What functionality are you referring to here @Pokesfan?That's disappointing. More functionality missing.
Sure seems like you guys should have focused on getting the import functionality working this year and then work on your new UI for next season...
Tom, I think that is super important. What I can control is fixing issues and responding to your feedback. Sorry if my focus on that can come across as something else; apologies to any and all whenever that's the case. But we'll continue to work hard on this.I get that Simon is primarily concerned about constructive feedback but Joe and David need to understand that a lot of their customers are not happy with how this was handled.
I can't speak for anyone else but 20 years ago I used to start working on my own projections in May. Work and family no longer allow me to do that, so I have been paying FBG for information and tools to help me be prepared without investing as much time. Every minute I spend trying to learn this the week of the draft is a minute I can't spend preparing for that draft. That's kind of important to me even if Simon doesn't think it should be.
change leagues is two-click. How could we do better there? Definitely plan to have positions split out so changing is one click there. There's way too many clicks needed to change leagues and settings on most of these pages.
Are you guys going to fix the UI? The old my FBG looked a lot better than the new. More info on the screen, laid out better, and much easier to read.
Aw man you got Projectors? The Filter->Projectors sliders are still missing in Firefox. They are there in Chrome,
The only reliable (so far) way I have found to fix this is to unsych, then re-synch to a league of a different size. This league was 12 man but I synched to a 16 man league, then unsynched and went back to original 12 man. This seems to have fixed this in Chrome. My primary league is unlinked yet when I click Rosters I get a jumble of 1/2 team names 1/2 Team 1 Team 2. CTRL F5 doesn't clear it. Chrome and Firefox same result. I re-synch the league, and there are now double rosters, all named correctly. Unsynch, back to original. Synch to a different MFL league altogether, rosters load fine. Unsynch that league, rosters remain from that league. Re-synch back to original league, all is good. This was all in FF. CTRL F5 in Chrome and it's updated now.
How about a brief "how to" for those of us that, if we ever did it, don't remember how. I doubt I have but I'd like to make sure.@everyone who can't see the login screen due to font size being changed to large: this is an issue in the framework code we're using. Not passing the buck; we will look into fixes if we need to but we've asked them for advice/a fix first. We have a support contract with them for this kind of thing.
Here's the workaround for now: if you set the font size back to medium, you can zoom in on the page to increase the fonts. You can also tab into the password field as a few people have suggested. I know that's not ideal; just letting you guys know the ways I'm aware of to work around it while we look into how to fix it.
Thanks again for everyone's patience here. For the tech team, I can say the last few days we've learnt a lot. You'll see improvements to both this system and the way we handle future releases. Once we're up to speed and everyone's adjusted here, our first priority for the tech team is to work on quality control issues. Footballguys is transitioning from a company where guys work independently on stuff to a pro-tech team. We can and will do better on getting you guys releases that are more bug free.
The ability to apply your league ownership to the Dynasty Rankings. That makes it much easier to find potential Free Agents others have missed and trade targets. What functionality are you referring to here @Pokesfan?
The rankings here: http://subscribers.footballguys.com/apps/viewrankings.php?viewpos=ov&type=dynasty have never been filterable by MyFBG roster import. It is something that would be great add in the future for sure.
Agreed. Definitely getting betterToday's changes helped alot. It's a good start. Thank you.
@SimonShepherd - To Simon and the other developers, you guys have been put in a terrible spot. We've all been given unreasonable deadlines by management and I know you guys are busting your asses to try to make this work. I get the spot you are in so don't take this personally - but the website in it's current state is at a beta version at best. Basic features don't even work! I logged in, tried to view "Personalized Rankings", popup said "leagues loaded!", then a "loading..." popup was displayed and it will be there forever - clearly the page is done loading with nothing else going on. This is a perfectly acceptable state for an app/website to be in at some point in the software development life cycle - but not something that should be shared with users 2.5 weeks before the start of the season!Steeler said:I'm a developer too, and I'm on board with the new architecture design 100%. Ultimately it will make your lives so much easier.
But this is a customer service disaster. David said this change isnt about money, so why not pay the syncing service fee for one more year so that MYFBG works now?!?!? People would be happy to review the new my football guys stuff and provide constructive feedback throughout the year. This decision not to run parallel versions is baffling.
I don't believe that was available previously - you referred to it as missing and I just wanted to double check that with you.The ability to apply your league ownership to the Dynasty Rankings. That makes it much easier to find potential Free Agents others have missed and trade targets.
