What happens first? a; Lakers are 20 point underdogs in a game b; Lakers win a game c; Kobe assaults a teammate / coach.
Where can we see/hear more from this guy? He was awesome on that Grantland video and his tweets are great.
Don't you get enough of that in this thread?

Jesus Christ you guys are sensitive.

Voulgaris smashes crummy NBA teams/players/coaches in pretty equal measure. He's not a "fan" of any team. He also has an incredible basketball mind.

Well, you can't find any of that mind in that quote. That's Jim Rome caller smack circa whenever JT the Brick won the Smack-Off.

Yes. It's that bad.

ETA: I hear guys on KPCC here is So-Cal with better takes than that, and it's a public radio station. Sheesh.

"The Association" is back this year, after skipping last season.

I'm sure it will be sanitized, and they will cut out anything good. The league doesn't want a repeat of Deron Williams casually sliding that knife deep into Avery Johnson's back.

I didn't watch it and the nets such, but the boston box score is salty. 8 guys in double figures and decent looking shooting all the way around.

Thunder are hardly an NBA team with all the guys they have out. It's going to be a rough first couple of weeks.

If you like LeBron on the beach, Love at Christ-the-Redeemer, and Blatt telling everyone it's time to turn it up, you'll love the episode that was on last night

Gutty comeback for those hornets.

:goodposting: What a freakin' awesome night. I won't ever forget it...hopefully my little dude doesn't either
Wow, what an experience that must've been.

It was about a perfect night, which is so odd to say because the team looked horrible for something like 2.5 quarters. But teams will have off nights, and it's going to take a while for all the new parts to gel. Grinding one out like that on an off night was so great to see though.

I think Marvin's going to give us a good chunk of what we lost with McBob. He had so many shots standing there wide open when they tried to double-team Al. He's a great fit knocking down 15+ footers. Him being less hesitant to pull the trigger than McBob will be an upgrade.

Lance had one of his patented help you win when the shot won't fall nights. A few very ill-advised shots, but that's just part of the deal.

If MKG is taking a solid step forward, as it looks like he might be, this starting lineup is downright scary. I might be crazy, but possibly even in the conversation for best non-Cleveland starting 5.

That bench is ugly though. It'll get better, and I think it'll be great for Zeller, but it looked horrible last night. Hopefully, we'll see PJ out there launching 30-footers soon enough.

It looks like the off season work MKG put in is going to pay off this year. We're now seeing why they drafted him #2. There was definitely a lull in the buzz for a while and it wasn't looking good, but once they pulled within 15, the buzz returned. I'm with slapdash...still can't believe what I saw. Memory for a lifetime, that's for sure.

Kobe is such a punk. Gonna love watching this terrible team all year while this chucker reaffirms how selfish he is.
just amazing how much you hate one of the all time greatest NBA stars who led his team to 5 2 championships.
fixed
No, sorry, that's not how it works. If a team with Kobe on the roster succeeds, Kobe led the team to that success. If however a team with Kobe on the roster fails, it is the fault of everyone in the organization but Kobe, who showed unparalleled grit and determination in his brave but ultimately doomed attempt to overcome the tremendous obstacles that fate had placed before him. Doesn't everyone know that? You act like you've never watched ESPN or something.

MKG looked pretty awesome last night both ways. For as good as Marvin was shooting, he needs to do better on defense.

Cody looks like he is picking up where he left off in April, which is a good place to be. Best player in the second unit by far.

Silly me, I watch ESPN as little as possible. Maybe a little Gameday or if it is on in the barbershop.

biggest comeback in Charlotte Hornet or Bobcat history.

purple and teal is back mother####ers
Was fun to watch.
GB League Pass. I need to find a way to steal this when they take it away.
firstrowusa.eu if you want to deal with the occasional pop-up and watch on your laptop or something.
This site became much more tolerable when I started watching in Chrome with Ad Block Plus. 1 pop-up max, it seems.

