*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (1 Viewer)

Can you guys get JohnJohn (Fantasycurse42) out of the gambling thread? He's saying he won all this money on bets but doesn't seem to know how to post a screenshot or send an email proving it. He's also the least funny person on the internet sans Joe T. We don't want him over there, please clean up your own messes.

Thank you,

Management
Same guy is in the stock thread. Im not shocked really

How does someone root for SA and Miami anyways...

That's like a Pats/Niners/Hawks fan
Wait, what? Guy is a Miami and SA fan? Did he bust up a knee jumping on the bandwagons? I imagine there's some sort of (weak) explanation posted somewhere. Doubt it's worth searching for though, amiright? Nothing worse than bandwagoners.

All I've done in the stock thread is mention endless losses

Please highlight just one post where I discuss gaining anything there.

NBA playoffs have morphed into the NFL playoffs. First week or two was awesome non-stop entertainment, and now we're all bored as #### because we know who's gonna be playing for the championship and we have to wait two weeks for it to start.

Lance needs to go somewhere with strong veteran leadership, right? Like he couldn't go to Philly and help MCW, Noel, and Wiggins become a playoff team, right?

I don't think it matters where he goes, someone is going to have Josh Smith-like buyers remorse. Putting him on a young team is just asking for trouble.

NFC/AFC title games are usually awesome.

Yeah. I feel like we're at the "Monday after the conference title games" stage right now. Even though the East and West Finals aren't close to over we basically know who's gonna be playing in the Finals, right? And now we're just sitting around waiting for two annoying weeks before they can finally get on with the big show. Crazy that there's no games at all until Saturday, makes it even worse.

I don't feel like we basically know who's going to be in the Finals. Sure, MIA is a strong possibility, but that series is the one that's tied with MIA's win being the only close game in either series.

I think it would be a mild surprise if the OKC-SAS series isn't tied up heading into G5. Hopefully, they'll be competitive games getting there either way.

The Spurs are playing 5-2 with a much better bench and coach. I would be shocked if OKC pushes it to 6 games in any form or fashion.

This.

I think Curly is a girl. Its annoying but its harmless.. she doesnt troll anyone. Just don't engage her and ask questions. And hopefully realize that most fans arent like that (speaking as a guy who grew up here in SA).

I don't know much about these prospects.

So, am I right that the options for CHA at 9 will be a couple of white dudes, an undersized SG, and if we're really, really lucky, another athletic tweener F from AZ with no offensive game?

Or is this LaVine kid the one we need to be looking at?

LaVine is really really raw. Athletically, he's a freak. But he needs some work for sure.

Vegas has Miami -400 to win the series at the moment. And I don't usually subscribe to this sort of thinking but I can't shake the feeling that the Heat are pulling a "Milton Berle" on the East so far.

The West is over.

So a guard version of Biyombo? That'll get fans excited in Charlotte.

McDermott would be my nightmare pick. He can shoot, that's it. Clifford demands much more in his system. They already have a defense guy that can't score. They don't need an offense guy who can't defend.

I don't see why LBJ would go back to Cleveland. Aside from lucking into the number 1 draft pick a handful of times recently, their front office hasn't show the ability to build good teams, unlike Miami, where Pat Riley has put good role players around LBJ and Wade (and Bosh). I doubt he wants to go back there and struggle when playing the best teams again because the Cavs front office surrounded him with too many stooges/busts/underachievers.
I imagine if the Cavs had Wade and Bosh with Lebron they'd have been very successful at finding good role players too.

If I was Charlotte I would go with Stauskas in the #9 slot. I think he would fill a need of an outside shooter, but he is also able to run the pick and roll and drive to the basket. Charlotte needs a shooter if they are going to run with McBob and MKG to spread the floor.

Don't forget MKG. (though, in fairness to my man, he did drop 22 points in the house of the defending Champs in the Playoffs).

I want to see the Spurs murder whoever they face in the Finals. Every game an embarrassing blowout. Would be most amusing if they do it against LeBron.

One thing is for sure: the Heat can't pull their "we'll dunce around for 40 minutes or so and then turn it on at the end and win" routine against the Spurs and expect to win 4 out of 7 against them this year.

What's that? Send him over to the NHL playoffs thread you say?

LaVine should at least develop into a quality catch and shoot guy. He's got range and a nice stroke. If he gets in the right environment and has his head on straight he has enough natural ability to create his own shot and get to the basket. But he's definitely a work in progress. I think he should have stayed in school 1 more year, but after the first six or seven are gone he's a decent "tremendous upside" gamble.

Yeah, given the little I know about these guys he definitely seems the most intriguing.

CHA desperately needs some 3 point shooting next year, but I'm not loving any of the McDermott, Stauskas, or Harris group. Though, for the former couple, I am biased against white guys, especially if Jordan likes them. I'm not seeing why Harris would be a big upgrade over Hendo, who I like.

I'd rather they deal with the 3 shooting in FA or at pick 24 (Hairston?), and swing for the fences with a top 10 pick.

I love Hairston - not sure why he's not a late lottery pick.
The NBA is certainly better than the NFL when it comes to separating legitimate character concerns from nonsense, but the nonsense still plays a role.

Hairston also doesn't look particularly quick/athletic, even though he did a decent job defending wings at UNC.

He seems to be athletic enough to hold his own on D if properly motivated, and that stroke is going to keep him in the league for a long time. I'd rather take him than some long shot project in the 10-14 range. I'm not fully aware of his off the court transgressions but we just watched a legitimately terrible person in Lance Stephenson have a big impact in the Conference Finals - that doesn't really concern me.

Agree 100%, just offering up a couple theories as to why he's in the mid-20s in mocks.

His off the court transgressions were minor, certainly nothing on the Lance Stephenson level. Basically he was driving around in a rental car that some former small-time Durham criminal rented for him, which is obviously an NCAA violation. This came out because the car was pulled over and there was talk of guns and weed being found near the car (like someone had tossed it) but there were no charges. But he missed his expected breakout year at UNC and had to play in the D-League because of it. Mostly just NCAA nonsense- as many UNC fans and NCAA critics pointed out, he should have stolen the car instead of letting this guy rent it for him, would have kept his eligibility.

I'm kind of a semi-regular here. Is Curly always this annoying?
yes but only in the playoffs! .....................
You don't post at all during the season, do you? Do you only watch the playoffs? No bashing here, simply asking.
I follow the regular season but I'm not so invested in it because it's so damn long. I tune in more after the All Stars. I think last year I was posting in regular season when the Heat were winning so many back to back games. Or if there's news on a player or scandal. But yeah, playoffs I tune in as we are left with the best teams and they tend to up their game, which makes it very exciting to watch.

Legitimately terrible? I wasn't aware of anything...?

i hear this stated a lot so i looked it up today.

i can find 2 transgressions: a sexual assault while in high school and an incident in which he allegedly pushed his gf down a flight of stairs in 2012. people do make it sound like he's Hannibal Lecter. Maybe I missed some stuff.

the sexual assualt was for groping another student in school. Obviously it is not cool.

The case with the girlfriend was ultimately dismissed.

I'm not saying that he is a good guy, but people talk about him like if he's let out of Indianapolis, he will murder everyone. There are lots of other guys in the NBA who have done equally bad things, but I feel like it's always brought up about him.

Certainly not looking to give Stephenson a pass at all.

I just feel like I hear his baggage mentioned more than other guys and I thought that there had to be more.

But it could just be some selective perception on my part.
