*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (5 Viewers)

Thought of another way:

On the one hand, you have the Spurs stars, who vocally defer to their coach and team for basketball-related reasons when it comes to their minutes, who are aging, who have a track record of giving back to the team and fans for the betterment of the franchise, and who have an absolutely astounding track record of success to show for it.

On the other, you have Rose, who vocally demands his own right for his own non-basketball reasons to manage his own minutes, who should still be young enough to bounce back, who has absolutely NO track record of sacrificing for the team or the fans, and whose reign in Chicago has been a non-stop parade of post-season disappointment and failed expectations to show for it all.

It can't be any wonder one of these groups is beloved by the fans and media while the other isn't.
Rose had no obligation to even rehab aggressively from the serious injuries he's already. Every strenuous rehab activity he's undertaken since his first major injury was by definition for the team and the fans, since his money is guaranteed and his current deal + endorsement money is more than he and his family will ever need.
Depends on how you are using "strenuous" and "aggressively" but I'm sure he has a contractual obligation to rehab.

Which part has you stumped?

Nobody posted what Rose said -- wasn't common knowledge yet.
I see. I heard his comments on Mike and Mike on the way in this morning and was very disappointed. I have always enjoyed watching him play. It's clear he's got some poor advisors and some entitlement issues (IMO). Makes me enjoy the class the Spurs exhibit that much more. I really feel bad for you Bulls fans out there. And to have this joker on the same squad as Noah? What a shame.
The best part of this whole Rose diatribe is the bolded. You do realize the Spurs have been doing THE EXACT SAME THING that Rose is doing with Timmy, Parker and Manu for YEARS, right?
Pop rests his guys for a playoff run, Rose is resting for after basketball run. Huge difference.
HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111
 Spurs guys are getting saved so they offer the team the most value at the most important times. Rose is saving himself so he doesn't accidentally waste any of his value on the thing he's getting paid for. You really don't see the difference?
I think I'll take the word of the guy whose knees they are over a bunch Internet Hot Sport Takes....

Cappy....we have a cleanup in aisle 1....Derrick Rose is down!
:lmao: I need to do some more of those.

brohans i bet all those giuys down in mexico city will get montazumbas revenge and it will be a long smelly ride home take that to the bank diarea brochachachas

Enjoy the next 2 seasons...it looks like the NBPA is going to be very aggressive in the next round of collective bargaining.
To be fair, any sort of competent negotiating from the PA will come off as super aggressive when compared to the "negotiating" that went on under Billy Hunter.

Well she's not talking about negotiating, but blowing the whole thing up and starting from scratch. When you say that the owners are expendable, that there should be no max contract, that the entire salary structure is un-American you are setting up for a big fight.

I think the players should threaten to strike before before the 2017 playoffs start. They always wait until the offseason to do so and lose bargaining power because none of them can manage their money. This way they attack the owners pockets, their pride and put time on their side. Doing anything they've done previously won't be beneficial. Less money is on the line when you have a work stoppage to start the season.

WTF is up w/ the Nuggets?
Brian Shaw can't figure out his rotations, he's been playing 12 guys just about every night (13 last night), they can't defend anybody and they have been clanking open jumpers. They really need to blow this team up, keep Lawson, Faried, and the rookies, dump everybody else for anything they can get.

Dumping Ujiri and Karl is really proving to be a terrible move.

I whole-heartedly disagree.

Dislike.

I wonder if he knew he was leaving when he inked the Javale contract. Would make sense.

Is Afflalo done or just being brought down with the ship? Seems like he'd be a nice add for a lot of teams.

Please trade Mozgov to the Cavs.TIA.

What would they offer? They could pull off an Afflalo + Mozgov for Waiters trade using their trade exception to absorb Mozgov but that would put them over the tax.

I wasn't a Karl fan. I could never understand why he didn't play Faried and why he would play small ball lineups with so many 7 footers on the team. What's wrong with Ujiri? He seems to be doing fine in Canada.

So why did the Nuggets not use Fournier? Seems like he is really becoming a very good player now that he has solid minutes.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Ujiri. As a Raptors fan, I think it was a fantastic move by the Nuggets to dump him.

Cavs also have the Grizzlies number 1 to trade. It's 1-5 and 15-30 protected for 2015.

1-5 for 2016.

1-10 for 2017.

So why did the Nuggets not use Fournier? Seems like he is really becoming a very good player now that he has solid minutes.
He played 1500+ minutes last season and wasn't as productive as he's been to start this season. He took a huge jump in 3p% this season, but 51% seems unsustainable. I guess you can question why the team would trade a decent 22 year old on a cheap rookie contract.

1500 minutes seems a lot more impressive until you realize it breaks out to 20 a game. He's playing 34 here.

Obviously the 3-pt number isn't going to stay that high but I am impressed with his ball handling and how he attacks the rim. From what I read about his time in Denver, he was pretty much just shooting corner 3s.

In a lot of ways they were stuck paying McGee. I hated the deal at the time and I wish they would have just let him walk (or just to have never made that trade to begin with), but I see why they did it. McGee showed a lot of promise in the Lakers playoff series the season they acquired him, and they didn't have any way to replace his production. I think that was as much Ujiri as it was Kroenke. I do think that Karl was pushing for the team to let him walk though.

Afflalo should be fine, his jumper isn't falling, but he's been a 40% three point shooter for his career, so I'm not worried. I do think he'll be traded by February.

Karl notoriously didn't play rookies, so he didn't get much burn two seasons ago. Last season he played a fair amount, although he he should have played more given how the season ended up. I think Shaw misused him a lot, I think he's more of a ball dominant SG like Ginobili or Harden and they should have been running a lot of pick and roll with him, and they really didn't. When Karl did play him, especially in the GS playoff series, that's how they used him.

Here is what I said after the trade:

Orlando has agreed to send Arron Afflalo to Denver for Evan Fournier and 56th pick in 2014 Draft, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.
https://twitter.com/WojYahooNBA/status/482176769303515136

Afflalo is a good player, surprised ORL couldn't do better.
I'm shocked thats all they could get for Afflalo. I thought the Bulls were putting out a better offer. At least per the rumors.
Fournier has been underutilized with the Nuggets. We may look back on this three or four years from now and think that Orlando raped the Nuggets.

The Nuggets seem very intent on chasing the 8 seed this season. Weeeeeee!
Looks like I may have been right.
