Random question...can a team remove protection from a pick after the spot is determined? Let's say Cleveland ends up at #9 in 2018, and doesn't particularly like what the options are, can they give Boston the pick instead of rolling the dice on the unprotected pick the following year?

So Bosh to Houston, Bron Bron/Ray Allen to Cleveland, Miami stuck with Wade, Mcbob, Haslem, Granger and Shabazz as a starting 5 is looking more and more possible.

Probably not, unless Boston agreed to it.

If Bosh goes to Houston, Melo goes to Miami.
No Bosh and no Lebron, that MIA team is worse than the LAL team.

I think he goes to Lakers or Knicks. No way he goes down to Miami
Anything is possible with that guy. Winning clearly isn't a priority for him. He might like the beaches in Miami.

LeBron and Melo in Miami.

Not hating. Just stating a fact that when you're choosing between NY and LA, winning isn't a high priority. I know you're an LA homer, but that team isn't no where near cracking the top 4 in the West with Melo.

If he chooses LA or a Lebron-less Miami over HOU and CHI, where do you think winning ranks on his list of priorities?

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but when you're two top choices are NY and LA, two teams that have a zero chance of reaching an NBA finals, you're not too concerned about winning.

Don't tell some of the spurs players that. Some guys will actually shave some millions off to play for a winner. Didn't Lebron do that in Miami?

Why didn't they take the minimum to have a better chance at winning the title. Its not that money is the only factor, but its certainly the biggest one.

There's different ways to be "concerned about winning." Maybe he wants to win in his adopted hometown and allow the team to build around him and he thinks that would be a more rewarding way to win than simply moving to the team that maximizes his chances at a ring. Isn't that what all the Jordan and Kobe fans thought was so great about their guys when LeBron left Cleveland for Miami? That they stuck with their organizations and allowed them to build from within instead of jumping ship to the best situation possible?

I know he already left Denver. And I have no idea if he actually thinks that way. Just saying it's more complicated than just choosing to win vs. choosing a cool city.

Uh, they did win the title. Its certainly a balancing act. But when you take a lot of money and play for a really mediocre team and then do it again, you clearly prioritize money a lot more than winning. At this stage in his career, if he was really that concerned about winning with all the money he's already made, he'd take less money and go and play for a contender.

Yeah, I know. Just saying as simple as prioritizing winning vs lifestyle or whatever. There's a lot of variables that could be at play. Winning isn't just some uniform concept that means the same thing regardless of circumstances. For example, I'm sure LeBron is very happy about getting two rings, but I suspect he'd have felt even more satisfaction if it had happened in Cleveland. Point is, you can't just say he prioritizes other things over winning if he stays in NY. Now if he leaves for LA, I got nothing.

I strongly believe that LaLa (Melo's wife) has a bigger say in this situation than Melo does. I think Melo will end up staying in NY only because the dominoes will start to fall after Lebron decides to either stay in Miami (therefore Bosh will stay in Miami, no room for Melo in Miami) or go to Cleveland (no room for Melo).

How much less and for how much better of a chance? Its not like he can just take 30 million less and go sign with Chicago for a guaranteed championship.

So either Lebron to Cleveland is already in place or Cavs management are completely idiots, right? Both completely possible.
I think he's genuinely undecided at the moment. If that's the case the deal seems OK to me even if it's for only a 25% chance of LeBron or something. Not like that cap space goes to waste if LeBron doesn't occupy it.

So either Lebron to Cleveland is already in place or Cavs management are completely idiots, right? Both completely possible.
If they trade for Love without assurance from Lebron...they are off their rocker. They can't just hand over Wiggins on a hunch.

I don't think the Jack Zeller trade is bad if Lebron stays in Miami for a year.

So according to NutterButterLogic, if LeBron signs with Miami or Cleveland instead of signing with San Antonio for the minimum, winning isn't a priority.

dan gilbert is not a good guy and i hope that he sells the team or loses it in a high stakes poker game to someone awesome like patton oswald he was great in walter mitty take that to the bank brohans
