well, i think if Hinkie wants him that bad he'll get him. the fact they had him here in Philly for so long to work out, and they had Wiggins and Dr. J hang out at the lottery picks would make you think it is more then a smokescreen. I like that the Sixers literally called Cle that night to discuss possible trades. They have made no secret they want wiggins. The moves they made were with that as the goal. Going and getting him is smart.
Not sure if the bright lights of LA are going to outweigh him not being "the man" anymore.I think the only serious contender for Lowry is the Lakers. Raptors are still going to have to shell out 12mil per to keep him.One ESPN guy tweeting that the Mavs won't be making an offer on Lowry, thankfully...Juxtatarot said:You don't let Carter and Marion stop you from a top tier FA! Renounce them if need be. If Dirk only wants $12, Mavs are fine cap-wise. I think Lowry would be a good target.Instinctive said:Hoping this trade is real, as a MAVS fan.
Will be sad to see Calderon go, but Tyson is absolutely worth it. It's not like Calderon ever ran the offense, though his spot up shooting was amazing. I think I'll miss the announcer's "Jooooo-se, jose jose jose" chant every time he hit a three HAHA.
I hate Felton. Price of doing business I guess. Don't mind Larkin going either.
I didn't really want any part of Melo before, and not sure I do now, but I assume this makes it impossible.
27 committed
Dirk's renegotiation (+12 is my guess)
17 out with players in trade
19 comes back between Tyson/Felton
Puts us at 41 committed.
Cap hold on Marion + Vince are around 15 mil?
That's 56 with a 63 million cap (7 million left for FA)
Now, if Vince and Marion resigned @ discounts (say Vince takes 3 mil/year, which is close to what he made last year anyway, and Marion drops to 5/year, which seems not too likely) that creates another 7...still not enough for a big time FA. Oh well.
They aren't getting #10 and Young.#3, #10 and Thad Young is a heist for Wiggins. Just my opinion.
Which you would assume would mean Embiid is there at 4 for Orlando. One time, dealer.

At best he transforms Toronto into a perennial first round loser or gets to play along side Kobe and the Lakers and who knows how far they go. Lakers always seem to find a way to rip some dumb team off so I doubt that they will be down for long. Bottom line if he stays in Toronto he will be irrelevant. Not sure if the bright lights of LA are going to outweigh him not being "the man" anymore.
Chandler had begun to complain about Melo shooting too much. Apparently Melo was happy about the trade. In really like this deal for Dallas. If the Knicks added dirk and Ellis it's a no brained that Melo would stay. It's New York and it's in the east. But the mavs have taken the only other decent player from the Knicks and brought him to a team with a good shooting guard and a hall of fame power forward. Even as a rockets fan I don't think that's a bad situation for the next two years.

Sure, that was the Sixers original trade and why Cleveland was more interested in Orlando's offer. But if the Sixers offer 3 and 10, I'd consider that greater than 4/12/Afflalo. People said Thad didn't move the needle on trades earlier, so pretty hard to think Afflalo moves the needle that much. Difference between 3/4 is essentially who you want after the big 2 and I've liked what I've seen at 10 a lot more than what is left at 12.Wouldn't you take Orlando's offer of 4, 12, and Afflalo over 3 and Young? They aren't getting #10 and Young.#3, #10 and Thad Young is a heist for Wiggins. They cant really think they were going to be able to land Melo. Even though he had a visit scheduled there the chances are slim to none.I just can't imagine Cuban would jeopardize bringing in Melo by acquiring a guy he doesn't like on the eve if free agency.
I honestly think it was more for DirkI just can't imagine Cuban would jeopardize bringing in Melo by acquiring a guy he doesn't like on the eve if free agency.
Would seem odd but didn't Cuban forgo a chance to woo Deron Williams to tape Shark Tank episodes?I just can't imagine Cuban would jeopardize bringing in Melo by acquiring a guy he doesn't like on the eve if free agency.
it all depends on how you value the draft. Since it seems like Cle is not the most prepared team, who knows. It would seem they looked at 3 guys, Parker, Embid and Wiggins. so maybe they think the draft has 3 guys who are big time talent, and the drop off from 3 to 4 is big. I certainly don't know, but that would mean the Sixers 3 is much more valuable than the 4 or 5. i would think 10 and 12 are close enough they can be worked with.Wouldn't you take Orlando's offer of 4, 12, and Afflalo over 3 and Young? They aren't getting #10 and Young.#3, #10 and Thad Young is a heist for Wiggins. He was unhappy in Memphis, Houston and Toronto when he wasn't the man. Last year everyone raved how great of a teammate he was once he was given the reigns. At best he transforms Toronto into a perennial first round loser or gets to play along side Kobe and the Lakers and who knows how far they go. Lakers always seem to find a way to rip some dumb team off so I doubt that they will be down for long. I like Thad's game but I don't think Young is that attractive a trade piece. He has one year plus a player option remaining on a contract that seems pretty fair for what he contributes. He's in no man's land between being a underpriced asset and a huge expiring deal. He isn't much more than a throw in at this point. They aren't getting #10 and Young.#3, #10 and Thad Young is a heist for Wiggins. Just my opinion.

Young has more value than just a throw in. And even if Young has no value, then Afflalo has little value as well. But they are saying it is the 3 and either Young or 10. No way that is a better offer than Orlando 4, 12, and Afflalo.Edit to say:3 >>> 4Thad << Afflalo (Afflalo is better and cheaper)Young has more value than just a throw in. I agree the Sixers' package is better provided Cleveland has a clear cut favorite at #3 but it's not a huge difference. Both deals are probably just rumor mill stuff so it doesn't matter anyway.

Orlando takes Wiggins @ 1.
Bucks take Parker.
Sixers might take Embiid. They already have MCW and Noel so who knows but Exum is not a lock.
The 12 and Afflalo is better than Thad Young.
I sure as hell hope Orlando stays put and Embiid falls into their lap but I'm just a poor kid with a 7 inch vert.
The question is whether the 10 is greater than 12 and Afflalo. That would be a very interesting move from the 76ers. Tank the season to get a good position in an allegedly strong draft and then trade down. Maybe Hinkle made it all the way through Simmons' column todaySixers will move the #3 to a team behind them.
Right. Maybe it's a swap.Didn't the Pelicans give up their first this year? They can't trade next year's unless they have one from another team.
