*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (5 Viewers)

Since this will be an hour long will Lebron cross one team off at a time sort of like the NBA lottery?
He's announcing in the first 10-15 mins.
I hope not. Think it would be great if he had all the teams in huge envelops then one by one open them up and stretch it out for the full hour.
I hope I go home and find a pile of cash on my living room floor, but some things just ain't going to ####### happen.

The newest Chicago Bull, Carlos Boozer, told a source of mine earlier today that LeBron James is “50 percent Miami, 50 percent New York.” Dime

Still find it hard to believe he hasnt made up his mind.

The only player on the USA roster who shot more frequently for Team USA in Beijing than for his NBA team in 2008? Kobe Bryant. Kobe shot 19.1 times per36 in his NBA season. Surrounded by the best players in the world, Kobe still found the time to shoot 19.9 times per36.
it's kobe's world and we're all just living in it.
Though sarcastic, your comment actually has a lot of merit. As opposed to nerds like us who spend our days over analyzing box scores and advanced metrics, when players are actually on the court the alpha dog takes the most shots. There is a reason Kobe lead Team USA in shots by a large margin and you didn't hear whining from LeBron, Wade, etc. Anyone who has played hoops for an extended period of time and watched the '08 Olympics knows why.
isn't this is the same "alpha dog" that asserted his dominance by deliberately not taking shots, disappearing in a playoff game?
Context down? The fact that Kobe scored 50 the game before in a loss, and had 23 in the 1st half yet the Lakers were down 15 means nothing? It's mind boggling how some of you let your preconceived notions of Kobe destroy your logic. I'm sure if Kobe would have disregarded Phil's gameplan in the 2nd half and put up 50 pts in the Game 7 loss you'd have been suggesting that his dominance of the shots was the problem.
i think there is a huge difference between the lakers and team usa. kobe can do pretty much as he pleases with the lakers and get away with it. win or lose, it doesn't matter. the players know it. the coach and front office know it too. there is no accountability for kobe with the lakers beyond himself.he wouldn't have that luxury with team usa. if his chucking cost them the gold there would have been plenty of "whining" from his teammates. the fact that they won makes it a non-issue.

Alright fellas. Been fun. Hopefully check in later.....we'll see what comes out of Lehorses mouth tonight. Cavs with slight edge still imo...but it's all good if not.

And with each opening of an envelope, pulls out the huge card, stares at it for a good 10 seconds then turns it around and says "ohhhhh too bad!!! NEXT!"

I read somewhere that the Pekovic signing by the Wolves has Splitter asking for Pekovic+. Here it is:

There were undoubtedly some eyes rolling into the backs of heads in the Spurs’ front office with the Minnesota Timberwolves close to an agreement with European center Nikola Pekovic on a three-year, $13 million contract. The Spurs are negotiating to bring over 2008 first-round pick Tiago Splitter this summer, and Pekovic’s deal promises to elevate Splitter’s leverage.A 7-foot center from Brazil, Splitter is considered a far superior prospect to Pekovic. The Spurs’ ability to pay Splitter from its midlevel exception and still have some of that money to use on another free agent has been somewhat compromised.
if i'm splitter, i am thinking "some guy named travis outlaw just signed a contract worth $7mm a year and you're talking about $5mm? i don't know who this MLE guy is but his agent sucks..."
Every day/signing that goes by it's just going to get worse for SA. They need to pony up and sign this guy yesterday. #### Jefferson.

Season Tickets in Miami are all but sold out. You could get a lower bowl ticket last week for $2,750 for the season...team jacked those overnight to about $5,500.
The ball in Charlotte may not be as good, but I'll take my $199 season ticket.

His mind is made up.Even the stock market is reacting to LeBron's decision, MSG stock down over 5% today. Yesterday MSG stock saw 5 times the volume it sees on a normal day.

Like Lebron would tell Boozer anyway.

My prediction: LBJ comes out wearing a suit and tie, with a velcro closure in the back so that he can rip it off. He tells Jim "I'm One Miserable SOB" Gray "Yes, I've made my decision." Then he goes to undo his suit, feigns difficulty, says "I need a little help here..." and Wade and Bosh come out to help him take the suit off, revealing a #23 Heat jersey. Then they spend the next 45 minutes sitting around telling Wilbon how awesome each other is.

