NAACP leader outed as white & doing Soul Man routine (2 Viewers)

This is sad, she clearly needs alot of counseling and help and people are straight up bullying her. I could easily see her as a suicide the way she's being treated.
The first step is admitting there is a problem, which she refuses to do. The "bullying" you refer to is probably just people who are frustrated by that.

The only thing that could possibly make this story better, is if she drives to New York to pick up the prison escapees.

TLdr A man who self identified as black finds that he's 28% Asian and 7 % white

His white girlfriend is 2 % African...
On the genealogy show 'Finding Your Roots', 'black' actress Gloria Reuben found out that she was only like 30% African.
don't native Americans only need to be 1/16 to qualify for whatever it is they qualify for?I'm pretty sure that's the rule...all you need is a great-great grandparent to be full-blood.
Really? If that's the case my son is in. Gonna check on that tomorrow.
The Cherokees do not require any specific percentage. You just have to be able to prove you are a descendant of a citizen who was on the Dawes Rolls which was a Federal census of the Tribe taken in the Indian Territory just prior to the time it became Oklahoma in 1907.
Right. The Cherokee are one of the few tribes that don't have a blood quantum requirement for enrollment in the Tribe. But in that case, you absolutely, absolutely, must prove ancestry back to the Dawes Rolls.

If a person wants to "claim" that he or she is an American Indian, what that really means for the purpose of recognition from the Federal government, is that this person is an enrolled member of a Federally recognized Tribe.

Maybe she really WAS born in a teepee.

Raised in northwestern Montana by Pentecostal homesteaders whose twenty-year experiment in subsistence living was closely tied to their faith, Joshua Doležal experienced a childhood marked equally by his parents’ quest for spiritual transcendence and the surrounding Rocky Mountain landscape.

I'm confused about a couple of points here. Mainly:

1. Why is this story national news for several days running? (And why has it garnered 10 pages of discussion here?)

2. Why are people defending this woman? She's obviously a liar and a little crazy as well.

3. Why are people comparing her to Caitlyn Jenner?

https://homeschoolersanonymous.wordpress.com/2015/06/17/heres-what-joshua-dolezal-wrote-about-his-and-rachel-dolezals-christian-fundamentalist-upbringing/

In his memoir, Joshua recounts growing up in the Dolezal’s conservative, Pentescotal home and church. He recounts a raging father, a mother with extreme suspicions of medicine and doctors, home-birthing with birth certificates listing Jesus as witness to the births,
how can she deny that birth certificate?
Maybe because Jesus is unavailable for comment?

Have they checked in front of Home Depot?

1. "Man bites dog"

2. Not sure who is defending her...other than if she really is "crazy" she needs to get help before she really goes off.

3. Because they don't understand what's going on with Jenner and/or it's a way for them to try to devalue/dismiss people like Jenner.

It's starting to look like heritable insanity is the root cause of Rachel's issues.

I wanna say they have, but they might not have checked the lumber department and he'd probably be in there IMO.

3. People started that as a joke. But now SHE is the one saying she "identifies as a black person" which is the phrasing Jenner used. I don't think anyone who is comparing her to Jenner is doing so seriously unless they are crazy like her.

She's bringing up the question as to if it's possible/logical to "self-identify" as a race other than the race of your biological parents. The "Self-identifying" part is why people are making the comparison to Jenner. If one can "identify" as a sex/gender other than the one they were born as (as was the case with Jenner) and can even physically become that other sex/gender through surgery or hormones, what is so different about identifying as a race/ethnicity other than the one they were born as?

1. & 3.It is bizarre to begin with and the right is falsely conflating it with the Jenner story to bash transgender people, affirmative action and overall the left, even though being transgender is not analogous to a mentally ill white woman pretending to be black in order to gain some sort of advantage.

2. Very few are defending her, Whoopi, Cher, and few other celebs have, but really not respected liberal/progressive voices. Both NBC/MSNBC were rather charitable in their interviews but even Melissa Harris-Perry said from the hour she spent with her, that while she seemed sincere in her beliefs, she could well be a con artist.

This country has gone to hell in a hand basket. This stuff doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
I blame Joe Willy Namath. Swaggering off the field, his sideburns an apogee of sculpted sartorium. His wild, untamed facial hair revealed a new world of rebellion of change.

Now Johnny Unitas ... there's a haircut you could set your watch to :hifive:

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Peter Bailey of the Miami Times, the Daily Kos, Michael Dyson of MSNBC....

More and more every day.
But But But...

An individual diary at Daily Kos (of which there are hundreds daily by contributors) doesn't represent the views of the site, just the views of one author.

And Dyson didn't really defend her actions - he said while not AA, she identified with them and could be black "in a cultural sense" and pointed out that "I bet a lot more black people would support Rachel Dolezal than would support say Clarence Thomas" which is true as Thomas is not well liked among AAs who feel that he has not represented their concerns or interests on the court.

Look, I can find links to people on the right who share a distinct minority opinion among conservatives on any issue but that doesn't make them representative of how most conservatives think.

I don't understand the question.

:lmao:

this lady is going to single handedly bring down affirmative action.. now that you can 'identify' as a different race.. what's to stop a white kid from putting down AA on a Harvard application? can they turn you down if you say you identify as black?
I don't think pretending to be a different race/ethnicity to get ahead is something that generally works out for people. Rachel Dolezal's life is probably a living hell right now. Elizabeth Warren's Native American claim will haunt her for the rest of her political career. And when was the last time you saw C. Thomas Howell in a decent movie?
The amazing spiderman? Sure it was a small part (crane operator) but he was in it.

Seems like the list of people supporting/defending her is growing by the hour.

The fact that people aren't supporting her is just another example of the man trying to keep the man in black face down. :hot:
