Thanks for the group invite and Friend Invites. Anyone else that wants to friend me feel free. Name is Banemorth.

Today was AWFUL.

Didn't have breakfast and figured I'd go to Friendly's for Lunch. I didn't realize just how terrible their food is. 1k Calories for just their single cheeseburger?! WTF?! I can eat 2 1/2 of my home-made burgers for that much! UGHHHHH I don't plan on letting this happen again. Bah.

That seems high, did it have anything fried on it or a special sauce? Those can be killers. My go to burger is an in-n-out double double with grilled onions and no spread. Sometime I make it protein style(lettuce wrap). Those run 650ish in calories or 480ish for protein style and satisfy my craving if I want a burger. Also it has a solid amount of protein, just don't look at the sodium.Whatever you do dont let a bad day stop you. Just make peace with it since they will happen and in the long run it won't make a difference if your not consistently doing it.

Little worried about being way under calories? I am eating. I am not hungry. I had a protein drink when I got home from a walk just to catch up a little. Still couldn't make it to 800 calories.

Yup, exactly what Madshot saidOne of the things I love about MFP is you have the chance to "make it right" almost immediately when you have a bad day. Want an extra piece of cake? Office ordered pizza and you dont have the calories? Run it off, walk it off, whatever... you can always bust your ### and earn more calories. Not like some of these "all or nothing diets" that stop working if you eat a piece of fruit.

Um yea, that's a problem GB. Ghandi would look at you and tell you to mix in a burger.

i think I hit everyone up with invites. FYI if you are a member you can invite people. I don't need to do it

Ok I'll take an invite. "0tis" (with a zero)

Getting started seriously today. Lifted weights this AM. Just weighed in. Wife cooking up two hard boiled eggs for breakfast and packing me a healthy sandwich for lunch. Here we go...

Invite to what?I don't think the proper documentation has been filled out in triplicate yet.

The bun was huge and looked to be toasted in butter. Was good but damn. There was also a special Mayo they put on it that I requested they leave off. Today is going to be hectic but I plan to be under today by the amount I was over yesterday. Not going to have time to eat much at all today until dinner and my wife is making broiled cod. Then I'll work out for an hour. Should be negative on the day.

The calories in a good bit of restaurant food is amazingly high. Went to Smokey Bones not too long ago and got 8 of their smoked wings, 800+ calories.

Luckily most chain restaurants have their menus and dietary info on line so I look everything up before I order.

Seriously? Is it that bad? :unsure:Smoked a pork loin yesterday afternoon, but only felt like eating 1 slice. Had some rasberries, carrots, and pumpernickel bread with it. It was a good meal.

Yes, and it will make you never eat at Applebees, Olive Garden, etc. ever again (assuming you do eat there). A lot of their entrees are pretty much your whole day's worth of calories.

So far my favorite feature is the "if you ate like this every day, you'd weigh X in 5 weeks" message you get when you finish your diary. I went 95 calories over yesterday, and I hated seeing that message. Very motivational for today and hopefully beyond.

This is a very nice app, especially for free! Thanks for recommending it.

I have just started to jog the last three days and I am trying to better my eating habits (I only eat once a day and because of that I tend to gorge :( )

Would love to lose 10-15 pounds so between adding exercise and trying to spread out my meals and watch fat/cal intake, I hope I can make some progress over the next two months or so.

I also found out that I can join a local gym (Planet Fitness) for free after reimbursement from health insurance so I am probably going to do that which would do wonders in the winter when I sit inside all day).

The one item that may be tough for me as that as a long time cook, I rarely measure anything. I eat out probably 1-2 meals a month so every thing else is home made. I have not tried to plug anything in yet but I may have to break out the measuring spoons to see how much oil I am pumping into my body every day.

what does the group do? Is it a way to watch the progress of everyone else in the FFA?

In any case, please invite BigGreenEgg99 when you get a chance. Thanks!

How do you guys handle things like making soup? Most of my soups are based off of bones and then the bones are discarded obviously after the soup is made. The bones are not ingredients per say but obviously give a certain fat content to the soup that is going to be near impossible to measure.

I think for the most part, every time I cook, I am just going to add the recipe I am making directly and hope for the best.

If you do a search on "home made chicken stock etc they give a general ideahttp://www.myfitness...ervings/9262481

Then just add the ingredients that you add to the stock and save it as a meal.

I find something similar that someone else already entered on the site, and use that

Or you can just estimate the number of calories and enter a "Quick Add".

Jesus, I just had some cherries for a snack and it almost broke my whole budget for sugars for the day.

Holy smokes this app is eye opening.

Only been doing it a few days but I see that I get way too much sodium each day.
my sodium is over every day also. I drink at least a gallon of water in a day, so I hope that takes care of a lot of it.
carbs is likely to be my biggest issue as I am a bread, pasta, potato, rice person junkie

Trying to get to work out a couple of times a week, at least a walk. Daily diet of D-aspartic to see if that helps as well.

I posted on MFP - it appears that the message board is only visible on a pc - which is why I think it stalled before.

Also it appears I have everything private so no one knows how awesome I am...

Everyone's body is different so it may work for you but typically a healthy diet is around 1200 or more calories a day unless you are doing some extreme diet trying to lose weight, think morbidly obese. If it works for you and you don't have any side effects i.e. sluggishness, always tired or sick, have at it. I had 532 calories for breakfast and 522 for lunch. I couldn't do it.

 Was just under 500 for lunch, but only had 72 (1 medium apple) for breakfast. I still won't hit 1000 for the day, and will get a workout in tonight. One thing that helps is that I haven't drank any alcohol since I started on MFP.

Being at such a large deficit also means that your body will start metabolizing muscle and other tissues in addition to burning fat. I never had a problem with this, because you will still lose weight. I figure I can always do weight training after I lose the desired weight. Just know that you will need to make sure you get enough protein.

Thanks. I always seem to go over my protein levels.

The problem when you don't consume enough calories is your body enters starvation mode and your body starts absorbing everything as fat. If you start consuming more calories all of that is taken in as fat. This is why so many crash diets fail, you'll lose 10 then add 20. Most people don't want to be patient, but the healthiest way to lose weight is consume 1300-1800 calories/day (depending on current body mass + metabloic rate + level of activity) with the goal of losing 5-6 lbs/month.

Where do I add what I drink through out the day? Does it go under snacks?
Yup that works.
thats where i put it. but anywhere really.
If you go online, under settings, you can add more categories. I added "Fluids" to mine.
Thanks! Looks like the web site has a bunch of features the app does not yet support.
And there are a lot of topics on the forums. If you post a topic, you'll have several responses pretty quickly.

Trying to create an account. How the hell is the username "kutta" already taken? That sucks.

I guess I'll have to find another method to lose weight.
