Summer Grooves - Collaborative Playlists - Playlists completed (1 Viewer)

The Letter by Xavier Rudd (beach/surf)

Summertime Rolls by Jane's Addiction (summer)

Beach/surfing/tiki - Seu Jorge - Carolina

(Seu Jorge more than just some novelty Bowie covers. Nothing specific about the beach in the lyrics, but gives a feel good vibe. Makes up for me forgetting to pick something from his Músicas para Churrasco (Songs for a Barbecue) album for the BBQ mix playlist.)

“Summer” in the title - Taylor Swift - Cruel Summer

(My wife currently on her way to Liverpool for the Taylor Swift concert. A nod for that.)

That will be fun. Is this her first Taylor Swift concert and her first seeing a show in Liverpool?
I think this will be her fourth Taylor Swift concert — she was at the Eras tour in Philly last year too. Her first time to Liverpool. My son still in school for a few days this week, but I’m flying out to London with him later this week to meet up once school is out and turning into family vacation.

Have a great time across the pond!

My sister's family is also planning a vacation centered on TSwift's Wembley concert. She and her daughters are going to the show while my BIL and nephew are heading to Liverpool to check out Beatles-related stuff.

Also I wanted to add 5 Seconds of Summer - She Looks So Perfect, but summer is in the band’s name instead of the song. Pretty generically perfect pop song.

Soulful x2

Cruisin' to the Park by Durand Jones and the Indications

Summer Breeze by The Isley Brothers

Not specifically summer, but enough of the good feelings that associate with summer…

Soulful/funk - Chic - Good Times

Soulful/funk - Tim Maia - Que Beleza

I considered Tim Maia for my MAD 31 this round, as I think his music would give some good summer vibes, but opted for Mayfield in the end. Maybe down the road, but will give him a nod here. Que Beleza = How Beautiful, and lyrics about the beauty of nature around us.

Country summer x 2

Used them in a different category already but they’re on our go to summer mix. My wife’s favorite band.

I used the fins up version with my Jimmy list last fall, great song imo.

Thanks for putting everything together, DQ. I've caught up on playlists today as I've tested positive for COVID. :frown:

Oh no! Were you traveling? Hope it's a mild case.

Sorry not to be around much for this, but I'm looking forward to the playlists during my weeks-long move across the country. :)
I was at a conference across the river in Philly on Friday and Saturday. Presumably I picked it up there.

When I had it in 2022 it was akin to a bad cold. This time feels similar but even milder. No fever, less coughing and sneezing. The main things are bad congestion and throat irritation.

Denning up and chicken soup seem to be required here.

Thanks again all. And hope you get well soon Pip.

I made an executive decision this morning to add Françoise Hardy’s Soleil to the folk/acoustic playlist. RIP.

(Could have gone in “sun” title too, but folk/acoustic a bit shorter and felt right there.)

Garbage - Only Happy When It Rains
Pink Floyd - Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun
Len - Steal My Sunshine
Walking In The Sun - The Zombies
The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon 🌞
Surf City - Jan and Dean
Eddie Cochran - Summertime Blues
Summer Rain - Belinda Carlisle
Rock The Boat - The Hues Corporation ⛵
Love Rollercoaster - The Ohio Players

Adding an extra one for the Dead Can Dance fans.

A high school friend told me about Dead Can Dance, and I had never seen their name written, so I thought forever that they were Dead Canned Hands.
