That's crazy. The defender isn't entitled to any position he wants.TobiasFunke said:It's ridiculous. There's such a simple fix, too- verticality. If you pump-fake and the defender leaves his feet, you are only permitted to jump straight up to shoot and absorb the contact. Otherwise it's a no-call.Instinctive said:Mavs game was amazing. Monta Ellis was amazing.
Best thing ever that the Warriors sent him to the dumpster fire of a basketball team that was Milwaukee so that he could opt out, then take less money to play for a real team with a real coach in Dallas.
As an aside: I can't seem to figure out when it is ok to get a defender in the air and then jump into him and when it isn't. Seems totally arbitrary when there are calls and when there are not.
How would Knicks not be included with Cavs and Mavs? Knickerbockers is that common?Or is it Cav's and Mav's?I'll give you Cavs and Mavs. I would submit the remainder are not used by their fans EVERY time they referred to their team like you guys do with dubs.Yup exactly like every other team...including the ones belowYou could call them by their actual name like every other team does.Warriors have been called Dubs for a long time now, guess it's still new to people outside the bay area and only relevant cause Golden State is doing so well.
Curious for the folks who find it annoying, what would be a better way to reference the team? Or would you prefer to call them the "Warriors" every time you refer to them?

Players, print media, and local sports host ALL use Dubs so it's accepted amongst all those who take interest in the Warriors. To hear both sides, the Warriors official Twitter feed, Curry, Barbosa, and Speights all used "Dubs" in tweets last night. The homos responsible for "Dubs" seem to have channeled their inner Dbag to find the lamest possible approximation of the name that isn't, by the way, a simple shortening of the actual name. It reeks of Drakkar and trying too hard.
Didn't feel like I needed to address the absurd inclusion of the Knicks on that list. How would Knicks not be included with Cavs and Mavs? 1) Having lived in memphis and boston I can attest that the celtics are referred to as celts on occasion, but more often than not it's celtics. Here in Memphis, Grizzlies are called Grizz very sparingly.... Some of you kids in here act like you're paid a nickel every time you use the word Dubs.
2) In both cases (and most of the above) it's simply using a shortened version of one syllable of the name. To be honest, I have purposely been over using "Dubs" because it annoys a bunch of you.

they've been like this since rubio got hurtThe Wolves are hideous.
He's been a 3 point specialist most of his career who couldn't shoot especially well and didn't offer anything else. I would chalk up his hot start to small sample sizes. So does anybody know who Rasul Butler is? Watched him live the other night against the Heat and he looked great. He's obviously a journeyman and old (35) but why has he bounced around he league so much?
Did he have potential and squandered it until now or is he just another bum?
This game is like someone snuck a TV camera into the Y. It's kind of fun, but maybe the worst played game I've ever seenThe Wolves are hideous.

Sixers-Wolves have to restart because the teams were going in the wrong directions off the tip. Can't make it up
And no Pek and no Kevin Martin. Playing a bunch of kids and Willie McGee Brewerthey've been like this since rubio got hurtThe Wolves are hideous.
can we just give both teams losses? And no Pek and no Kevin Martin. Playing a bunch of kids and Willie McGee Brewerthey've been like this since rubio got hurtThe Wolves are hideous.
It's the Bay Bridge, you big dummy.Dubs would at least make sense for the Wizards, since it's actually in their logo. It doesn't distinguish the Warriors meaningfully, since they're not the only W team, nor even the team most closely associated with the letter W. "Golden State" is tragic enough already as a location. The logo's a bridge. Franchise is one giant identity crisis.
Just be the Warriors and be happy with it.
I turned down a free ticket to this btw. Instead I watched grown ups 2 and drank bourboncan we just give both teams losses? And no Pek and no Kevin Martin. Playing a bunch of kids and Willie McGee Brewerthey've been like this since rubio got hurtThe Wolves are hideous.

)Always thought that nickname makes no sense. What is a lake show supposed to be?I don't say or write that word. In print it's GS or GSW, if I say it out loud it's "Warriors."
God sent us Steph Curry, the least you can do is pronounce a couple extra syllables. It's like if every time you referred to the Lakers you called them THE LAKE SHOW. Every. Single. Time.
They have Bud as their coach still? If so then he should be good with enough time.Hawks with a decent road win against the Heat. I've learned not to get my hopes up so my enthusiasm is tempered but I think they can challenge the Wizards for the division.
The most I've been wrong about a player going from college to NBA ever, and it's not even close.Curry is just ####### bonkers. GB him.
Lawrence Moten for me, in the opposite direction. Best tweener who ever tweened. The most I've been wrong about a player going from college to NBA ever, and it's not even close.Curry is just ####### bonkers. GB him.
He is - really like him. They have Bud as their coach still? If so then he should be good with enough time.Hawks with a decent road win against the Heat. I've learned not to get my hopes up so my enthusiasm is tempered but I think they can challenge the Wizards for the division.
Same here. I still feel guilty about even doubting him.The most I've been wrong about a player going from college to NBA ever, and it's not even close.Curry is just ####### bonkers. GB him.
I live blogged that draft on my dumb little blog, and when the Wolves took Flynn I actually wrote, "Oh thank god, Flynn is the pick."Same here. I still feel guilty about even doubting him.The most I've been wrong about a player going from college to NBA ever, and it's not even close.Curry is just ####### bonkers. GB him.
shut it down said:Sad I've been busy all day and haven't had a chance to spend some time in one of my favorite annual threads, but let me say that as a Warriors fan, this proposed Amare trade has me seriously considering crashing a bus full of C-4 into the Coliseum. TheRedickCurry pick is miserable, but this would be far, far worse.
8ebok24 said:And the Knicks loving Stephen Curry makes no sense. Nate Robinson is/will be a better player than Curry. I understand Flynn or Rubio as a pure PG, but the short guard who can score first and dish second is already filled on the team.
BINGBING said:Curry = Jodie Meeks....only 34 spots higher. He will get physically abused in the NBA.
