All This talk about the Kings moving to Anaheim is interesting.- Not sure the Lakers / Clippers would like this very much- 3 teams in the same market from the same division- Is this a place holder until Stern lets the Maloofs move the team to Vegas?- Do the Kings build any kind of a fan base in So Cal?I'm little surprised this is getting this close to happening. Has been talked about for years that the Kings or another team would move to Anaheim but I never really thought it would work out. Already crowded with Laker fans and they are switching teams because they are closer to Anaheim.
This won't impact the Lakers at all, but it will the Clippers. They always do very well whenever thay play games in Anaheim. Plus, the Clippers still have some (OK, very little, but still some) southern So Cal fanbase ties to their San Diego days. Does this go away when a new young team moves in?

I agree that the impact on the Clippers will be bigger but I think it also impacts the Lakers. Casual fans will less likely to go to the Lakers. Fans of out of town teams may see their team against the Kings vs Lakers. Free Agents have another Southern California option. And it is another split of TV audiences. Clippers SD fan base is fairly non-existent at this point. But they have a huge following in Orange County. I think this could be impacted pretty significantly. Lots of people drive up to Staples to see the Clips from OC. I would guess a lot of those people will jump ship just out of convenience. I think there is the potential for it to benefit all three. May make the SoCal area even more of an NBA hotbed. Adding another team could turn up the interest even more. Especially if the Clips and Kings can get competitive. Lakers and Kings had a solid rivalry when Shaq was with the Lakers. Being in OC would only ratchet that up a notch.

Sorry if this has been covered before, but is anyone going to offer Melo a max deal? All I have seen is a three year deal mentioned so far.

Looks like the saga might finally be coming to an end

http://www.denverpost.com/nuggets/ci_17443219

The Carmelo Anthony trade saga is nearly over.

Indications are that a trade is imminent with the New York Knicks, with only minor details to be worked out before an agreement is reached, a league source said.

Anthony was not at the Nuggets' practice as they resumed workouts following the All-Star break.

Also, the New York Times quoted a source close to Anthony's agent, Leon Rose, as saying: "We're about to dot the i's and cross the t's."

Check back here and at denverpost.com/nuggets for more updates

Its official, Melo has been traded to the Knicks.

Its sad to see it finally happen. Love him while he was here, and I'm glad he let the Nuggets organization know he wanted out before it was too late. Hopefully the Nuggets can turn this all into a positive, but I have a feeling they are gonna be duking it out in the bottom half the the western conference for a few years. Props to Urjiri and baby Kronke, they did a pretty damn good job with the cards they were dealt.

Great haul for Denver - they should send Proky a commission!

After months of nauseating speculation, innuendo, and rumor -- the trade sending Carmelo Anthony to the Knicks was finalized on Monday night.

What can we say? We laughed, we cried, we threw up a little. Or a lot. The Denver Post reports that the Nuggets get Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, the Knicks' 2014 first-round draft pick, the Warriors' 2012 second-round pick, the Warriors' 2013 second-round pick and $3 million in cash. Anthony will go to New York, along with Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter, and Renaldo Balkman. The league won't be able to approve the trade until tomorrow, but the trade has been confirmed by a few different insiders now and we don't expect any more shenanigans. This signals the beginning of a shortened run up to the trade deadline. As for Melo? His value should remain relatively the same.

Nets backup plans starting to emerge - earlier rumor today of picks to Denver for Gallo and Mozgov - now this new one -

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported Monday that Dallas, Denver, and New Jersey have discussed a three-way deal that would land Devin Harris with the Mavs, and Raymond Felton and Timofey Mozgov with the Nets.

Why Dallas would be looking to bring on Harris is the real question here, and this could be a clue to a larger strategy unfolding. If this rumor pans out, owners of Jason Kidd have right to be concerned that he would be moved to shooting guard, but with the question of why Dallas would do this unresolved still we wouldn't move the needle on either player just yet.

I don't understand why the Nets would be doing that.... but if lands the Nuggs two more firsts, I'm happy with that.

