It looks and sounds eerily similar to the Heat if they go in the Love direction. If they stick with Wiggins and the youth...long term they will be in much better shape. trading Wiggins and some other young assets is a risk. Either way Lebron can't lose.

I am sure they are doing fine. But I was just talking about how Arison has said they have done during the Lebron years. I believe with all the tax it sucked away most of the profit.

Bennett is coming off a historically bad season. He's in the deal to make the cap work - not because he's good. Wiggins is the cornerstone of the deal, but his cap figure is $0 because he hasn't signed his rookie deal yet. That makes it more complicated...I think this gets done soon though, and the Wolves will include Glenn Robinson or Turiaf to give the Cavs a bench player back.

It's probably at a point where the argument is about Thompson or Waiters vs the extra piece the Wolves send back...all while making the cap fit.

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Cleveland Cavaliers have discussed a blockbuster trade centered around Kevin Love and the league's last two No. 1 draft picks, league sources told ESPN.

In an attempt to add Love, a three-time All-Star, the Cavaliers are willing to part with Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett, the top picks in the past two drafts.

Oh my...that's quite a haul.

One source said the Cavs are also willing to give up a first-round draft pick for next season.

Dang, the rich getting richer in the land of Ricky Rubio.

At one point, a trade seemed close to happening, but Minnesota wants more than the Cavaliers are currently offering, sources said.

Bennett is coming off a historically bad season. He's in the deal to make the cap work - not because he's good. Wiggins is the cornerstone of the deal, but his cap figure is $0 because he hasn't signed his rookie deal yet. That makes it more complicated...I think this gets done soon though, and the Wolves will include Glenn Robinson or Turiaf to give the Cavs a bench player back.It's probably at a point where the argument is about Thompson or Waiters vs the extra piece the Wolves send back...all while making the cap fit.

On the Cleveland side, I think you have to go all out to make the finals within the two years of LeBron's deal. Love moves the needle immediately...Wiggins is a year or two away from being that kind of impact player. Love also addresses the two major flaws on the Cleveland roster: offensive spacing and front court passing. He will allow LeBron to rest more on offense and on the boards.

I really think this deal can benefit both teams.

Wait...forgive me, I'm not an NBA junkie. More of a fringe fan. But I've seen highlights of Wiggins looking all-world in summer league. So some of those guys (or at least he) play in summer league without a contract? How does that work?

The majority of players in summer don't have contracts. They're showcasing themselves to get cap invites.

Not sure why Wiggins hasnt signed. Rookie scale that he can get 80-120% of. Most rookies get 120%.

Wiggins hasn't signed because once Cleveland signs him they can't trade him for 30 days.
