well, other than the fact that they are cleveland.
well, other than the fact that they are cleveland.
If by years, you mean minutes, I agree.in 20 years no one will care if he was loyal to miami, they'll care if he wins ringsI think Riley knew in that press conference this was going to happen. Riley threw the gauntlet down for others to step up their campaigning. Like Riley said, James is throwing in the towel in Miami and walking away. Money? No. Loyalty? No. Opportunistic? Yes. Cowardice? Yes.
That's exactly what I think will happen. 4/40MM for Wade. Truly believe he knows his time is coming to an end as an NBA star. His shoe deal will have a mosnter pay off for him in the end. Most people don't understand that his equity stake will potentially (and most likely) put his net worth to close to half a billion dollars. Why would he ditch Nike for an unknown China shoe company? That's why. Equity stake.I appreciate the passion.Yeah Exactly Gator. It's been an awesome 4 years. And we all (true Heat fans) hope we can keep having the best player in the NBA on our team. But if he moves on?God bless him. We will root extra hard against him when we play whatever team lands him. There are 3 ways this plays out, and all of them start with Lebron Opting out:
1) Lebron, Wade, and Bosh have already decided to stay together. They are all likely to take a cut (or extend out with player options) to be able to sing some more bodies to keep their run going.
2) The Heatles are breaking up. The 4 year experiment is over and 4 time champs of the east and 2 NBA titles is what riley has to show for it. Not bad. Bosh stays and wade does too and Riley builds a team to take on Lebron in the Playoffs.
3) Somewhere in between.
As a heat fan I want lebron to stay, but if he moves on, I wish him well and hope he finds success (but I will be rooting for the heat when they play him). Thanks for 4 great years of Ball.
But I think we know we are firmly in the drivers seat and have a great chance at keeping this thing going. I would actually be surprised if it goes any other way. Riley has been overlooking this and knew about so many possible outcomes the day they signed the deals. A great chess player anticipates 5-6 moves ahead. Riley is a master player in this game of the NBA front office. His moves were already thought out. Now it's a matter of the front office's execution of the proposed moves for the immediate future as well as 3-4 years from now. Lebron is firmly the centerpiece of all of it. And Pat I am sure has laid out all his cards again to Lebron and giving him assurances of giving him all the tools he can for chances at more titles.
People are under estimating how great Riley is and also so many on the outside looking in don't truly understand the dynamics of this franchise and how tight nit they really are from the ticket takers to the top. But go ahead...laugh it up, make fun of our little sayings down here (Heater for life) all you want. It's nice to have a great team for gee I don't know since 1995/96 for the most part and being able to know pretty much no matter what, we will compete just about every single year. Screw the haters. I love my Miami Heat. Regardless of what happens out of this. I am a Heat fan for life.
Yeah!!!
Proceed to flame me trolls...enjoy every minute of it. Hell enjoy it even after Lebron signs his extension here. Then keep it coming as he tries to lead this team to more titles.
Go Heat!!!
What's the biggest haircut you think Wade would possibly take? Seems like he's worth about $10 mill/year. That's probably generous. Would he actually take less than LeBron and Bosh? He does about half the work. Hell, he played fewer minutes than 38 YO Ray Allen last year.
It's really hard to envision LeBron thinking this is his best option this year if Wade won't make a Tim Duncan level pay cut.
I think Sacramento would and should do that. If that is a real possibility, Bulls are probably waiting for the Love/Melo dominos to fall.Bulls are trying hard to unload Snell/16/19. As well as Gibson (for cap reasons only) and Boozer. There are also rumors of Boozer/Snell/16/19 for Affalo/Jameer NelsonBulls offering Gibson, Snell, #16, and #19 for Love.
and Gibson/16/19 for #8 pick from Sac
I'd love for the Bulls to hold on to #16 and hopefully grab Saric.
So Wade just decides to play 2 years for free and Haslem who has no other income besides basketball (and after agent, tax, and other misc fees comes home with prob $2MM a year now) decides money isn't important and comes home with $800k. Interesting. That's why. Equity stake.
Wade takes the biggest haircut. Bosh takes a reasonable pay cut and Lebron get's whatever he wants. Also Haslem will opt out and take probably 2M a year and extend out his money owed. Anderson has already opted out.
I really believe the Heat push very hard and do everything they can to court Lowery.
3 games short in a best of 7. So close.People can believe whatever they want, but this team came up 3 games short of 3 straight.
I think Wade might be willing to drop to 12.5 a year. He has 2 /41mil left on the current contract. If he can't get at least 4/50, there is little reason to opt out. 10mil per isn't enough either. Timmy is the 4th highest earning player of all times. He can afford the discount. For reference, Wade is about 80mil behind him.I appreciate the passion.Yeah Exactly Gator. It's been an awesome 4 years. And we all (true Heat fans) hope we can keep having the best player in the NBA on our team. But if he moves on?God bless him. Your an idiot. 3 games short is 3 games short. They had to win 3 more after winning game 2....they came up 3 games short. They got their ### kicked...we all know that.3 games short in a best of 7. So close.People can believe whatever they want, but this team came up 3 games short of 3 straight.
So even with your wildest dreams, they still have no cap space to sign anyone and would get thumped by whomever comes out of the West. That's exactly what I think will happen. 4/40MM for Wade. A lot of people don't believe this..but other than The Spurs The Heat beat whatever team came out of the West. Truly believe it. People can believe whatever they want, but this team came up 3 games short of 3 straight. Add a few new pieces, get back some great vet's like Allen and Anderson and don't forget Bosh's role will change next year. More in the post and the clear #2 option. Wade is still an effective player. He will contribute no question. The team will re-tool. And the East is weak so they have a great shot at returning to a few Finals right away.
Listen...it's not easy. I don't expect a title every year. I know Lebron wants one every year...but it just does not happen. But to be in this position it is nice.
And I sit hear and listen to Windhorst again....the guy is the absolute worst. What a clueless putz.
Right now teams are scrambling...while The Heat already know exactly what's going on. Enjoy the fodder clueless media. Rliey, Lebron, Wade, Bosh they all know what's going down.
If that happens, then you are right. The Heat retool and move forward. That's exactly what I think will happen. 4/40MM for Wade. Truly believe he knows his time is coming to an end as an NBA star. Believe whatever you want. You miss the point. You think it's all about the money for Wade. That is where your falling short. Big time. Haslem will get all his cash on his current deal but it will be stretched. Wade get's all his cash...but yeah he is taking a pay cut. But he can play 2 more years.....retire and still get his other 20MM. Both these guys know they don't get this on the open market, but both also know they can't play for more rings right now without Lebron. Yes. We finally have a chance at getting a little shot of youth in here for years 2 or 3 in hopefully the second stage of the Lebron age.If that happens, then you are right. Whether Wade will or won't has been debated, and I guess none of us know what he'll do. I can see the reasons why he'd take the massive pay cut, but until it actually happens, it's hard not to think it's a long shot.
We'll see, I guess.
That 26th pick will help too.
No more...no more Heat talk.MOAR TODEM
what is wrong with the Kings?Stein saying Josh Smith to Sac in discussion
I saw the rumor was for Derick Williams and Jason Thompson. Which makes a bit more senseAs long as they aren't sending that #8 pick for Smith (or future 1sts), it's not the worst thing in the world.
Though, I bet that's exactly what they are doing, so obviously, that's stupid.
It never looks good trading for a guy that was a free-agent 11 months ago. If you wanted him so bad, why not just overpay him then, instead of giving an asset for him later.
And holy ####, SAC is on the hook for $66 million with that team already?![]()
Wade doesn't have to go on the open market to get his 40M. He has an early termination and a player option. If he opts out and extends it out to 4 years it's because Miami will be paying him more than the 40M he's set to make. Think 4/50 as a starting point for Wade.Believe whatever you want. You miss the point. You think it's all about the money for Wade. That is where your falling short. Big time. Haslem will get all his cash on his current deal but it will be stretched. Your not getting the bigger picture. Who says Wade plays 4 more years? (he may hang it up after two seasons...who knows) And because he is 33 he can't extend past 4 years. Another poison pill in the new CBA so you can't stretch out big money and create more cap space.
Again your sole argument is based entirely around Wade not opting out. Wait a few days.....that will blow up soon in your face. Wade is opting out.
And if he does not? Then yeah......Lebron is gone.
Philly can take on some bad contracts for that #8 pick.As long as they aren't sending that #8 pick for Smith (or future 1sts), it's not the worst thing in the world.
Though, I bet that's exactly what they are doing, so obviously, that's stupid.

