*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (27 Viewers)

Any clue as to why the owners haven't voted on Sterling yet?
It's going to be process. They aren't going to just vote and be done with it. They need to get their legal ducks in a row. They need to determine what the procedures are going to be once the vote occurs. I also believe there are directives in the NBA constitution that lays out the time table for calling for the vote, making a statement about the league intentions, Sterling getting a chance to rebut that statement and then the vote happening.

Additionally I'm sure all the owners want to get as much information on the situation before they commit to anything. It is an unprecedented situation that they want to make sure they control so that they are not jeopardizing themselves in the long run.

I believe the owners finance sub committee has already met twice to discuss a lot of the issues with how to handle the situation, so it's not like they are sitting on their hands.

Todem, I'd say the same is true for every team that doesn't have LeBron James. Many teams are very talented, but LeBron is a difference maker. He'll get the benefit of the whistle as well and that's expected. MJ got the same.

A team will have to clearly beat the Heat to win

the series. I'm not delusional. Let's just hope we both get there and it's a great series.

Paul George shot 10 FTs yesterday, only two fewer than the entire Wizards' starting 5 and more than 50% of the total of the entire Wizards team.

Superstar getting the benefit of the whistle? Or just a guy who played a great game, had the ball in his hands a lot, made aggressive moves to the basket and beat people to spots?

Thanks for posting this and I suspected this might be the case.

Pacers could very well push the Heat to 7 again. Having to play that game in Indiana could be a problem for Miami. I'd say the Pacers have a bit more than a puncher's chance. I'd give them a 30% chance to take the series. Not great, but not awful.

That said, what could be the best series of the playoffs is this Clippers/OKC matchup. I have no idea how either will fair against the Spurs (I'd guess Spurs in 6 vs either team...but I'm not sure how they'll match up). At first I was a bit skeptical at how much of a difference Doc Rivers could make for the Clippers, but he is looking to be every bit as good as advertised. Personally, they are my favorite team to watch...and that is mostly because of the development of DeAndre Jordan. He has become a defensive and rebounding force this year......and I've always liked CP3's game. Right now, if I had to choose, I'd take Clippers for no reason other than Doc Rivers >>>>> Scott Brooks.

No doubt. Lebron is the difference. But as far as getting calls.....he does not get as many as Jordan got IMO. I have seen ridiculous hard fouls not called as flagrant. Also when he broke his nose......no foul was even called. It was insane.

Make no mistake....he does get calls as does Wade, Kobe, Durant and other big name stars. But Lebron also is a very physical player and because of his size and strength.....they also miss some very obvious hacking fouls on him that are not called. Kinda like Shaq never got some calls he should have as well (not that it would have mattered with his pristine FT shooting).

Are Pacers tickets still going for cheap tomorrow like they were in games 1 and 2 or did the fans jump back on that bandwagon?

Some of both.
Fair enough, I guess.

From my admittedly biased standpoint I think the guy who's gotten the most generous treatment from the refs in the playoffs thus far is Hibbert. He commits some sort of an infraction- traveling, three seconds, five seconds or a foul- at least once a minute, and draws a lot of fouls simply because he's clumsy and refs always look for calls when bodies hit the floor.

Not that it ultimately mattered, but the Pacers got the benefit of a lot of terrible calls/no calls on Friday. I didn't notice anything particularly out of the ordinary last night.

I thought Wednesday was the worst of it as far as Hibbert goes. He traveled on at least half his field goals in his big "comeback" game.

Agree, last night looked fair to me. Pacers shot a ton more free throws, as they have all series, but that's because they aren't settling for jumpers like the Wizards are doing.

Are you confusing them with a team that hasn't sold out every playoff game so far?
Nope, not at all.

Hibbert needs a therapist for sure. Well, that and

to add 20 lbs of muscle.
Posting and driving?
Actually yes. Section 223 Row 15 Seats 9-12 tonight. Want 2 for next game?
Don't pay face value

But they have. And were top fifteen in attendance on the year, a bit of a coup for a team that only ranks 23rd among NBA market size.

