Hey this Rudy Gay guy is pretty good.
He's become criminally underrated by those who believe numbers tell the entire story. His ability to create his own shot on a team with other good players is extremely valuable. Memphis and Toronto were awful fits.
:lmao:
I think there's something to it if he was able to accept his limitations and be a 6th man type. It's not like he's completely without talent. Unfortunately for both Rudy and whatever team is unlucky enough to have him, I don't see that ever happening, and instead he'll keep dragging down units that should be far more efficient.

He's shooting 56% with the kings. It's obvious that now that he's free from the shackles of a terrible grizzlies team and playing with some legit talent that his game is going to the next level.

He seemingly has a lot of talent. You can kind of see it in there amidst the forced jumpers, turnovers in the lane and the missed layups/dunks. But what good is that talent if he can't use it? I agree that if he accepted his limitations he could be a useful player... but that happens with about 1% of NBA players.

But, as Gunz says, who wouldn't want a guy who can create 20 of his own shots a game at a 40% clip? When a guy is giving you 1.09 PPS, you want him creating.

In SAC's 2 games with Gay, they've had their lowest and 5th lowest assists totals of the season.

In TOR's 4 games without Gay. they've had their two highest assist totals of the season, plus 2 more in the top 7.

Toronto averages 23 APG without Gay, 17 with.

Sacremento averages 21 APG without Gay, 14.5 with.

Offence killer.

Love the way the Suns play. They play fast and aggressive.

Not worried about the Warriors just yet....but getting close. Crazy how much of an impact Iggy makes.

Yeah he's massive on both ends. They're a fringe playoff team at best w/o him.
Agreed. The first 10 games with Iggy seem so far away. That was some of the most beautiful and dominant basketball, I had watch in a long time. THAT team is a legitimate contender.

Hawks beat Lakers - not that notable but Kobe was horrible. Easily the worst I've ever seen him play - but I admittedly don't watch a ton of NBA games.

He looks awful. Jim Buss looking like a complete ####### moron right now.
He came back way too early because he's Kobe and that's what he does. I expect that within a month or two, he'll be fine.

But if he isn't, thanks for the memories- one of the greatest players of all time, and gave us 5 rings. Maybe Buss shouldn't have paid him, but I'm very glad Kobe will end his career as a Laker.

Don't let the Cliff Clavins of the world get you down. The Lakers will be back in the NBA Finals long before the Raptors are ever even relevant.

The fact that the Kings are averaging about 7-8 more ppg with Gay doesn't matter? Just assists?

It is. Albert will bounce back this year. I'm counting on it!

I gotta hand it to Skrubs, though he pays more attention to the Lakers than I do.

Maybe so, but unfortunately the crappiness of the Raptors won't make the signing of Kobe for around $24 million per year for the next two years any less stupid.

Aside from Kareem's scoring record why did he come back so quickly? Serious question. Were ticket sales down? The team was winning. He could continue to wait and rest it as long as they didn't drop 4 in a row. Come back for 40 games and try to make the playoffs. It does seem he rushed back. Guy looks like a shell of himself.

Pau Gasol gave you two rings- and by the way spared you a lifetime of hearing that Kobe was useless without Shaq- and Lakers fans boo him constantly. Interesting disparity. Do you all just irrationally hate Europeans or nerds or something?

Just wanted to say I miss this goldmine sometimes. I knew there had to be all sorts of awesome going on with the recent thread title updates.

Clock's ticking on that scoring record.

And there's no guarantee he would've been good if he waited even longer. Nobody's ever the same after an Achilles.

This thread is the bestest.

Are y'all on the twitters? I'm usually on there instead of the message boards during the evenings and weekends. Send me a PM and hopefully I can interact with some of you clowns during the games instead of having to wait until I get some free time at work the next day.

Except Michael Crabtree, who got hurt after and came back sooner than Kobe, and has looked pretty good in his first 3 games back.

He came back BECAUSE they were winning. Can you imagine if the Lakers were over ,500 at the all star break without Kobe? His ego couldn't handle that. Kobe only wants the Lakers to win when he is playing. He wants to be the reason they are winning. He said as much himself in an interview last week when he said "It's not like they were playing gangbusters before I came back." I am paraphrasing that last statement.

Kobe would rather be the man on a sub-.500 team than watch them succeed fir the bench while he is getting healthy.

Have a buddy offering free seats 2 rows behind Lakers bench tonight in Memphis... considering going just to heckle Kobe. Prob not worth the effort as he'll likely screw it up enough on his own.

May just stay home to watch Pastner's Tigers get smoked by the Gators.

 The game is going to suck between two craptastic teams... heckling Kobe is pretty much the only reason to go through the hassle of heading downtown.

Which is why I'll likely decline the tickets.

I hate that guy when I go to a baseball game. There are quite a bit of them. Mostly wearing an old jersey full of nacho cheese stains.

Hell, I would go see the Grizz for free even if I weren't a Grizz or Laker fan. Being that guy is just a bonus.

Dion Waiters (knee) said that he will play on Tuesday.
In other news, the Bulls and 76ers have emerged as the "top two suitors" for Cavs guard Dion Waiters, according to Jared Zwerling of Bleacher Report. The Cavs and Waiters had a not-so-subtle rift earlier this season, and Waiters reportedly "wants out ... [and] prefers to go to Philly because he thinks he'd be the best player on the team" (he has since denied requesting a trade). Waiters' desire to be the No. 1 option on his team is undermined by his career 41.4 percent shooting, not to mention his poor assist-to-turnover ratio.

Kobe is making ~ $30M to play ~ 60 games, so he essentially makes $500k per game.

I'm sure he'll be extremely disappointed and sad about your heckling while he's making more in the 25 minutes he'll play tonight than you make in 5 years.

I wouldn't pass up those kind of seats no matter who was playing, unless you get these all the time.

Stein reporting that rondo to Sacramento is dead but Boston has emerged with Philly as an Asik destination. The rockets would likely be interested in picks, Hawes, and:or rondo in that equation.

Apparently no talks with the kings ever actually occurred (wouldn't have made sense anyway). Boston may be trying to put pressure on some other suitors to get a deal done soon.