Avery and Harris are done - Harris is either going to Dallas or Portland (in another awful deal for Andre Miller and Prizilla) - I like Harris but they have decided its time to part. I believe the deal with Denver/Dallas has no picks involved unless Gallo is put in it as well....should be an interesting few days.

after thinking about this, Fields fits in the best from the Chandler/Gall/Fields trio.

Glad Denver didnt ask for Fields instead of Chandler as Knicks for sure would have thrown that in to make deal.

But i am pretty upset we had to take Balkman and his 1.6M contract in 2012

As a Knicks fan I am happy they got Melo but wonder if they could have played chicken with Denver a little longer and not thrown so much in. Oh well, time to let Melo ad Amare gel and work on the supporting cast. Honestly wouldn't be shocked if they didn't gel fast enough and missed the playoffs this year if they hit a slide with just a 5 game cushion but they should make it in.

What is the best Nugget message board? Is there a good one? RealGm's isn't popular.

I have no idea, I can't stand team specific message boards because it ends up with mostly 3 types of people... people coming in to #### on your team regardless of whats going on, the guy who watches 2 or 3 games a year and has an opinion (almost always a bad one) on everything, and the people that actually have something interesting to say. That third group is overshadowed by the pissing match the first two groups create. The only message board I hit up regularly is this one.

The day after I am not a very happy Net fan....gonna vent a bit and see what people here think

1. Melo - I understand they want and need a star and quite frankly I am happy the trade didnt go down - but Proky should have stuck to his initial positon and not got back into the talks. Unless they swing a deal for Gallo before the deadline, who cares about making the Knicks pay more - good for Denver and the Knicks are alittle weaker but in the process they have alienated Devin Harris, stunted Favors rookie year, made the organization look second rate, look like they struck out again on landing a top player cause they didnt want to come. Perception is everything and it is no good for the Nets right now.

2. Front office -I am not sure who is running the show, AJ or King but the Outlaw/Petro signings were awful and unecessary - who the heck were they competing with to give deals that long for that money? To have them scambling to dump these guys a few months after handing them big contracts is an unforgivable indictment IMO. Now I am hearing that the FO is going to trade Devin for pennies on the dollar and even have to include picks to get a PG that isnt as good as him or even a mere exping? Why? Cap money is worth nothing to this team right now - hey need to get as many picks as they can and pray that Lopez returns to form, Favors develops and they hit a home un in the draft - the more picks the better the chances - please dont clear room for 2012 - learn your lesson. Proky came in thinking he was the next Mark Cuban but all he has done is come up empty and look stupid - the media has been ruthless today - I'm sure most billionaires are not used to that kind of treatment. Also he needs to be here - I am sick of hm being in Russia, skiing in Canada and boning super models all over the world instead of focusing on the team - you want to be Cuban? Cuban breathes the Mavs - Proky is a part time owner at best....and stop dragging Jay-z out - its clear no one gives a darn about a 1% owner - Lopez and Mark Anthiny have more pull with the Fins....its a joke.

3. AJ - I am not impressed. Pushed for Outlaw. Alientated Devin. Lopez regressing. What the hell with troy Murphy? This team cant use a big with a long history of double doubles? worst case you play him to keep his value up and then deal him as an expiring - AJ didnt like his game so he sits and his value goes off the cliff. Awful. To think I am longing for the Lawrence Frank era!

4. Future - the team needs a deal in a big way bt they cant make a deal for the sake of making a deal....they cancelled practice today which tells me moves are coming - but the ones I am reading about (Miller for Devin; Devin and picks for Felton; Devin for Crawford) do no help in any way for the future - the only deal I somewhat like is Gallo as it would give them a talented young frontcourt with Galo, Favors and Lopez.

I am trying to withold judgment until the deadline to see if they can pull something off but color me unimpressed. I miss the days of Thorn where you would hear nothing and then bam he lands Kidd for Marbury....3 mid rd picks for VC....Eddie Griffin for Richard Jefferson.....this front office has a long way to go

LeBron looked pretty serious in the 4th quarter to me.
My point was that there is LeBron and Kobe and then everyone else. The two of them seem hell bent on proving they are the best player on the planet at the all star game.
Agreed.