Relevant piece. Doesn't mean there aren't going to be any tickets at all for any game, ever. Indy isn't NYC. But there are few for each game, and they've been selling quickly. I think you're misinformed on the subject.

Prices aren't super high. Demand may well ratchet that up for next year, but for this year, they're happy to be selling out playoff games and drawing more fans than substantially larger markets. Not sure what you're gunning for here.

It's not like Atlanta or the Wiz are a great draw from a fan's standpoint.

Next round prices will skyrocket! (Provided there is a next round)

I was asking a simple question is all. Are tickets still going for cheap?

Tickets prices for the Pacers this playoffs were ridiculously low. Proven by the price of the tickets each game.

I don't care about their market size, etc. I know Indiana is a small market, but it is the playoffs for the #1 seed in a conference, not an underdog in most scenarios.

#Cavs owner Dan Gilbert: "It pains all of us here that we needed to make the difficult decision of releasing Mike Brown."

BYE MIKE
That's a lot of money Gilbert's eating after that ridiculous contract, but at least he's smart enough to admit what a mistake it was and try to fix it.

It's not like Atlanta or the Wiz are a great draw from a fan's standpoint.

You'd like to think that a #1 seed wouldn't need to rely on the opponent to be the draw. I suspect the Spurs don't have $7 tickets available just because the opponent is Portland.

San Antonio is just a bit larger than Indianapolis. Market size is going to play a big role in ticket prices. Cost of living is another big one. Tons of money in places like Miami, NYC, LA, San Antonio, etc. Not so much in Indy.

Come on. We're not talking about $100 vs. $300 for tickets here. I'm pretty sure there's more than 20,000 people in the Indianapolis area who can afford to spend more than $7 on a playoff ticket.

We all know what's happening here- the fans started to give up on the team based on its recent play, driving down demand and prices on the secondary market. It's not unusual- you should have seen what happened to prices for Game 4 in DC between the end of Game 1 and the end of Game 3. But it is indicative of something pizzatyme seems to deny- Indy fans, like everyone else, don't see this team as nearly as strong a title contender as they did a couple months ago.

:lmao: :lmao:

Nothing wrong with your post..I have just never heard my beloved city compared to the likes of NYC, Miami, LA at anything. There's gotta be more money in Indy. We have a bunch of military bases and some taco joints.

I worry about our ability to keep the team in SA when the Big 3 eventually call it day.

You realize the cheapest Spurs tickets are still going for five times what the cheapest Pacers tickets were going for, right?

Here is a man.. he acts so holy. He made love to every girl in every girl in America in every city and he had AIDS. When he had those AIDS, I went to my synagogue and I prayed for him. <--- something Donald Sterling actually said tonight about Magic. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

What has Magic Johnson done? He's got AIDS. Did he do any business? Did he help anybody in south L.A.? I think he should be ashamed of himself. What does he do for the black people? I'm telling you he does nothing. It's all talk.

I spent millions on giving away and helping minorities. Does he do that? That's one problem I have. Jews, when they get successful, they will help their people.

And some of the African-Americans, maybe I'll get in trouble again. They don't want to help anybody. What has Magic Johnson really done for Children's Hospital which kids are lying in the hallways. They are sick. They need a bed. What has he done for any hospital? What has he done for any group?
So that went well!

This guy is just making himself look more assier than he is. He best keep his mouth shut. No wait, don't. Maybe he'll have an "accident." :ninja: What did he do for his apt tenants who were paying rent to him??????? Um. Nothing. They lived under horrid conditions. Yeah this is the kind of guy we want to stand by. He says he made 1 mistake in 35 years. No, minimum 2 big ones. Who knows what else he's done that we don't know about.

The discussion started because Game 2 tickets were available for under $7.

You do realize the longer the series goes, the higher the prices will be. And game #2 the Pacers were coming off a game 1 loss and when the tickets were $7 it was 45 minutes before tipoff. Stubhub utilizes dynamic pricing. Ticket prices drop like this all the time.

man, alan anderson is really ####### annoying.