This was ABSOLUTELY available last year. You could go to Forecast --> Rankings --> Dynasty, then select your league, and click apply. It would then pull up a list of all your teams and I think it would automatically highlight FAs (not sure about that, it's been missing awhile). You could then select a team (or Free Agents) and it would highlight those team's players. You could do that with any of the standard Rankings.I don't believe that was available previously - you referred to it as missing and I just wanted to double check that with you.

This was the one screen that wasn't listed on the MyFBG page but did use that data. Thank you for bringing this up! I've added it as high priority. This was ABSOLUTELY available last year. Edit
It was one of my favorite features, along with 10 second primer.
Edit 2
PS: How do you put people's names in a post so they see them?
I'm assuming someone removed it as soon as you didn't have the ability to sync leagues. I promise you it was there last season.I will ask the guy who dev'ed that on this. That page hasn't been changed at all and there's no league select right now.

They don't seem to be aware of their own features/options.Is there a running list of options on the new my footballguys, what's still to come, and also what is or isn't available in the old version?
Looking at rankings. You have to click into the menu, into the rankings, click on a position, unclick another position and click done. Previously it was change position and hit Go.change leagues is two-click. How could we do better there? Definitely plan to have positions split out so changing is one click there.
We also plan on always showing the menu on the left if your screen is wide enough (around 1024px is likely to be the approximate breakpoint)
Any other concerns we can address there? Thanks for the feedback!
I find this sort of exchange to be very troubling, and it isn't the first time there has been an exchange like this. It seems that the current technical team does not have a full grasp of the functionality of the 'classic' products. That will inevitably lead to dropped features, as seems to have happened in this particular case. This was ABSOLUTELY available last year.I don't believe that was available previously - you referred to it as missing and I just wanted to double check that with you.
It's working now. Gotta say although this is frustrating, you guys are working your butts off. @Simon Shepherd has responded to every email I've sent while working on this. That's good stuff and apreciated. The ire should be directed at the top, not the working men and women. Hopefully this is all good to go within a few days.We recommend those using apple devices to download the app in the app store rather than use the site. At least for now, it will give you a better experience (just be a little bit behind in updates). The issue you are experiencing is likely an iPad browser specific issue. The issue you are experiencing is not an issue in desktop browsers.
I asked for something like this in the DD thread and got a pretty unsatisfactory response. Is there a running list of options on the new my footballguys, what's still to come, and also what is or isn't available in the old version?
Bolding below is mine.Simon,
IMO it would be helpful to provide us with a matrix of all total combined capabilities of DDC and the app, which would show which capabilities are implemented in 2016 DDC and 2016 app, which ones will be implemented in 2017 app, and which ones from DDC are not assigned to any future app release. Some of the frustration being expressed in this thread has to do with users having to experiment to discover for themselves what DDC capabilities are not supported in the 2016 app. Perhaps a roadmap/table would better set expectations and you would hear less frustration. I mean, surely you guys have enough intrinsic knowledge of DDC to accurately list all of its capabilities and which ones are supported vs. planned in the app, right?
Ok to be honest guys we got the response we needed from this thread and I think the discussion has covered a bunch of stuff for you guys too. Thank you for your input. At no point did we claim the app was feature-comparable to DD Classic. The purpose here was to work out out of the missing DD Classic stuff what you guys want in this app too. We could have implemented everything but want to avoid a bloated app. So we wanted some user input - thank you for providing it to us. I'm headed out this thread here for now because we're going round and round in circles and I need to concentrate on getting you guys the inseason tools you'll love for 2016.
I won't do a full feature comparison table at this point because we're concentrating on developing in season functionality.
thanks again for everyone's input here. Any user-specific queries from here can go to apps@footballguys.com. I think every other question is answered in our instruction manual or somewhere in this thread. Appreciate the thread is tough to read through but that's the best we can do for now. I'm jumping off for now.
That's terrible. They get rid of a piece of functionality that is honestly the top selling point of a subscription. They implement a new version with pretty much no user input. They do so with no requirements and no design and clearly little to no testing. They don't provide a features list of the new functionality to subscribers. They wonder why we are all upset and complaining. I don't expect Simon to have to answer to that but would be nice if Joe or David could. Or just give us back a fully functioning old MYFBG for 2016 since the new version isn't ready and is very buggy right during draft season.I asked for something like this in the DD thread and got a pretty unsatisfactory response.

