Now that I am trying to do Fanduel basketball I am trying to learn the NBA better.

Are the Kings serious about trading a guy they drafted this year and throw in a future 1st for front court help? I feel like teams should be lining up to take this deal.

That's the first I've heard of that. Teams aren't lining up for that deal because there just aren't many capable PFs that Sacramento would be willing to trade for that fit their needs and who might be available. Maybe Ilyasova?

I like Illysova a little bit but he's not a guy you trade Stauskas and a first for.

Not a national story but Pete D'Alessandro recently gave a local press conference type deal to defend the Malone firing and basically only succeeded in looking like one of the bigger d-bags in the NBA. I doubt he's long for the job.

Pop has insisted to the press for a long time that he doesn't scout opponents. His job is to watch video of his own team to look for mistakes that need fixing, and then to communicate that back to the team as individuals and groups.

The triangle quote is amazing, and I only wish he'd dropped that one on a courtside TV talking head during a game instead of wasting it on a best reporter.

The last quote was what really got me. It doesn't surprise me that an NBA coach wouldn't scout the rest of the league much. I wonder how much of Popovich's public persona is schtick and how much of it is real. I think Belichick goes home and kicks his dog, but I wouldn't be surprised if Popovich is a pleasant person in his day to day life outside of basketball.

Wish they'd just ditch the voting completely and go with the NFL-like fantasy draft with 2 coaches/representatives. A draft is more entertaining than the game. At least it may get people talking about something in regards to it.

I recall that they do this with the rookie - sophmore game now. It seems to work pretty well.

It probably is to the people that watch the AS game. I don't understand why people get upset about the voting, its a popularity contest for an exhibition game. The most popular players should play. We have the All-NBA teams at the end of the year which should be for the deserving players.

The tax and salary cap both jumped about $5M this year, I would be very surprised if it didn't jump at least that much for next year. The tax will probably be near $82M, the Bulls have 10 players under contract for about $64M if Hinrich picks up his option, the first year max for Butler will be about $16M if the cap goes up $5M. So, after they give Butler the max, which is all but a certainty, they'll have $2M to sign a backup PG and wing to bring them up to 13 players and avoid the tax.

ETA: The Bulls could end up with at late lottery pick from the Kings and a pick in the late teens from Cleveland in a pick swap. For reference, McBuckets was picked 11th and makes $2.3M, Gary Harris was picked 19th and makes $1.5M. They could have a bit of an issue on their hands if the cap doesn't make a big jump ($8-9 million).

He's been playing VERY well for weeks. Just had a few games off for an ankle but he's been so much fun to watch. The Heat are just beginning to figure out how to get him into the offense....Wade has a pick and lob with Whiteside that's been effective but he'll only get better as Chalmers/Cole/Shabazzzzz get on the same page.

Huge bummer that the Heat didn't find him last year instead of GregO. I'm sure LeBron could have figured out how to get it to him at the rim...but Hassan is THE hype around the team here locally.
