Multiple Players on same team? (1 Viewer)

Pretty self explanatory...how do you guys feel about having 2 or more skill position players from the same NFL team? Personally a combination of positions I don't mind if it is 2 players from the same team but I really don't like having 2 WRs from the same team, or more than 2 players total from the same team. Obviously bye weeks become a problem, but also I feel my potential for higher weekly average scores isn't as good, where as the consistency of one of the 3 or more having a good game is highly likely (assuming they play for a good offense).

I ask this because I find myself in a situation in my dynasty league where I have AP, Sydney Rice, and Percy Harvin. I inherited the team with AP, traded Rice for Shockey (I also had Zach Miller and only Greg Jennings as a legit WR) and ended up drafting Percy Harvin in our rookies only draft. Heading into this next season AP is a restricted FA, Rice will be an unrestricted FA next summer, and I have Harvin restricted and signed through 2011. Obviously there is a lot more at play here than just these 3 guys but assuming i resign AP am I just asking for it by having 3 guys from the Vikings???

As a note this is a PPR league that also rewards KR yards so Harvin has pretty good value as well. I would put this in the Asst Coach section but I am looking more for responses on the idea of several guys from one team than advice on my particular situation.

My main money league is not PPR. But it never has bothered me to have 3, 4 or 5 players from the same team on my roster. I've had 3 players from one NFL team on my roster multiple times. 4 players at least twice and one year I had 5 players from the same team...QB, RB, WR, WR, DEF. I had a successful campaign and won some money, but not the title that year. I haven't missed the playoffs for 7 years straight.....the longest such run in my leagues history.

It just depends on which team you choose to have 3 or more players from....should you choose to go that route. I've done it with Indy multiple times and the year I did it with 5 players, they were from Arizona in 2008. The NFL team you go with must be one of the more prolific teams that year, or it could spell doom.

As far as Peterson, Rice and Harvin, I'd say stick with them. Surround them with other viable talent and you should be okay.

I had Schaub/AJ last year and loved it. Guy in my league had Peyton/Wayne. When they are on, it's feels almost like "doubling up" with the "combo points." And you can get your "bye weeks" out of the way.

I think Chase did a study on it awhile back and it didn't seem to matter. I just wouldn't want my entire team relying on one player, if he were to happen to get hurt - think if you had Peyton, Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne. Peyton gets injured (although he never has) and misses the rest of the season, you're probably toast. AD/Harvin/Rice wouldn't be as horrible as Peterson is likely to get points without Favre, although I think Harvin would slide; but if you had Rice, Harvin and Favre I'd trade one of them if you could get equal value.

Drinen did a similar study, linked in post 255, 256, and 257 of the wannabee thread in asst coach forum. Here is link: http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...6784&st=250

Those are some old Drinen articles but I assume the results still hold

I have the #7 pick in a redraft and was pondering A.Johnson at 7 and then Schaub with my 2nd round pick, although it maybe a little early for him...

I don't know about most situations, but i'm in a PPR keeper leauge that starts 3wr and D-Jax is an automatic keeper with what I have to work with. I plan to pick Maclin as D-Jax handcuff/insurance with some upside as a WR3. I don't think it woulld be advisable to try this with a run first team, but a pass first team like the Eagles I should be able to get away with it.

I guess what I'd say is, like every other questions in FF, it depends on the situation.

I usually think its a bad idea to have the wr and rb from the same team because you limit your opportunity to get big games from both on the same day. If peterson rushes for 200 yds and 3td then its unlikely that sidney rice will have 150yds and 2 tds, is the logic im using. This is probably failed logic tho and at the end of the day you get the guys who you think will score the most points.

I am targeting Smith in rd 3, Nicks in rd 5 and Eli in 7 in a PPR 12 team redraft. I will be thrilled if I land all 3. I may even take Bradshaw in rd 8 is he is still there. BTW, I hate the Giants.

I had Brady & Moss last year.

Let's just say I won't be doing that again.

When the packers played the vikings last year I had 6 of my 8 starters in one game. :headbang:

I would assume that if your multiple players are from a winning team, especially one that puts up some points, your win/loss should be close to that teams' win/loss record. Which is a good thing. Obviosly, when that team struggles - so will your team.

I'd be curious to see what your team would score last year if you had

Rodgers

Grant

A rb

Jennings

Driver

A WR

Finley

Greenbay D/ST

Crosby

I think you'd probably do ok most weeks. I wouldn't have that many players from one team but it doesn't scare me off.

Alternatively you could have

Favre

Peterson

RB

Rice

Harvin

WR

Shiancoe

Vikings D

Longwell
