My gut feeling is.... (1 Viewer)

I haven't heard or seen anything definitve, but I just feel that when push comes to shove, that the Raiders pull a mild surprise and take the best player in the draft. When you pick #1 overall you cannot afford to take a "project", and from what I've seen, heard, and read, Russell is three years away from being a top half of the NFL QB. He may be great, but he does carry a very high risk, IMO.

My gut feeling is that I'm going to have a caesar wrap for lunch. I know, a mild surprise.

My gut feeling is that this will not end well.

:lmao:

The Raiders are known to want the strong-armed QB for the vertical passing game - Russell is a match. But selecting Calvin Johnson harkens back to drafting Tim Brown (taking the star WR, getting lots of positive returns), and that was a bright moment for this franchise.

Teams with the top pick like to try negotiating tactics to make the guy they truly desire sign for less money. One of those tactics is to show false interest in other players. My gut feeling is that this is what is going on here and they will draft Russell.

They draft Calvin and trade him to TB or another team interested in getting raped......BAM, we get Russel anyway....pay less....and get O Line help with the extra picks.

Makes too much sense to me. Unless CLE or DET takes Russell and has no interest in moving up for CJ.

I agree. I think OAK will end up with Calvin & Culpepper and minus Moss by the end of the weekend.
I understand getting rid of Moss, but why bring in Culpepper and then dump the WR he's had by far his best success with?
That's a really good point. I would just assume that they wouldn't need 3 highly paid WRs, could unload 2 yrs of huge cap numbers for Moss, get rid of someone that doesn't seem "on board" with Kiffin as the coach (or any coach for that matter), and pick up a 3-4th round pick for an o-lineman. I totally see what you're saying though and it does make sense. Moss for Culpepper would be an interesting straight up trade, lol.
