Myron Rolle (1 Viewer)

I watched Myron Rolle today on PTI and came away very impressed with this kid. I remember watching him at FSU few years back thinking he was the real deal. All reports I have read out of senior bowl say he has not lost a step. I thought he could of been a 1st round pick if he would of elected to go to NFL instead of Oxford. Now that he has done Oxford, he is coming back into draft this year. Definitely see him as a NLT 3rd round pick, but can even see him going in the 2nd round if he continues to impress through combine. This guy has all the potential I think to be a stud prospect. And his size is nice too. 6-2 215lbs

And with everyone talking about Berry, Mays, and Thomas. I think Rolle could be a sneaky draft day steal.

Real bad junior year memories could linger.

He needs to run 4.5 to stick in the 3rd.

If he is 4.6+ he may even be asked to do LB drills.

Even if he runs in low 4.6's I still think 3rd round could be his landing spot. SS seems to be a better fit for him and I can see a team jumping on him in 3rd round like maybe Philly, Dallas, or Cleveland....Now if he runs in mid to low 4.5's, I think he could jump up into 2nd round. Especially if he performs well in other areas at combine.

Reports about him out of Senior Bowl practices have been all very positive. There are still questions about his speed, yes, but it's his intelligence as a football player that has people impressed. As a result, he has great positional sense and awareness. He's one of those prospects who could well drop to the 3rd round purely based on a below par 40 yard dash, but then outproduce his draft stock.

That's basically what I said heading into the Senior Bowl and when I got there, he did nothing to change it. It's difficult to judge DBs in these practices compared to other positions. However, I agree with what Davlar says. He's an intelligent football player who can anticipate the place to be and hit. If he gets moved to LB, he could very well do what Thomas Davis has done. I think he'll be a bargain in dynasty IDP leagues.

Good analogy there with Thomas Davis. His transition from S to WLB has been tremendous. I'll certainly be keeping a close eye on Myron Rolle and he'll be high enough on my board for my IDP Dynasty league start up draft.

If my team can't get Berry and needs a safety I would want them to get Rolle, a good head for the game is a very underappreciated role at the safety position. Rolle may not have the wow factor of other prospects, but his skill set is good enough to not cause him to be a liability, with his head that's all a team needs to get that position sewn up.

I'm as impressed by Rolle's accomplishments as anyone is, but I have to question how those academic achievements really translate to the football field.

His big knock after his junior campaign was that he was a step slow because he lacked instincts and was a little stiff-hipped.

I think instincts and intelligence are very different qualities.

In fact, if Rolle wasn't an Oxford scholar, the tape he's put down speaks of a middle round prospect that comes with all the risks and liabilities that that type of prospect often does.

He could be elite, but he could just as easily bust.

He's got a lot to prove at the combine.

If he puts up David Bruton numbers at the combine, how much higher than the 4th does the academia push his status? (I don't think he'll test nearly so well as Bruton)

He'll be an interesting prospect to watch.

He comes off as a remarkable, yet humble, man. I'll be rooting for him wherever he ends up.

I just hope he changes his name. :-)

I am old and still think of that Happy Days when Fonzie was making fun of "Myron".

The comparison to Thomas Davis is good, however, Davis showed up at the combine at 230 or more and I think he ran 4.6ish. If coaches think the better play will be LB'er for him he may need to add some weight, if he runs a 4.6 at 215 I think that will hurt him at both positions (How much slower would he be at 230 or 240 which it will take to play LB). Obviously there have been some great players at LB and S that had less skill physically but their football smarts made up for that. That could be his case and a smart team (Like NE) could take a guy like this and utilize him in multiple positions, say what you want about Belichick but he usually gets the most out of the draft and his players.

Im wish Bishop on this. Davis is 240lbs and 6'0", Rolle is 6'2" and 215lbs. Thats alot of difference. Are there any instances available that people are coming up with these 40 times or just educated guesses based on past players? Is he known to be slower/faster?

I know nothing about the guy other than he went to Oxford, hsi name is Rolle which is what caught my eye tonight because of Antrelle(sp?) so I started looking into him.
