Music that gives you chills (1 Viewer)

David Bowie - Space Oddity

Heard it right on the heels of hearing the Space Shuttle Challenger had exploded on January 28, 1986.
Another Space Shuttle song that always gets me is Countdown by Rush. I love the way they mixed in the NASA audio in with the music and lyrics. Just about every time I hear it, I start get the chills with the helicopter's R to L flight thru to when the PA announcer says "This is Shuttle Launch Control" leading into the first verse.

I was 11 when the first shuttle launched, and the SS program hit me for some reason. For those of you too young to remember, this was HUGE news when it happened. These were show-stopping, nothing else on TV stuff for hours leading up to the launches. I remember being magnetized to the screen when it was happening.

Green Day U2 post Katrina

THat was EPIC at the time.

Speaking of, how about Faith No More's "Epic"?

Back in the late 80/early 90's, in the basketball world, "Right Now" (Van Hagar) and "The Final Countdown" got a lot of people pumped.

"Eye of the Tiger", "Fly" (Rocky theme), and about anything going on in the Rocky soundtracks always has a way of setting the mood.

The beginning of Jeff Wayne's musical version of "War of the Worlds" and "Thunderchild" from the same album

Was listening to the TK show this morning, and since today is Roger Daltry's b-day they were playing The Who songs on all of the bumps coming back from breaks. On the first one, they played this one, and it gave me the chills. This has b=one of the better openings in Rock; the chills usually hit me at about 0:25.

Influenced by the latest music draft:

Dillinger Four's Midwestern Songs of the Americas and Huddie Ledbetter both give me the chills constantly.

Lots of music does. Radiohead's austerity, Weezer's warmth and harmonies. Refused's Shape of Punk To Come. So many others at various times. Bob Dylan's lyrics.

The Beach Boys circa '65 and '66, The Beatles. The New York Dolls can. The Stones can, too, at times, but only set to visuals.

I just love music. I'm easy to get chills out of if you do it right.

eta* Cash and the Red Dons are pretty consistent chill-inducers also.
