Lopez has played up to his contract this year, IMO, but the worrisome part is he has shown he could play below it for sure. Just a matter of preference... offense vs. defense (Brooks vs. Hibbert). With a mid-level exception that's fine, but not for max (near max?) money. Drummound looks like a beast in the making. If Bogut ends up the next Yao Ming, I'll be disappointed the Dubs passed on Drummound but other wise I'm happy with Harrison Barnes. He may not be doing much, but you can just see that he's taking his lumps as a rookie and playing within the team. Mark Jackson needs to do a better job of trying to create some non-iso shots for Barnes. Aside from jack, he's one of the few players that can penetrate at will and the only one who can do that and finish above the rim. Despite, Klay's two game stretch of decent play I'd rather Harrison play with Curry/Jack over Klay. Klay makes too many brain farts and when his jumper isn't falling he's trying his best to imitate Mikeal Pietrus. Excited about the Dubs vs OKC game tonight. I wanted him to succeed more than most, but I am starting to think he might not be anything more than a 20 game a night backup. Let's hope so. The Dubs (sans Bogut) match up better vs OKC than MEM, IMO. However, last time OKC and Dubs played Westbrook was nailing all his mid-range jumpers and when that happens it's pretty much lights out for everyone else.

Vucevic is turning into a stuff before our eyes, Harkless is a far better prospect than Marshon and Afflolo is a solid starting nba wing. Considering how bad people thought the magic did (myself included) they ended up doing well for the Dwightmare

cool - I havent paid attention to Orl - so looks like the deal/non-deal worked out for both the Magic and Nets so far...sometimes the best deal is one you dont make. It would be interesting if the Lakers offered Howard for Lopez now if the Nets would do it or not.....

Just to add on to the Vucevic thing, if Bynum never plays a game for them they will be killing themselves for this trade. Vucevic has quietly put up 13 points and 13 rebounds a game over the last 26 games and he is only 22. He is shooting over 50% from the floor and he blocks 1 shot a game. Young capable centers are hard to find in the NBA.Not sure if you know, but I am a Nets fan now and as good as Brook is playing and as young as he still is, i would deal him for Howard in a nano second. I actually think Dwight fits in perfectly in this slow paced Nets team with lots of wing scorers. Nets would still deal for Howard dont think the rumors wont start up again real soon if Dwight really wants out of LA

Not a great one, but not the miserable joke they were in November and December either. The recent run has shown me enough to think it's not a fluke, especially considering the quality of opponent and the two comfortable wins, one of them a blowout.

to make this deal you have to take the risk Dwight gets his back healthy, its not like Lopez is immune to injury, out all last year and a bunch of games this year. LA wont trade Howard if they start winning and he is happy there; you just dont trade the best center in the NBA and 3 time DPOY unless you are forced too. But if the things go the way they are going and its right before Feb 21 and LA gets word that Dwight might bolt in the offseason and lose out on millions to start fresh elsewhere, the Nets probably have the best package for LA in Lopez and fillers. Though not sure how the cap works out but Atlanta could make a very appealing offer in Josh Smith for Howard and have Howard and Horford as the best front court in the NBA since Duncan and Robinson

ok makes sense. I am not a big college B ball fan, but what I saw of Drummond i always thought he would make a good NBA pro. I know this sounds like Monday Morning QB, but i was shocked that Hibbert was drafted as late as he was as well.

The rockets have made it clear that they plan on pushing the ball and shooting threes is their offense. As such, Patterson and Morris have come along but not enough. Delfino has been as awesome as Lin has been disappointing. They need to stay away from josh smith and try to find a four that can shoot from deep. I thought that seemed like a lot more than the last time I looked, but I don't pay enough attention to be sure. Then I looked and saw they were 5-2 over the last seven and had no idea why. Amazing what a difference a guy can make.

Harden trade save the Rockets franchise going forward. But this team has nothing outside of Harden. Asik is solid but nothing special on either end of the floor and a super rebounder. He is a rich mans Reggie Evans. Parsons is decent but not nearly a #2 player on a team. Rockets best bet is to tank real hard this year, hope Royce gets his head outta the gutter next year and draft a capable big next year or a real PG

The reason you missed it is probably because they've been on a west coast road trip. As with all things, blame the Pacific time zone.Wall's been helpful but it's been more than that. They upset the Thunder right before he came back in what was probably their best effort of the year. And Wall was terrible last night, but they won in Portland anyway. They actually space the floor on offense, which is new for this team. Beal has been a totally different guy; check out the month to month progression. They've been a decent defensive team all year, now the offense is coming around. By "coming around," of course, I mean it's not a joke. I'd be almost as surprised if they kept this up as I would be if they reverted to their November form.

Hard to call it a common denominator when you list 3 different things, one of which is subjective and only proven in hindsight. Also, neither O'Bryant or Sene are white or undersized.

I was being sarcastic but this Obryant and Sene peeps were drafted way back in 2006 at the #9 and 10 spots. Not exactly going to get studs in those picks usually.

Drummond was just another example of a capable big getting passed up in the draft for god knows why. I was shocked in the past that Brook Lopez lasted until 10, Bynum went at 10 and now Drummond. Hasnt the league learned, it better to gamble on the 7 footers who have game than the Thomas Robinsons of the world

What about all the complete misses like Darko, Rafael Arujo, Patrick O'Bryant, Shelden Williams, Mouhamed Sene, Spencer Hawes, Hasheem Thabeet, Enes Kanter? It seems like gambling on a center is about the most risky proposition in the NBA. When you draft a center, especially outside of the top 2 or 3, they are almost always incredibly unrefined and a huge risk.Gambling on center is the draft has proven to be a losing proposition for NBA teams.

Lopez was picked 10th. Hibbert was picked 17th. Drummond was picked 9th.

<br>Pretty sure that's his objective, and as a Laker fan, I don't blame him.  <br><br>On another topic - am I delusional or does Andre Drummond look like he has the potential to be as good, if not better than Dwight Howard?  The kid is a physical specimen (7'6" wingspan) and already has great upper body strength (esp. compared to Anthony Davis).  His athleticism and coordination are off the charts - he measured a 33' vertical at the combine and can play comfortably above the rim.  He's still terribly underdeveloped offensively, with very limited post moves and no jump shot, but every time I watch him, I'm extremely impressed by his handles.  His per 36 PER's are off the chart, btw - mainly because all he does is put back dunks. <br><br>I'm starting to think that, despite the monster rookie season Lillard is having, that Drummond will end up being the best player out of the 2012 draft.  Davis is also playing well and not a disappointment at all and, imo, has a more versatile game.  However, unlike Drummond, Davis desn't seem to have the bulk to bang inside and be the dominant defensive presence inside that I think Drummond will be - at least at this point anyway.  Lillard is great but I'm not sure how much better he gets from here.<br>

Like Howard, his post game is really lacking, but he can out rebound anyone, plays physical, is unstoppable around the rim and is defensively good enough to impact any shot from <10 feet. <br><br>Also, he does more than putback dunks, he slams lobs in at a level only Blake can match and yesterday he stole the ball, dribbled full full court and dunked off the run from a step inside the free throw line. I think most people agreed pre-draft that in the right situation, Drummond could become the best player in the draft (including Davis). He is the classic case of why talents that can't be taught (Drummond, Tyrus Thomas, etc.) get people more excited than proven everymen like Psycho T. The latter can be a solid 9/5 guy for a decade and the other has a chance to be 20/12. And if you miss on the upside guy, you'll have a chance at another in the next year or two.

No matter what your mascot, I don't understand why any New Orleans sports team would stray from some variation on purple, green and gold. Gotta at least have gold as your main color, right?
