Without Hardin the rockets would have fielded a team that basically traded dragix/ Lowry for Lin and dalembert/Scola for Asik. That team finished 2 games over .500 so while harden certainly improved the squad, they were positively average before he came along. I know you think the dropoff from dragic to Lin is steep but I doubt it's that steep.Eta: starters would have been...LinMartinParsonsPattersonAsik

Dead last was a little much but that lineup doesn't sniff the playoffs and isn't a .500 team.

 
Apparently Denver has a sports writer, who happens to be the worst columnist in the state, who gets paid to make up Abe like trade ideas.

His proposal to improve the Nuggets, just trade Gallo and Koufos for Kevin Love, easy as that. Then move Faried over to small forward where he'll start, never mind that he can dribble, shoot or defend perimeter players. Of course in the comments, the brilliant people of Colorado think that Gallo might be a little too much and we should probably swap Chandler instead.

They would have been fighting the likes of the Jazz and Blazers for the 8th seed. Not a sure thing they would be making the playoffs, but I would think they would have been in the race for that last spot until the end of the season.

With Noah roaming the paint anything is possible. Depends on how well Boozer shoots and how much Butler can slow LeBron down....he'll get his 25/8/8 but if Butler can limit him to that and Belinelli can handle himself against a hobbled Wade then who knows.....

This series is going to be very physical though.

So if there's no big trades/injuries to Miami, you're up for a wager? Or is it also dependent on them facing either Chicago or current #3 seed Indiana in Round 2? Are all bets off if they draw Brooklyn, Boston or New York in Round 2?Just trying to figure out exactly how far back you're walking your prediction.

Found it. Paging Dought Man.

Unfortunately, I consider the injury to Deng to be a "big injury," so he's off the hook here. And if the Heat advance the next round technically won't be "round 2." I guess it's up to him whether he's willing to keep the spirit of the offer or get out on a technicality at that point.

Also the assumption in January was that Rose would be back. That could also be considered an injury. He probably should honor a bet for the ECF, however.

:lmao: Heat went 42-4 after his post, but they won't be able "magically turn it on". "Lebron won't be able to duplicate what he did last year".....then he goes on in February to have one of the best months in NBA history (shooting 64% and 30/8/8).

You should see the rockets board about trades. It makes me look calm and measured. Like how some fans would take love on the team but not of it cost us Greg smith AND Patrick Beverly. One or the other, but not both!

 
Big props to how PJ handled this. He understands this roster and situation is flawed.

They're not going to get better the next 3 years hamstrung with terrible contracts and players on the decline. Many coaches won't be so candid about it. He recognizes you aren't going to change the way these guys that've gotten paid play. You don't suddenly instill heart into them.

When I placed my NBA MVP vote a few weeks ago, I knew I would be in the minority. I knew LeBron James was the prohibitive favorite to win his fourth award because he unquestionably is the best player in the game.
I voted for Carmelo Anthony based on his importance to the New York Knicks, who, if you haven’t been paying attention the past decade, have failed to be relevant.
When the voting was announced Sunday afternoon, I was flabbergasted to learn I was the lone voter among 121 to not give LeBron a first-place vote, truly believing Anthony, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, and perhaps even Kobe Bryant would snag a first-place vote or two

Translation: I am a dope and just wanted everyone to know who I was.

Ultimately, it is not a big deal at all - LBJ still won - but this guy's rationale was stupid. Making a team that has been bad lately very good does not make you the MVP of the league. It is that kind of stupid thinking that gets NFL coaches Coach of the Year awards for taking their teams from 3-13 to 10-6 while overlooking coaches whose teams are that good every year.

 
That's an awful explanation. No one on planet earth could make a case that Kobe Bryant was somehow the league's most valuable player. And dragging the Knicks to "relevance" with a record that would have been good for 6th in the west is hardly a crowning achievement.

He hasn't been crummy since his rookie year. I think he has struggled to find his role with OKC this year (first time coming off the bench, plays with two dominant isolation scorers) but he is a very good scorer who is unfairly maligned because of who he was traded for last offseason.
 
Hoping this is the choice for the Nets.

In an interview with Comcast Sports Net Northwest in Portland, Deron Williams old coach, Jerry Sloan says he would listen if the Nets call ed him about the head coaching job.

"I'm open, I would listen," Sloan told CSNNW.com via phone. "I haven't done the research on their roster, but I would definitely listen if they called."

Williams said Sunday that he would welcome playing for "Coach Sloan" again if the Nets chose him.

To review: Carmelo Anthony is his MVP because Patrick Ewing got old and Allen Houston, Eddy Curry and Stephon Marbury sucked. Also because of the random assignment of teams to divisions. Genius.

Agree on the coach of the year thing too. Although that's not nearly as bad as college coach of the year, where coaches often don't win it because they're too good at recruiting. "You're not the coach of the year- you're too good at your job!"

VERY best case, if he returns tomorrow is they slide into the 2nd or 3rd spot and get crushed by Miami in the conference finals. Somewhat possible worst case, he either over compensates or he really isn't 100% percent and they are without him for some of next year and he's never close to the same. The more likely middle ground is he comes back, plays 25 mpg for the rest of the year and plays at a decent but not good rate, they finish 5th or 6th and get bounced in the first.Really, If he isn't sure of himself, let him sit. #### it. Retool in the offseason and try again next year when Miami isn't rolling through the East.

Unreal performance by these Bulls. The most intensity and heart I've seen from a team in a long long time. It's every single game. They absolutely humiliated NJ in Game 7 outhustling them. And 2 days later, go into Miami and outwork them too. Down 3 starters (2 All Stars)

immy Butler played Lebron James head-2-head as well as anyone this season.

And Nate Robinson outplaying Dwayne Wade.

Nate Robinson has been a savior for the Bulls. Perfect situation where he can have the freedom to do his thing.

Big win for the Bulls, but how stupid is Bosh? Late in the game, he had Noah in the air, and instead of leaning into him to get two foul shots and give Noah his 6th, he ducks out of the way and takes an awful shot which misses badly.

It will be interesting to see if any team will show Nate the money this offseason. He has his faults, of course, but has so much talent.

Bosh was invisible all game. The guy is the definition of soft.Miami will still win the series. The refs will make sure of that. Bet Noah fouls out in the 3rd quarter next game. And I loathe Dwayne Wade. What a gigantic whiner. It's unbelievable how the ref a let him get away with it and don't hand him way more technicals for all his whining and yelling at them. So much for the NBA cutting down on that.