I would be pretty pissed if I were a Nets fan, this regime has done nothing but make mistakes.

Clippers getting Gallo for a 1 would be a great deal for both teams, IMO. He could come to LA and be the 4th option (Blake, Gordon, Bledsoe) next year for a young team of high % shooters. For Denver it would help with rebuilding after last nights roster gutting.

And they're talking about using Minnesota's 1st (unprotected in 2012), which is a very nice pick for Denver.

Agreed. A player like Perry Jones in the top 3 wont be enough to forget Melo, but would certainly be a nice result out of the deal.

Imo cousins a lot better then favors, just my opinion though
Without a doubt Cousins is the better player now - everyone knew that - but hes a jerk with a weight problem so Nets banking on Favors being better in the long run which I think will happen....kid needs to develop a mean streak though - looks too passive so far though he has great rebounding, defensve skills - stuck in rookie foul trouble hell but that usually passes

The Nets SHOULD have a good front line in the future with Favors and Lopez, but Lopez is regressing it seems. The East is all about size, IMO, while the west is all about guard play. I think the Lakers are still the class of the West because they'll have size in the playoffs which will be hard for the other teams to deal with.

To be honest I'm not sure whats up with Lopez - he still is a great scoring big man but under Avery he has gotten allergic to rebounding - Avery has to take the hit for that as he was an ok rebounder his 1st few years....I think Brook is a solid scoring center with flaws - a nice piece - if you need 3 top players to compete for the title Brook can be #3...they have to hope Favors can develop into the #2 piece and the top piece needs to come through lotto IMO and not this pipe dream of CP3 or deron.

Why did the Raptors trade their (Miami Heat's) 1st round pick to the Bulls for James Johnson? Is he worth it?
James Johnson still has potential. His game would have benefited by another year in college. He showed flashes but was mistake-prone and never shot particularly well. Certainly he has NBA athleticism and is a nice guy and a good teammate. If he gets minutes and Toronto is patient, it's possible he can turn out to be a decent player. Bulls now have their pick, this Heat pick and a protected future Bobcats' pick to trade. They are also now about $3 Million under the cap. There are a number of players rumored to be available (Mayo? J.R. Smith? Courtney Lee? Anthony Parker?) but I'm not confident the Bulls will be able to pull something off at the right price.

Bulls would be scary good if they could get a decent SG while only surrending picks. The SG position is really the only position holding them back from being elite.

Tough time to be a Nets fan. When Proky came on the scene with Jay-Z they started selling the :blueprint: which to this point has been nothing more than talk. Nets fan coming off a horribly bad season welcomed the boastful owner and suddenly their despondent feelings were replaced with hope. I really thought that if the Nets did not get Melo they would be in for a long tailspin. In todays NBA you need a star to recruit other stars. Melo would probably not have signed an extension with the Knicks if Amare was not already on the team and the Knicks had a record lower than .500. If the Nets could have gotten Melo they had the potential to get a CP3 or Deron Williams. Now they will have to build the old fashion way through the draft which could take a long time especially if they miss on a top pick or Favors does mature as expected. For the record I blame Avery Johnson and the losing culture for the regression of Brook Lopez. It is tough for players to stay motivated grab rebounds and play defense when they are losing each night the tendency is to just shoot and put up empty offensive stats. The only advice I can give is try to look to the future move to Brooklyn; when Zeke was running the Knicks I could live with the losses because I knew that every loss and bad player acquisition pushed him one step closer to termination. Hang in there Kidd enduring the losing seasons makes the wins so much sweeter.

Eventually they will make their move but it will more than likely be next year when they have more in expiring contracts.

I just wanted to give a little love to my new look Denver Nuggets. They are killing the Grizz, 61-42 at halftime and Ty Lawson has 12 pts (5-8 shooting) 4 ast 3 reb 3 stl. They got 14 team assists through the first half, ball movement is coming a little easier tonight than most.
