*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (6 Viewers)

I still think the Cavs have interest in Embiid and that's why they are allegedly serious about these trades. I also think they will know by draft time how Lebron is leaning and that will factor into their final decision. Embiid and a shooter, Lebron goes for a 1yr deal in Miami with strong thoughts about returning summer '15 to finish the job. Stay at #1 or another big trade we haven't heard about, Lebron is strongly considering leaving Miami this year.

edit: cue up Moops post above.

Sixers will move the #3 to a team behind them.
That would be a very interesting move from the 76ers. Tank the season to get a good position in an allegedly strong draft and then trade down. Maybe Hinkle made it all the way through Simmons' column today
You have 3 top prospects... which unfortunately became 2 top prospects and they have pick #3. That's how it goes sometimes.

So, in the past 2 days SAC has explored a Josh Smith trade, and a trade sending either the Cousins or the #8 pick for Rondo.

I'm trying really hard not to make fun of the crowdsourced GM thing, but they aren't making it easy.

Rondo + new contract going into his 30s isn't worth #1 pick.

For that matter, I don't think it's worth a top 5 pick (rebuilding team)

Sac isn't dealing Cousins to get Rondo. Only way they'd deal Cousins IMO this offseason if it somehow netted them Love.

"Hey Griff, Modogg and Abe from the internet says you probably hasn't scouted no players so just trade #1 to Philly for 4 of their 2nd rounders cuz they noes what they be doin'. K thx."
 i don't mean to pick on Cle, but they just keep making it so easy with just looking like a horrible franchise. Word now is that Exum doesn't want to get on the plane to work out for the Cavs. And i can't say i blame the kid, i am guessing he has some things going on too and can't be too impressed with a team throwing all of these things together.

I get all the smokescreens and all that, it just seems like these kind of things only happen to the same franchises over and over and over

A couple SAC, CLE, BOS rumors floating around.

Rondo to SAC

Cousins, Green, #6 to CLE

#1 to BOS

and

Rondo to SAC

McLemore, #1 to BOS

#6, #8, Sullinger to CLE
Complete BS. Where did you see this? Sac trades Cousins for 1 year of Rondo. Not a chance

eta: The second one is possible

Frankly, I don't think he is worth a lottery pick. There are 20 legit NBA point guards and probably another 3 or 4 coming out of this draft. If they need a point guard they would be better drafting Smart or Payton or signing Bledsoe or Lowry.

Jonathan Feigen @Jonathan_Feigen 1 minute ago

No. Protected through 10. Similar to Lowry deal. RT @rocketsand49ers: @Jonathan Feigen is this pick the rockets getting back unprotected?

Jake Fischer: According to a source, multiple teams are trying to buy copies of Joel Embiid's medical records from the 5 teams that currently have them.

Jake Fischer: According to multiple sources, NBA teams purchasing draft prospects' physicals from rival teams is common practice. Black market, stuff.

Jake Fischer: Reportedly, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Boston and the Lakers currently have access to Embiid's medical records.

I'm sure Hinkie is making a few bucks off them.

Joe Kotoch: Based on conversations with sources around the league it sounds like a better than 50% chance Cavs deal 1st pick. Twitter @Probballdraft

That doesn't even make sense to me. All NFL teams get medical records for all players after the combine. They can also all do their own work ups.

Why in the world would Embiid's camp not want to get that to all the teams unless it's really bad?

If it is that bad, what incentive do these teams have to sell them then? Their picks just became less valuable.

Lets say you are Milwaukee and you are absolutely happy to take Parker or Wiggins and have no desire to trade your pick, it might be worth it to pull in some extra money. Might even create some good will in the future to whatever team you just saved.

Tellem has a history of doing similar activities in pushing his players to certain teams.

I'm not sure how different it is in Exum refusing to work out for the Cavs. Does that mean he is trying to hide something or just doesn't want to go there?

There could be different reasons for different players. In Exum's case it would seem that he doesn't want to play in Cleveland. In Embiid's case it seems like he has some serious issues. I can't imagine Tellem is trying to steer Embiid to NBA purgatory in Cleveland or Milwaukee.

Word is that if he doesn't go 1, Tellem wants him to go to LAL or Boston.

No idea. Just that reading too much into this can leave you burned. Tellem was the guy who restricted access to Kobe. How'd that work out for those teams?

Kobe wasn't going to be the first pick, he was a mid lottery pick at best in '96. There is a big difference from trying to force your way to LA at the 13th pick when teams were looking at you for the 8th or 9th pick and trying to drop from 2 to 7 to get to LA. That's like a $10million difference in salaries. When he did it to Kobe it was probably more like 1 or 2 million. That is a big deal for somebody that does have some real documented injuries.
