Barkley's point is dumb but he is correct that the rockets got better by adding Howard and Harden, not because of analytics.

They got Harden because of analytics- that motivated the trade. You can call it a no-brainer move if you like but that's a bit of revisionist history. Harden was a sixth man who wanted a max deal when he was moved- a great sixth man, but still just a sixth man. The Wizards said no to Harden for Beal because they're not forward-thinking like the Rockets and so they missed his potential. The Rockets saw it.

In any event, Barkley's point is also wrong because analytics is just a fancy word for information. More is always good. If you choose not to use it in certain ways, like say you don't want your players overthinking shot selection, so be it, but better to have it so you can make that decision than to not be in a position to choose.

Arron Afflalo is more likely to be traded prior to the Feb. 19 deadline than Wilson Chandler, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
The Nuggets are expected to be a very active team with the deadline just over a week away, and it's not surprising to hear Afflalo's name surface in trade rumors. ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reports that Denver has discussed possible deals with the Bulls, Clippers, Heat, Kings and Trail Blazers, but they may be demanding a first-round pick as compensation. Jameer Nelson and Randy Foye are also on the trade block, and anyone who owns a Nuggets player should prepare for a seismic shift in fantasy values in the coming week.

My money is on the team trading Afflalo for whatever they can get at the deadline, and maybe trading one of the bench players (Hickson?). They'll re-sign Arthur to a new 3 year contract in the offseason, sign their one or two first round draft picks in the offseason, end up with 15 or 20 wins by next All-Star break and decide that is the time to blow it up, but by that time everybody's value will be half of what it is now and a quarter of what it was a year ago when they should have blown it up. So, they'll end up with a mostly clean slate of contracts going into the offseason of 2016 but have no assets to show for all the legitimate players they could have traded in 2014.

I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

The Hornets? Yeah, kind of. They have a roster full of terrible shooters so bringing in a guy is just kind of a terrible shooter should help a bit... and by that I mean maybe it keeps them in the 7th seed and getting swept in the 1st round instead of dropping to the 8th seed and getting swept.

For what it's worth, which is probably not very much ... the Hornets are 12-6 in 2015 after going 3-14 in November and then 6-9 in December. I think they'd give the Raptors or Bulls a semi-decent fight, probably would win a game or two. The Cavs maybe not so much, especially if they continue to play so well that they end up in the 2 seed.

Charlotte has made Toronto their ##### over the last few years; 5 straight Ws stretching back 3 years.

It's not exactly news to me that the Raptors are better than the Wizards. At this point I'd say the Bucks are better than the Wizards too.

That said, it's hard to be upset about a two point loss on the road without Beal and Humphries.

Karl and the Kings have reached an agreement for something along the lines of 4 years and $15million. I think that is a great get for the Kings. Obviously it won't make a bit of difference for this season, but with a couple roster moves this offseason, the Kings very well could be a playoff team a year from now.