Agree with this, but do not expect @Joe Bryant and @David Dodds to do the right thing.I don't expect Simon to have to answer to that but would be nice if Joe or David could. I know they've said the old site isn't coming back but I don't see any other way for them to go. David and Joe made the decision to turn off the MyFBG site before the new version is ready for prime time - there is no reason they can't reconsider. Once the subscription/fee/whatever to the site-syncing service is paid the old software should be back up and running within a few hours at most. That working code should be in-tact somewhere in a code repository and could be deployed within minutes. The only thing preventing that from happening is a decision from management not to pay that fee. I don't think there is (or at least there shouldn't be) a period at the end of this right now based on the current landscape.Let.It.Go.
The old isn't coming back, period. Your best bet is to work with the new and see if you can live with it. If not, oh well?
This. And Joe seems to be one that cares about customer service and making his customers happy.I know they've said the old site isn't coming back but I don't see any other way for them to go. I don't know how difficult (or cost prohibitive) it is to bring back the old MyFBG... But David and Joe have been pretty stand up in the past in my experience. This is not to say they have gotten everything right. I remember at least one other 'ask for forgiveness' instead of 'ask for input' scenario when they flubbed a previous rollout (and there have probably been other examples as well).I know they've said the old site isn't coming back but I don't see any other way for them to go. David and Joe made the decision to turn off the MyFBG site before the new version is ready for prime time - there is no reason they can't reconsider. Once the subscription/fee/whatever to the site-syncing service the old software was using the MyFBG should be back up and running within a few hours (being really generous). That working code should be in-tact somewhere in a code repository and could be deployed within minutes. The only thing preventing that from happening is a decision from management to pay that fee. I don't think there is (or at least there shouldn't be) a period at the end of this right now.
Or we could ask for refunds.Let.It.Go.

How can you have a 10 second primer when pages are taking 20 seconds to load? Common sense please.Where is the 10 second primer button?
Positions will be sorted for sure soon.Looking at rankings. You have to click into the menu, into the rankings, click on a position, unclick another position and click done. Previously it was change position and hit Go.
Sort the leagues in the both the main league menu and on the Edit leagues page. They were sorted on the old.
Scoring on the old MYFBG did not convert to the new. Some of it did though but some of it is totally missing.
Since this was in response to Just Win Baby's quote on the Draft Dominators, I want to just be clear there that in that case no functionality was taken away at all. That's terrible. Does the screen show right away? We're aware that on first load the news can delay things a little but should be better after that.Man. This is more of a use for me for in-season, so no biggie yet, but the FBG Main page is slow to load, and once there, I can click on ADP, and that's about it. :(
People are probably just making this crap up or imagining it. Or I suppose it is possible that the buggy code is preventing functionality from working and is perceived as missing. Or possibly people are describing what is missing in terms that you don't understand and communication is not effectively happening. Anyway given what a shiitshow this amateur website and application upgrade has been, I would be cautious about making such definitive statements. You certainly can't import settings from previous year, you certainly cant load projections from the vbd worksheet, you certainly cant resize windows and customize the layout.Since this was in response to Just Win Baby's quote on the Draft Dominators, I want to just be clear there that in that case no functionality was taken away at all.
We had a call with Doug Drinen, who put together the classic MyFBG. We listed every thing the previous version did, going off the MyFBG page, which was a previous catch all. With the one exception of the numbered staff dynasty rankings. That's why that one slipped through the net. But to address your concern, we have gone through this feature matching process here. I'm sorry that one slipped through.I find this sort of exchange to be very troubling, and it isn't the first time there has been an exchange like this. It seems that the current technical team does not have a full grasp of the functionality of the 'classic' products. That will inevitably lead to dropped features, as seems to have happened in this particular case.
Seriously, do you guys have a comprehensive understanding of the 'classic' products? Requirements specs, design documentation, test documentation, etc.?
I have been working in software development for 25 years, and it really doesn't sound like FBG is following a sound process here, on multiple levels.
Where are you seeing this? Everywhere, or just on the my.footballguys.com subdomain? Does it happen cross-browser?Is there a plan to address the incredibly slow response time on the website?
Let me be double extra 100% clear there. The Draft Dominator Classic is still available so no functionality has been taken away there. People are free to choose between the two systems this year. Happy to answer further questions on that in the Draft Dominator thread.People are probably just making this crap up or imagining it. Or I suppose it is possible that the buggy code is preventing functionality from working and is perceived as missing. Screen shows. Loads a little slow, but not terrible.Does the screen show right away? We're aware that on first load the news can delay things a little but should be better after that.
What happens when you hit the other options? Will do all we can here to sort it - sorry to have to ask for more details there. I do believe we're down to user-specific/setup issues at this point where things work in most scenarios, which is good, but the downside is we need a little more detail to get to the issues found. Thanks!
