Timberwolves were close but no cigar AGAIN tonight...although I was at that game against the Heat, and I think I'll give the MVP award to the referees. They missed 2-3 terrible calls that went in the Wolves favor too! However, I don't think I've watched a basketball game where star players got "the star treatment" worse than I saw tonight. Even a guy a few seats over in a Heat jersey asked his buddy: "when did the NBA become the WWF?" Referring to the fix being on. Anyway, despite it all the Wolves had a chance to win it at the buzzer. That, and Rubio looked fantastic tonight. He was the conduit that made the offense work...and at one point, the Heat put LeBron and two other defenders on him to try and shut him down. Rubio made a couple bad passes/turnovers. But I can see now, after watching him in-person for the first time, why folks are so excited about him. He's the real deal...and in his 3rd-4th NBA game and only 21 years of age, he's directing traffic on the court and moving teammates around to maximize their scoring potential as good as most long-term vets I've seen. Exciting time to be a Timberwolves fan again...finally. They just need to go from "close" and "competitive" to hanging games in the win column.
