My son clogs the toilet at least once a week (1 Viewer)

Have him drink lots of water, make him eat oatmeal for breakfast and look to change his diet to include more fiber. If all of that doesn't work, try a stool softener.

How often does he poop? It could be he's not going often enough and that is contributing to the size. Someone recommended a stool softener - I would try that. I found out my kid was only pooping like once a week and it was tough then. we tried this with some success. Also have him drink lots of water.
Good advice above...I'd also ask this: Does he cut his food into really large bites, chew a few times, and swallow quickly? i.e. is he a fast eater? I ask becuase my cousin came to visit us, and he laied a couple side-ways logs that wouldn't go down without some carpentry work. He was probably of similar age at the time. I remember he would eat a small filet mignon steak, (maybe 8 oz) in 4 bites. He'd cut it into quarters, chew a few times, and swallow. I was amazed. I'm not sure there's a correlation or not. I am a VERY slow eater, cut my food into small bites (1" x 1" cube of meat is big for me...usually .5 or 2/3" cubes.) and I chew very thoroughly. I'm very regular, and very rarely have BM issues.

I will say that I'm amazed at the ####ing habits of others. The thought of going once a week (or even once every few days) amazes me. I think I'd feel horrible. One time I was on vacation and got backed up for a couple days...I wanted to die.

Just moved into the new Big House. First order of business was to install American Standard Champion 4 toilets. Fourth house I've had with these toilets; still don't own a plunger.

I do need to replace the toilet.
Just installed two of these bad boys last week.
The second I own my own toilets (we rent) I'm getting nothing but these things.

my 7yo son AND 3yo daughter both routinely drop bombs big enough to create their own gravitational field. I spend my day plunging toilets.

You should break it up with a hanger
Plastic knife. Won't scratch the toilet and has a broader blade for more efficiently cutting up ####.

Edited to add: ...and it's disposable.

How about, RIGHT as the train is coming out the tunnel, have him flush. Lots of time, it's because the train, um, piles up before you flush that it gets stuck.

About to buy one of these bad boys and quick question. One piece or two piece, does it matter which is better or the same?

There was a boat-sized turd in the bowl for a couple of days a couple of weeks ago. Finally called him in to discuss what we were going to do about it since obviously wasn't going to take care of it himself. I explained the wire hanger method, and showed him some safety and hygiene techniques.

Will report back following the next clog.

I put one in too after daily cloggings from my 2 boys. Haven't had to use the plunger on it since I put it in. :toilet:

I'm not doubting the flushing power of this thing, but...

how does a video of a toilet flushing down a whole bunch of small things relate to its ability to flush down something large???

You are over thinking it. Just thought it was interesting that it could do it. Try it with your current toilet and report back.
