*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (3 Viewers)

Magic with a crunch time lineup of Fournier-Oladipo-Vucevic-Frye-Harris.

Lots of ball movement. Pretty good!
Yeah, impressive passing display from Orlando. Terrible defense by the Pistons definitely contributed but it was still surprising to see a team that young share the ball so well.

Pretty exciting. Oladipo has made a lot of difference with his ball handling.

Magic might be a contender for that 8 seed.

#### anthony davis is good. i didn't think he was going to improve that much this year because he was already so damn good. but he has taken another massive leap. how much better can this guy get?

Jimmy Butler is way fun to watch play.
Yep. Was just getting ready to post about him. If he's not the Most Improved Player in the league, they should do away with the award. He's the best player on the Bulls by far this year. He looks like a genius right now turning down $11 mil/yr. If the guy continues at this level, he'll get max dollars (and will be an MVP candidate this year).

Wasn't aware they voted on these awards in mid-November.

Agreed. He looks absolutely fantastic so far. He's been really fun to watch. Improved leaps and bounds offensively

Magic Johnson agrees.

I noticed LeBron, Kyrie and Love are all near the top in minutes played per game. I wonder why. Rookie coach trying to win? Trying to gel as a team?

I believe part of it is Blatt looking for combinations that work best with those three. And if you are trying to win, it's hard to rest those guys when you aren't blowing out anywone.

The Hawks game was one where they could have been in less minutes.

And there has been 1 other game so far where Blatt had pulled them in the 4th quarter and had to reinsert them when a big led got chopped down to 7 late in the 4th quarter.

Memphis just destroyed Houston.

Given how tight the games have been for them this year I never saw that blow out coming even with Houston on the road in a back to back game.

Comment after the game.

''The good thing about this, it is only one loss. Now we will take it out on the Lakers, but we won't forget this one.'' - Rockets guard Jason Terry.

:lmao:

Shabazz and James Ennis having a nice impact last night and Bosh hitting the dagger three late to put it away. Chalmers relishing his role off the bench. Nice bounce back win after 3 straight losses. No Wade, no Deng, no McRoberts (he has to get on track at some point) and a road win.

Treat to watch him for the first time live last night, just no doubt he had no equal on the floor.

Haven't seen a ton of games but I've now seen Aldridge play against Davis, Dwight, Duncan, Griffin in the last few years and he's looked scared every time. I don't think I've ever seen a multiple time all-star look so small when playing his fellow all-stars. Pretty sure he only scored 2 points (on a fadeaway) one on one with Davis last night and the rest were when Davis was helping elsewhere and couldn't get back in time, switches, or just good bounces cleaning up the boards.

Just laid some $ on the Grizzlies to win the west at 13 to 1... and to win their division at 3.8 to 1.

The Rockets have looked really bad their last three games. Probably nothing to it but that was a rough stretch.

It's a long season. They will be fine. No doubt.

this bet is Tim-approved.

About fifty pages ago I picked the Grizz to win the west. So, there is that.

Rockets had a tough time coming back from Mexici city. They will be fine.

over/under - 1 game

kobe plays 30+ minutes and doesn't outright lead the lakers in shot attempts

this is for the full season. jordan hill has tied him once so far

An article on why the Nuggets suck so bad.

Kevin Arnovitz basically says that the management is a mess, from owner to head coach, and nobody really knows what they are doing. Arnovitz seems to be especially critical of Connelly (the GM), who I think has been the least of their problems between him, Kroenke, and Shaw.

"I'm not sure Tim can do the job," a league power broker, who has known Connelly for years, said. "He's the nicest guy you'll meet, but he's out of his depths, and you saw it with the Kenneth Faried mess."

The mess in question refers to the odd sequence of events during the finalization of Faried's four-year, $50 million extension completed in early October, a deal that was initially leaked by Denver, according to several sources, at five years and $60 million, only the terms of that deal didn't conform to the current collective bargaining agreement, which stipulates a team's "designated player" for a five-year extension must receive the maximum money. Connelly and Ben Tenzer, the Nuggets' young director of team operations and de facto salary-cap guy, jumped the gun while the rest of the NBA, including the league office, scratched their heads at the report.
More than one source close to the league's infrastructure has confirmed Faried wasn't the only proposed transaction by Denver that violated CBA 101 basics. One rival team executive said the Nuggets called to propose a trade that was obviously unkosher under league rules, something that rarely, if ever, happens because no general manager wants to betray ignorance of such a rudimentary part of the gig. Most have the good sense to call the league to fact-check potential acquisitions.
He definitely makes it sound like Connelly is wholly incompetent.

ETA: This once again points to my argument that there are some of us in this thread that could GM an NBA team. These guys just aren't smart people.
Personally I think the root of the problem is that the system Shaw wants to run is completely at odds with his roster, and he knows it. They need to either gut the roster and acquire players who can work with what Shaw wants, i.e., a reliable low-post scoring threat and better perimeter shooters, or admit the Shaw hire was a mistake and try to move on quickly with a coach that either more adaptable or comfortable coaching an open-court game.
Great posting. Thought the same thing no more than a couple games into Shaw's tenure. Puzzling hire. I'm surprised he made it through a season.

The Lakers are scoring 8 points more / 100 possessions on offense when Kobe sits. Biggest difference is Ed Davis
Quit holding back my Tar Heels from their NBA stardom, Kobe.
I still don't understand why Ed Davis only went for the minimum. Just as confusing as all those years NaTE Robinson was moving from team to team.
He's pretty limited offensively and he's not ideally sized to play the 5. The market for non-stretch 4s isn't great right now.

brohan i am watching the game right now on fsn and knight was beside himself after he blew that one i feel crummy for him i hope that they can pull it out take that to the bank

bucks pull it out and are a game over five hondo what do you know what do you know basketball might be fun in brewtown again take that to the bank bromigos