So Wade can make 41M over 2 years or 40M over 4 years and Todem thinks he's going with the ladder. So Wade just decides to play 2 years for free and Haslem who has no other income besides basketball (and after agent, tax, and other misc fees comes home with prob $2MM a year now) decides money isn't important and comes home with $800k. I can't see him going to ATL but have heard the James and Melo to ATL talk too. As a ticket broker heavy in the ATL market, if that came to pass, I'd have to excuse myself for awhile to weep with joy. I just don't see it happening.Last time I mention ATL, swear, but Millsap is highly tradable. They could trade him for a solid asset at any time. Or, more likely, they use him to get rid of Lou Williams.
Without Millsap/Williams, ATL is at about $33 mill, with Horford, Teague, Korver, Carroll, Antic, and the German Rondo fella.
LeBron/Melo both get a discount, and for $63 mill, the Hawks roll out......
Teague, Shroeder, Mack
Some cheap FA chasing a title, or somebody cheap from trading Millsap, or a SG at pick 16
LeBron, Korver, Carroll
Melo
Horford, Antic
They've got great shooting, a lot of depth, a legit big, and a free ride to the ECF. That's 9 players, including 3 all-stars and 2 fantastic contributors and some solid bench players, for the exact same price MIA was due to pay the Big 3 this year.
LeBron and Melo both probably move the needle enough to for a couple people to come watch the Hawks play.
Would be a match made in heavenPhil Knight has gassed up the company jet and is picking LaBron up for a visit to Nike headquarters in Portland. DEVELOPING