I think Cody spent more time floppin' around on the floor than anything...or seemed that way. Needs an agility coach :D

I liked the effort from the Wolves last game. It was a game they were expected to lose, so anything close is fine by me. IMO, there's barely a drop off from the starters to the bench (for better or worse) at the moment. Rubio had a lot of turnovers, but they mostly came when he was driving to the basket and got his arms raked with no call, so I'm not particularly worried long-term. That was a physical game that the refs weren't going to reign in, so overall I'm OK with the outcome. Here's hoping the Wolves can put Detroit away tonight at home like they should. 81-1!

Re: Charlotte having the best starting five outside of Cleveland...I haven't given it much thought but imagine the Clippers and Spurs are in the discussion with a few others (bulls, rockets, lakers) having a case.

Well, not the lakers. Couldn't help myself.

James Ennis....going airborne last night.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2249759-heats-james-ennis-goes-through-wizards-rasul-butler-on-fastbreak-dunk

Kid is a superb athlete and will be an exciting player for us!!!

I was very pleased with the win. Bosh showing he can be the man and will be a 20 and 8-10 guys nightly no doubt, Wade rising up in the 4th quarter and looking lighter and relaxed, Coles making a strong first start at PG, Chalmers has a nice role being a combo guard off the bench for us (even though he will be undersized a lot at 2 guard), Deng will be a solid two way forward and perimeter defender, McRoberts will be a rock for us on the boards and hit some threes, once he returns....and then they're is James Ennis, the kid had a great summer, a great pre-season and will be the surprise player for the Heat this season. If we can get 20 quality minutes outta Danny Granger that will be a huge bonus.

47-50 wins 3rd or 4th seed and division title......that is the regular season goal....then anything goes in the post season. This team has a lot of post season experience, something that will be important come playoff time. And of course this is the year those (I don't think they're are too many out there) that doubted Spo as a great coach will be silenced. Spolstra IMO is easily a top 5 coach in this league.

The team looked super relaxed last night. All that pressure of the past 4 years....gone. The target on their backs...gone.

Go Heat!!!

The Rockets achilles heal will probably be team defense. Lot's of talent, and they can score with anyone...but that team defense is a must in May and June.

Clippers are stout. Bulls with a truly healthy Rose...stout...but where is the other true elite scorer? I just don't see that and if you shut down Rose (which can be done by a great defender and great team defensive scheme ala Miami a few years ago when Rose was the MVP) I don't think the Bulls have another true elite scorer to pick up the slack if a team focuses on Rose.

The East is so wide open....big time.

The Spurs are the champs...and they will be right there as always. Age and health is their only concern.

A little shocked that MIL faithful would be pessimistic on the tails of the opener. Yeah, they blew a big lead. But they had a big lead.

O.J. looked good, Sanders didn't die or kill anybody, and every other important piece of the team is just getting started. They'll only get better as the season goes. I think they fall a little short of 40, but way over 25. They were at 15 last year because the whole team was fat, or dead, or high-school aged, AND they were tanking. None of that's going on any more.

I tend to agree. And Brandon Knight looked exceptional...would be really nice if he made the leap.

Yeah, that's some post-victory hyperbole for sure, but a mini-breakout from MKG would put them up there. Every step he gets away from "completely useless" on offense is a huge one. We've got the C in the game that most commands a double-team. A defense actually needing to consider the possibility that MKG would take a shot past 6 feet and make it would be pretty huge. Some offensive improvement combined with the potential for a great perimeter defense tandem with Lance would make MKG a a solid asset as a starting SF.

I think Memphis is sort of the blue print for Charlotte, albeit not an exact one.

OTOH, Jason Kidd is a superdouche

Not sure what you mean about the Rockets. They were 11th in defensive efficiency last year and I'd say they've slightly upgraded this year, no?

Yeah that was a weird comment. Elite defenders at PG, SF, and C. Ariza is a huge upgrade on Parsons on that end.

Yeah, they were one missed Kemba shot (of many) away from pulling off a fairly massive upset. It was a playoff team from last year that improved, and you won't find a HC advantage quite like what CHA had last night very often. The baby Jesus himself wanted to see the Hornets win last night, and the Bucks very nearly prevented it.

Bucks will be a fun team that's occasionally pretty good.

I would love to see a gif of Kobe's grimace face with a loop of "Haters gonna hate, hate, hate" from Taylor Swift's new song. That would be hilarious, but I lack the technical skills to make it.