For real? Please elaborate. As a partial Laker season ticket holder who just got our rates raised again for next season I found out yesterday (hooray for championship!) I want to pour some salt in the financial wounds.

I think Boozer may be one of the last guys LeBron tells anything. That's why Boozer said 50/50.

Time to switch to #24, I guess.

Lebron will be "the guy" because he will be the one with the ball in his hands making the decision whether to take a shot or pass it off. With wade and bosh they have flexibility to make different decisions based on situations. I do not see how this is a bad thing. Lebron and wade will be able to both take over games at the same time, just differently than Kobe because rather than forcing things to happen they will have confidence in the "other guy" to make the better shot.

I found this morsel about a timetable for Splitter and NBA...
With all the options on the table, Splitter's faith will be decided on a string of key dates. First, there's the draft (to be held in Madison Square Garden tomorrow), in which there could be trades made that might include player rights. As of right now the Spurs have made a priority of signing Splitter, but you never know in a market as fickle as the NBA's.

After that event, in which franchises start to take form for the upcoming season, comes July 1st, the date in which teams can start to make offers to free agents. Then after that, July 15th marks the deadline for Tiago to present the documents stating his intent to leave Caja Laboral and certifying that the buy-out...
so they have about a week to get something done. argh.

Remember the Durant commercial where he keeps removing jerseys? Bron needs no MUST do this when his show starts. He could fit probably 10 oversized jerseys on with a jacket to cover them all up then one at a time take one off to reveal the next jersey, walking down a hall and once he gets down to the final three, opens a door leading out to a throng of people and remove the third one revealing the second one then start popping champagne!

this Olympic team argument is starting to make me miss the great Duhon debate of pp 55-60.
Anything I can do to break up this whole LBJ FA crap. For the record I was merely stating that Duhon is a very good as a back up PG and can spot starter. While he looked terrible on the Knicks he'll be better in a more structured offense in Orlando which are closer to the offenses he ran under Skiles in CHI and Coach K at Duke. He can run a team without turning over the ball and is a decent 3 point shooter (I never said great). Anything other than that is ASSumptions made by others.

I'd prefer a variety show starring the MVPuppets. Puppet Kobe MCs, the puppet LeBron signs with Miami, 'lil Penny signs with the Knicks, then the real LeBron signs with Cleveland - and the puppet kid they babysat sucks on his asthma inhaler in shock.

BTW, Kevin Durant seems like the most awesome guy in the NBA.
You should see him play in person. He's definitely in the category of "I'm watching that guy even when he doesn't have the ball." We went to the SAS game against OKC where he finished with 21 and broke his streak of 25point games....and he was still amazing.

If he had an oversized paper shredder next to him, that he fed the cards into, that would be money.
Would be awesome if every ten minutes he eliminated a team and gave a 5 minute speech as to why the team was not chosen i.e. "Chicago is a great team but their lack of shooters was a real red flag for me."

"The Knicks looked good until I found out simmonjm was a fan."

Lebron should do a prank call to the GM of each team not winning his services.
After he shows the oversized cards of the losing teams he should give a few minute speech why he didn't pick that particular team.
Lebron: "Hey Pat, it's Lebron."Pat Riley: "Hey Lebron, how are things?"Lebron: "Just wanted to let you know that I'm coming to Miami!!!!"Pat Riley:(wets his pants): "That's great!!"Lebron: "Hey Pat..."Pat Riley: "Yeah, Lebron.."Lebron: "PSYCHE!!!!" (followed by laughter and finger pointing)

then Lebron covers the mouthpiece of the phone, puts finger up to mouth as the shhhh whisper sign and says to the camera "This NEVER gets old"

This would make me a LeBron fan and I can't stand the guy.

Agreement in place for Warriors to acquire Lee....

I hate how I actually have to care where LBJ signs now. If LBJ denies NYK then the Dubs get Lee.

Without Vlad Rad's expiring deal included I'm feeling a bit better with this trade, but I would still rather the Warriors hold off on the deal.

In the end the Warriors get the best player in the deal RIGHT NOW.... but there's a chance Randolph could surpass him (I'll give it 40% that Randolph has a better career than Lee - dude is just too immature and doesn't take to coaching - example: last season he left a Dubs home game early so he could go clubbing out in the City).

This coming-out special is everything that's wrong with modern culture & I wouldnt watch a second of it even if it would save a child in Lebronistan.