Ugh. Adding Smith would be indefensible. Thompson is overpaid but the Kings aren't offloading enough salary to have that deal make even a little bit of sense.Maybe if they throw Landry in, but even then it doesn't make basketball sense.I saw the rumor was for Derick Williams and Jason Thompson. my understanding was that the player and Team need to agree to a buyout of the contract. But that buyout money counts against the cap.In the NBA you can retire and get paid the rest of your contract? Am I reading that right?

Lebron: "Kobe's making how much??"![]()

The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in new unrestricted free agent LeBron James.
While we could likely write this same blurb for 29 other teams now that James has officially opted out of his final two years, the Lakers are hoping to meet with James while "moving cautiously." The Lakers are also reportedly interested in Carmelo Anthony, but indications are that they're more interested in acquiring James' services. While James would have to take a pay cut in order to join the Lake Show, the Lakers could waive Steven Nash' contract via the stretch provision and James could also be swayed by the perks that would come with playing in Hollywood.

It doesn't sound like a bad idea to me. Wouldn't they be getting rid of $12 mill in mostly worthless players for a $14 mill player that, up until last year in a predictably terrible situation, was a flawed but useful player?Ugh.
Can't wait till 2 weeks from now. Then we can all talk about incoherent rambling. And believe me…I will eat my crow served cold if it comes to pass.It is just incoherent rambling.Read his follow-up on HaslemSo Wade can make 41M over 2 years or 40M over 4 years and Todem thinks he's going with the ladder. So Wade just decides to play 2 years for free and Haslem who has no other income besides basketball (and after agent, tax, and other misc fees comes home with prob $2MM a year now) decides money isn't important and comes home with $800k. Interesting.
Always good getting that local insight.![]()

I'm just trying to understand what they mean by the Lakers "moving cautiously"That is some fantastic insight. They're interested in LeBron and they'd prefer him over Melo? Get the #### out of here!Sure they are.![]()

One of the funniest things I've heard in a long time. So Bron/Bosh/Wade all ''take less'' several years ago, but you've got washed up 36 year old Kobe hogging the cap making $24 mil/yr. Yes, I'm sure it's of great interest to Bron.
