about that.I'd say Italian. They rarely fry calamari in Italy and when they do it isn't all breading, there is no such thing as Lasagna fritti or fettuccine alfredo, and chicken Parmigiana is fairly difficult to find. Italian food is so good because the tomatoes, cheese, and the vegetables are all fresh. In the U.S. it is very difficult to find good Italian food beyond the major cities, because a real Italian restaurant requires quite a bit of work. Stuff like Passatelli, Tortellini Pastacciati, and Saltimbocca are the best Italian dishes and are difficult or even impossible (Passatelli) to find here.
I don't think I've ever met someone who has been to Italy that didn't like the food. Why? Because it's the best cuisine in the world. The French are second, everyone else is way behind and our versions of those foods are as bastardized as we are. NTTATWWT.
Places with terrible food: England is the worst, Romania and some of the Eastern European countries also can be bad. Ireland is England light, the people have terrible teeth because they'd rather eat pavement than eat the gruel served there.

My sister and her husband are planning a trip to ireland. I asked why and she replied "why not"?That's not Italian food, that's American Italian processed/microwaved food. I used to be a non-believer as well. Then I had some good schnitzel and spatzle with some fried potatoes. A bit of sausage with spicy mustard. I may have to go to a place this weekend now!Without a doubt. And it's hard to beat a bavarian pretzel. It took me a coupe of years living in Germany to appreciate the food. Not my favorite because they specialize in pork and I don't dig swine as much as others do, but German food can be very good. Flammkuchen is great, Sauerbraten is solid fare, and the Germans really make great pastries. Not my favorite cuisine, but it's pretty good IMO.I used to be a non-believer as well. Fridays years ago before it became a true corporate chain was pretty good IMO, but that was years ago. They closed the one down here years ago, and there is no other restaurant that serves food, beers and booze up until 1 am here anymore. The most overrated cuisine is American semifast chain food. Applebees, Chillis, Olive Garden, TGI Fridays, Ruby Tuesdays, etc. Only time I go to these places is when I'm in Michigan visiting my family, and it's not because I want to go. I seriously like microwave dinners better, not shtick. I really don't see a big difference except places like Olive Garden give you portions for three people and wonder why we have so many fat pigs.
We are less fat than Saudis though!!!!!! Take that!
They have Olive Garden and most of the others in Saudi lmao
Well yeah, the fish and chips are great and that really is probably their most famous dish.I do like fish and chips from time to time, and I hear they're much better in England, but I wouldn't know personally...I was in London once when I was 16, and the food was awful, but I never tried fish and chips.

I had fish and chips in London. The chips were meh, but the way they perfectly fried a large haddock fillet with a light crispy batter was truly impressive.Well yeah, the fish and chips are great and that really is probably their most famous dish.I do like fish and chips from time to time, and I hear they're much better in England, but I wouldn't know personally...I was in London once when I was 16, and the food was awful, but I never tried fish and chips.
But fish and chips is pretty hard to screw up if you have a deep fryer and some vinegar.
You do realize neither of those dishes are Italian right?Never been to Italy. Best Italian food I've had in my life has been in New York's Little Italy and in San Francisco's North Beach. Of course, southern California has some awesome Italian fine dining as well. My favorite dish is veal picatta. Also Caesar salad.

Um, no. Veal picatta is an American dish from the 30s. Ceaser salad is a Mexican construct.Schtick? You do realize neither of those dishes are Italian right?Never been to Italy. I knew about Caesar, but since the best Caesar salad I've ever had was at an Italian restaurant (Caffe Pinocchio in San Francisco, right next to the City Lights bookstore) I thought I'd mention it.
I did not know that Picatta was American.

RibollitaYeah I never saw Chicken Parm in Italy but they have something called Parmegiana. I'm not sure it's even meat though, although I think in Sicily they use that term for leftovers that include meat. Italian leftovers are awesome because they use all the stuff from the previous couple of days (or like after a party because they don't leave many leftovers) and then prepare whatever fresh ingredients they have to make a meal. It's not stuff you'd ever get at a restaurant, just a mash of goodness.
